What's a girl to do when she finds her boyfriend of two years cheating on her? Go with his smoking hot father, of course.
If you're looking for a fun and smutty novella with a delicious age gap and plenty of sizzle, you're welcome. Revenge Era is everything that it promises to be in the blurb. A famous singer at the height of her career, and es's dirty talking father. While I love a certain element of forbidden to be felt in my age gaps, this one didn't really have that. This is a lighter take on the age gap because we don't really focus on the age difference, nor much of the taboo of Ford being Lake's ex's father. The ex sort of fades in the background quickly, entirely forgettable. And while I usually like the angst of we want to but we shouldn't, I didn't mind the higher take on this here.
Ford and Lake have instant chemistry and Ford's dirty mouth only added to the appeal.
While it's a novella, it still had plenty of development and plot to hook you and feel entirely fulfilling. I would have loved to get a bit more backstory to Ford and spend more time in his head. I'd say this was more of an erotic romance novella because there's a hell of a steamy punch. At times almost too much so for my taste. But I loved the characters and I loved the chemistry, so while I did skim through some of the sex scenes, I still enjoyed it quite a lot. It was dirty, emotional, and with a fantastic cast of characters. If you're looking for something quick, dirty and satisfying, look no further.

Well, this was hoooot, and my rating is solely based on the smut. 🥵🤣
Story-wise, it gave me the ick in the beginning that she jumped too quickly to an arrangement with her ex-boyfriend's father. I thought it would take her at least a few weeks or months to do something about the breakup. But nope, only a few days after the drama, she was already doing her "revenge." But like I said, I like the smut, so I can overlook how things happened so fast.
As for the Taylor Swift references, why does this read feel like a fanfic? Idk, I love TS, but I don't want her in my fiction. That's too close to reality, and I need a separation from her and the romances I read. 🤷♀️
Anyway, ick aside, this was fun. There's just something about the ex's dad that makes the stories more controversial and fun. I liked that these two didn't give a crap about the consequences of their setup and that they've owned it. I also appreciated that Ford went after her when she left, because I would definitely despise it if it happened the other way around. Sorry, not sorry. He's the more mature in this situation, so he should know better. 💅
Overall, this was fun; there's nothing much really to the story, but I'm here for the sexy times, and this novella gave me all that and more. While this is a short and easy read, it is nonetheless enjoyable. 😊

I was genuinely uncomfortable reading this one. Not because of the tropes or anything but because this is so obviously a Taylor Swift fanfic turned book it genuinely made me cringe more than once.
Things to note here are: I am a big fan of Taylor, and I follow (not super duper intently) her story and what is online about her. This book wasn't so much a homage as it was an almost copy of her life/lyrics with details changed I guess so she doesn't get sued/is labeled as fanfic.
A few things about Lake's treatment as a woman on spotlight are universal (media portrayal, the obsession with her dating life etc), but every chapter title is a song title from Taylor (and mind you a popular easy one) and you can easily spot lyric sentences in the middle of the chapters.
Sure Taylor Swift did not get cheated by her secretly gay ex-boyfriend (that's been publicized) and then went on to revenge affair his dad, but other than that it was like reading accounts of things that happened to TSwift for easy connection grab with a Taylor fan reader and it felt cheap, badly done and borderline exploitative.
"Lake" also had her songs stole by a previous label. She is also reported super nice to everyone who approaches her. No one bothers to look past into the shiny surface to the person beneath. She has a singer bff. Has iconic red lips. Has a "Red" album and reference to her life in her lyrics. "Revenge Era", the disco ball on the cover. I mean, christ on a cracker get a grip.
I mean it was just honest to goodness so embarrassing to read this. I have not read anything else by this author and after this I definitely won't. This was... bad. I cannot believe it was allowed to be published as an actual book. Even 50SOG had more changes from Twilight fanfic to be published.
And finally the "steam" on this was kind of boring, repetitive and not hot. I had read an actually really good smutty book before this and you know the vibe I got from this book is that everyone involved is having bad sex including the author.
This whole thing was just a big no.

Okay, listen. This book was adorable. Like… I-want-to-squeeze-it-and-put-a-bow-on-it adorable. It was the perfect mix of sweet moments, witty banter that had me smiling like an idiot, and just the right amount of spice to make me kick my feet a little. Ok, maybe A LOT of spice 😅
The characters? Precious. The chemistry? Off the charts. The vibes? Immaculate.

That said, their chemistry is effortless.
I especially loved how Ford encourages Lake to stop people-pleasing and actually enjoy herself for once.
I listened to the audiobook in duet narration by Sebastian York and Janine Granda, and it was so good.
Their performances added a playful, flirty tone that fit the story perfectly.

A cute, steamy holiday novella that delivers exactly what it promises: fast, flirty, and easy to devour in one sitting.

I saw Lake and Ford in Mother Faker my first read by this author and thought I'd give their story a try.
Lake Paige is a famous singer always on the go, Paul is her boyfriend of 2 years. She walks in on him giving a blow job to her tour manager and makes a scene far from her usual good girl image.
Ford is the owner of the record company and Paul's father.

I thought with Paul pulling such a shit head move I'd be ok with Lake being involved with Ford and maybe it could've worked.....BUT
1) Way too many mentions of getting revenge on the son
2)Way too much sex in such a short space of time to convince this reader that this was anything but a revenge fuck
3) I believe that Ford would've liked to ask Lake out before she got with his son but although the author tried I absolutely do not believe that Lake wanted Ford before, found him attractive maybe but no way
4) Maybe if there'd been a break between the two relationships this might've worked, maybe if Lake and Paul were having problems and she'd shown signs of unhappiness or discontent with her relationship with Paul. Maybe if the book was longer......whole lotta maybes

This was so good I read this in one sitting, I could not put this book down. Lake and Ford are so freakin hot together, I loved everything about it. This is a billionaire, age gap, Ex boyfriend’s father, forbidden romance. I highly recommend this book.
I loved all the side characters especially the Langfield Brothers. This was the perfect start to The revenge games series and I can’t wait for the next book.

Lake has been dating Paul for two years. He is the son of Ford who owns the record label that Lake is signed with.
You can tell things are totally off when Paul gives Lake a scarf for Christmas that is part of a set but he gifts the hat to his dad🤦🏻♀️
After a show Lake ends up walking into a room and Paul is on his knees pleasing someone else!
She grabs the champagne, flips the bird, fires Clay and tells him he can keep Paul and walks out✌🏻
Ford comes to the rescue when he learns she is at a bar beyond tipsy and dancing but her actions are from his son….
He says some things that start to show his feelings……
The hot tub scene is🔥
I love how sweet he is.
I love that he has always wanted her.
I love that he proves to her that she hasn’t been with the “right” man yet until him.
I love that he takes the risk of messing up his reputation for her and doesn’t even think twice about it.

Lake and Ford
This quick read was so cute. I'm not much into age gap romance, but I really liked this one. Ford is confident and tells Lake how he feels. There isn't any pining or angst. It's kind of refreshing. I think I'll check out the other books. There were a few characters mentioned that I believe have their own books.
This quick read was so cute. I'm not much into age gap romance, but I really liked this one. Ford is confident and tells Lake how he feels. There isn't any pining or angst. It's kind of refreshing. I think I'll check out the other books. There were a few characters mentioned that I believe have their own books.

This was super cute! I liked all the subtle Taylor Swift references.
I loved the connection between the young, famous FMC, and the older, wealthy MMC. They are so sweet with one another.
The ending was a bit anticlimactic and felt kind of sudden. However, you see more of this main couple as side characters in the rest of the series, so you do get more of their story. It just seemed like the ending wasn’t as strong as the rest of the book.
But the bulk of the book was really good! I’m not big on age gap romances, but this didn’t really feel like that. They just felt like two people in love. He’s the owner of her record label, so it’s already ‘forbidden’-ish, so the age gap part wasn’t a big deal.
Overall a really good book.

I seriously could not put this book down – I loved it so much! Lake and Ford are absolute perfection and everyone just needs to read this novella!
