i wish this book was out when i was taking death, dying and grief class. it would have come in handy, i mean the instructor had a book for the class but this also have work sheet and other items the other book didn't have that can help with the grieving process. i would recommend this book no matter what. families, support groups, you might want to see about finding one that is more child friendly but if an adult can use some of the ideas and explain it better so a child can understand that death, dying and grief is part of life. think about a child losing a pet, they don't understand what happen, only that their pet is no longer with them and then emotions comes, and they don't understand that. well in the adult world this happens as well. so yeah get the book.
Taken with a grain of salt, this book offers suggestions for grieving. Some typos occur and change the meaning of the sentence. The phrase getting over is used often. There was some I found helpful and other parts that didn't fit.
The first chapter introduce the various types of grief concepts and symptoms that are manifested physically, emotionally and externally.
The writer uses anecdotal stories and clear and simple language so that the reader can process it in their own mind.
The writer has created supportive chapters on coping mechanisms, myths and ways to work through it. It was very thorough and had reinforcements at the end of each chapter. another good book here.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
