Wildfire Chronicles #1-3

Panic/Shock/Psychosis/Mutation

Rate this book
After decades of planning, Project Wildfire has been initiated. But even the most carefully laid plans can fall apart...

Wildfire Chronicles is the acclaimed horror/science fiction series from K.R. Griffiths. This compilation collects book 1 to 3 in one package.

Panic (#1)
Michael Evans is only in rural St. Davids to maintain a low profile after his time spent as a city cop ended in disaster. The town is perfect for him: isolated. A tiny population. Virtually no crime.

Until the night the strange canisters fall from the sky and the town priest starts killing people with his teeth. To Michael, the bloodbath looks like a murder case that the quiet town's two police officers can't possibly handle.

But this isn't just a crime scene.

And the priest is just the beginning...

Shock (#1.5)
The team had been told it would be a straightforward mission: enter St. Davids, now little more than a ghost town, retrieve the target and return to base.

Trouble is, the target is a man named Victor, and it looks like somebody else got to him first.

And St. Davids is anything but a ghost town...

Psychosis (#2)
Michael Evans, crippled survivor of the massacre at St. Davids, has only one goal left: to find his young daughter. And that means journeying north and discovering that during the five days he spent comatose in an underground bunker the world has changed dramatically.

And worse, it's still changing.

Struggling to come to terms with a world steeped in shocking violence and ever-present danger, Michael must adapt quickly to a new reality: the virus has already infected the population. But it isn't stopping there...

Mutation (#3)
The only thing the survivors of the catastrophe in South Wales wanted was a safe place to ride out the apocalypse. The castle looked perfect: high walls and natural defenses that even the infection could not breach.

The problem was that someone had beaten them to it. Someone who would stop at nothing to maintain control.

Someone with a dark secret that could change everything...

Born the son of a wealthy philanthropist, Griffiths was orphaned by crime at a formative age, and subsequently raised by the family's kindly butler.

Nursing a bone-deep rage at the loss of his parents, Griffiths invested his inherited billions into extensive combat training and the development of sophisticated technology which he now uses to bring justice to the streets of -

No, wait. That's Batman. Sheesh. I always do this.

I was born in Wales, and lost myself in books as soon as I discovered them. That kid who hangs out in the library. Yeah, that was me.

I never wanted to be anything other than a writer/superhero and eventually I moved to London, finding work as a journalist and editor, before turning to writing horror and science fiction, and being continually amazed that people actually read it.

Wow, what a ride that was!! From page one, to the very end, I really had to struggle to put this one down. Obviously I didn't struggle too hard, as I finished all 4 volumes in 6 days. And loved every minute of it.

For anyone that enjoys this kind of story, you are in for a real treat with this one. Very well written, so easy to read, the story is so compelling and exciting and so much fun to read. I know there is another volume to be released this year, but the book left me in a good place. If there were not another volume, I would be happy with how this left off. But you better believe, I'm going to want to read the next volume as soon as I can.

Fantastic read!!

Excellent

OK some parts were a bit gory for my personal taste but totally in context with the story. Excellent characterisation, you want many to I've, some you want to die. A virus is unleashed turning most humans into instant cannibals. But there is a mutation and some survive but at cost.

Outstanding!!!!

Excellent characters, excellent use of background information and exceptional unusual zombie story telling. Enjoyed the character building, and the up close and personal fight both physically and mentally. Claire was a very strong role model and Pete was a curious hero.

Wow. Just wow. I just finished the 4th book after staying up late to get to the end of the last book in this set.

Each book has a slightly different feel, with the first book taking place in a small town, and the next books moving out from there. As the books continue, you learn more and more about the virus, and the effects it has on people.

There are a lot of surprises, lots of action, great characters, and a ton of gore.

There are a few flaws, but if you try out the first book and like it, you'll know whether or not you'll want to continue. I thoroughly enjoyed the series so far, and I'll definitely be getting the next two books.

I read all six of these in a row, so this is a collective review. Fun, fast, freaky: this book was everything a zombie novel lover like me is looking for. Liked the interesting take on the zombie outbreak (I've always been partial to the rage ones.) I wasn't in love with the whole mutant Jake storyline, but the mutant Jason one kind of made up for it. After being thoroughly entertained by "Adrift," I'm quickly becoming a fan of this author.

Love zombie/post-apocalyptic stuff, but there is really a lot of BAD junk out there. This is NOT one of those books. This is wholly entertaining, with great characters, and a marvelous plot. I couldn't put it down, and didn't want it to end. There are more books in the series so I WILL be reading those! Get this series and read it. As long as you like horror/zombie fiction, you will like this.

Not bad

Not bad

I have to say this was not bad at all, lots of blood and gore, but it did have an interesting concept, I liked it, now I have to get the rest so I can see what happens next.

Great series. When I started wasn't so sure at first. Liked all the characters.
Glad victor dead he was a nutcase. Hated seeing what happened to Rachel's brother he would of came in good use with new infected guy Jake the crazy.
Rachel did find new outlet for her rage. Yes she was strongheaded not strong like her brother. After what happen she showed new kickbutt side. John not so sure about yet. And Michael was okay think john and him be good leader's together maybe. Michael throw us a curve ball in book 4 over the one's that don't turn after bring bite. What I liked better was that it wasn't just 1 person story it jumped to different characters.
I did see and read few reviews I have to say this is nothing like the walking dead at all. On the show only regular old zombies this series have different type's or levels. And no eyes!! And the animals turn also. More like z nation.

The only thing I still trying get around is the falling object heading to earth what the heck is that all About at the bringing of book 1. Was it human made to help trigger the infection?
