The story of Jesus’ birth is told in two of the four gospels—Matthew and Luke—of the Christian Bible. The two biblical tellings of the story include some different details related to the story.
In this brief booklet, the author of Highly Favored updates the language of the King James Version of the Bible and brings together the two accounts of the birth. He also includes some Old Testament passages cited by the New Testament writers.
Ferrell Foster brings in very little information from beyond the biblical accounts. He simply lets Scripture mostly speak for itself.
“Knowing the gospels presented two complimentary versions of the same story, I wanted to bring the two together as much as possible,” Foster said. “I just wanted to capture the biblical story from the two accounts.”
Highly Favored comes in at only about five thousand words. It takes the reader to the core information of the story that has captured the human imagination for more than two thousand years. It also provides the opening act in a life story that many people believe is the most pivotal life in human history—the Son of God in our midst.
