PICKLED MAGIC: THE GIANT OMNIBUS EDITION
A wizard’s apprentice embarks upon a personal quest to set right the wrongs of his past. Unfortunately, his dreadful step-father has unwittingly caused him to avoid anything alcoholic, which proves to be a reoccurring comic problem throughout the story, since the singular potion that could potentially release his magic, and his dreams of a little payback, is over ninety-eight percent proof.
Walter Farmfound has a desperate need to become a wizard and to unlock his unique Wild Magic; which is an unstoppable force of nature, but also completely unhinged and with a life and an agenda of its own. When his magic is finally unleashed, Walter believes he will at last be able to make everyone sorry for all their years of unsought-for . . . attentions; because who messes with a wizard, right?
Unfortunately, the only time Walter is able to access his all-powerful and untameable Wild Magic is when he is completely inebriated – Pickled even – and therefore without any of those pesky, restraining inhibitions; and quite possibly a single functioning brain cell. So what could possibly go wrong?
Pickled Magic is a hilarious, Pratchett-esque rollercoaster of a journey of riotous discovery, naughtiness and jokes as Walter’s quest takes him ever-nearer to the ultimate power in the magical world of Allyssion, and perhaps finally to a little personal peace of his own; and yet this story is about so, so much more than something as simple as revenge . . .
Walter’s story begins at a gentle pace, setting out his early life – and his occasionally bumpy background – before the riotous rollercoaster of magic and mayhem truly takes off. The pace and the laughs as the story unfolds will envelope the reader in an ever-increasing torrent of hilarious and unexpected twists and turns of wild, Wild Magic and even wilder characters.
The book suddenly leaps forward once Walter and his companions finally set out on their quest, since the best, the funniest and the wackiest part of the 'trilogy' is about to begin.
Wizards, witches, a Wild Magic that knows no bounds, a pair of decadent Royal Twins, centaurs, trolls, Hellves and an inter-species war - or at the very least some loud shouting and several items of deliberately-thrown, edged cutlery . . . what more does a comic fantasy novel require?
How about an unbounded quantity of refreshing, sometimes naughty originality, a centuries-dead sorcerer, a vengeful dragon, an enigmatic teacher, a crazy quest, an even crazier duck and chrysanthemums. But no wands, definitely no wands!
Pickled Magic contains more corn than Kansas, and more jokes, belly laughs, and surprises to make the reader overjoyed that this book is over three times the length of anything in this genre. Also, at this special, introductory price, it’s even cheaper than a lolly. Truly a trilogy wrapped up in a single book.

Creative, funny and clever. I thoroughly enjoyed Pickled Magic and all its wonderful characters. It was very well written and extremely unique.
