Heath: Eight years ago, I looked into Hailey's dark, soulful eyes and knew I would never find another woman like her. But because I'm an idiot afraid to end up like my cheating father, I sabotaged my one shot at true love. Since then, I've dated a lot of girls in a lot of cities but no one who could make me forget the one I let slip away. And last year when my sister died, I discovered I didn't like who I'd become. I discovered it was time to change. When my best friend and his wife (who happens to be Hailey's cousin) rope me into babysitting, I'm shocked to find they double-booked. And Hailey's the other sitter. My adorable goddaughters ask us both to stay, and you know I don't need much convincing. Hailey, on the other hand, has up walls higher than the Green Monster at Fenway Park. But I've just been given the second chance of a lifetime, and I'm determined to show Hailey how much I've grown. I'm determined to win her heart.

I’m not usually a fan of second chances, but I liked how the author handled this trope in this novella. My opinion of the male lead fluctuates between "I understand your situation" and "You're an asshole" Despite my mixed feelings about Heath, I thought the way the author staged the reunion of the two characters under the guise of babysitting was very successful. Their approach was gradual and not forced at all, the dialogues between the two were cleverly threaded and the chemistry between them was spot on throughout the pages. Of course, Olive and Ivy, the most adorable little ones I’ve ever come across to read, played a crucial role in bringing them together. I hope they remain best friends for life and continue to drive their uncles crazy. Overall, this novella was a delightful read, filled with fun moments that I truly relished.
🌶️ Clean rom-com, emphasis on the emotions, kisses only 💬 Mild ❗Death, grief, cancer, drinking (all happened in the past and are influencing the present) . My thoughts: I'm not usually into rom-coms, but this novella was a fun and cute read to start this month! 🥰 It had lovable main characters, each one having a well established internal conflict, and a naturally progressing relationship. I read this bite sized story in just a few hours! And though I feel like things were a little rushed sometimes (despite being totally natural, like I said) I enjoyed reading this sweet novella 💕 And maybe I just read too many slow burns to believe in falling for someone that fast 🤣
Hailey and Heath. They met eight years before at her cousin's wedding. Maid of Honor and Best Man, they had communicated several times before that, and seemed to connect. At tha wedding, Heath was a drunken, disrespectful jerk to Hailey. They meet again at her cousin Mary's house and both end up babysitting two girls together. It's a short easy read, and a lot is covered in that one evening of babysitting. They agree to try again at a relationship. Liked that FMC didn't hold a grudge or a torch and had a sense of humor and playfulness.
a sweet second chance romance between two estranged people who parted from fear and betrayal 5 years ago.Hailey has never forgiven him for his humiliation that night, and Heath could never forget about Hailey. The day comes when the two meet each other again as babysitters for their best friend/family and finally confront the issues between them.
a nice short read especially for sunny days relaxing on the balcony and or couch at home!!
Good with kids ✅ Willing to admit mistakes ✅ Willing to sacrifice ✅
Hailey and Heath are just adorable in this novella. I love that they each recognized a weakness and grew from it. They kids in the story made it feel homey, joyful, and real. Many times I feel like I novella doesn’t have even time to develop but Kate Watson hit it out of the ballpark (pun intended).
G rating: kisses, talk of family members sickness and death
Hailey and Heath get a second chance at discovering if their strong attraction for one another could be more than just attraction. And they get to do so while double babysitting two adorable little girls. Their chemistry is strong. The story of their first meeting at a wedding is the stuff of embarrassing legends. Wonderful story!
Awesome short story, well written with great characters. Humorous and witty. Heath and Hailey kissing in a tree… when the two of them get double booked for babysitting duty. Heath jumps at his second chance at romance.I read an advance of this book and I leave my review voluntarily in my own words.
Such a cute novella. No spice but super sweet. I LOvE the characters especially the little girls that they babysit. Their comments and planning makes me smile so big and laugh. I absolutely loved this novella. Took me no time and left my heart happy. Kate knows how to write!
I really like Kate Watson’s writing style and this novella was just so cute. Heath and Hailey met at their friend’s wedding and there were sparks, but the night ended badly and they stopped speaking. When their friends force them together for a night of babysitting, they realize how much they have changed but also that the spark hasn’t gone away. This novella was so fun and I really enjoyed it!
In a novella kinda mood. Love that i’m just packing in novellas to start the month. This one was under 100 pages and was a sweet, second chance romance that didn’t lack emotional depth.
Sweet second chance love story immersed in a delightful babysitting experience with best friend/cousin's girls. Clearly he's all in...is she? Very short and I would have liked more!
