Sophie Burroughs is determined to be a witch. Her grandmother was a witch. All the other supes say she smells like a witch, but she can’t cast a spell to save her life.
Sprouting fur is so not on her to-do list.
But when a smokin' hot werewolf bites her and then accuses her of crimes against his pack, she has until the next full moon to prove him wrong and stop his magic from transforming her into a wolf.
A romp in the sack would be a nice bonus, too.
Trace Thibodeaux didn’t mean to bite Sophie. The red wolves have been cursed, she's the prime suspect, and if he wants to keep his rank in the pack, he has to end her magic by any means necessary.
But that doesn’t include sheathing his sword in a witch’s scabbard.
He’s gotten into bed with the enemy before, and that’s a mistake he’ll never make again.
Or will he?
If you like funny heroines and smoldering shifters, you'll love this steamy paranormal romantic comedy.
USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Pulkinen has always been fascinated with things that go bump in the night. Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice.
Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves red wine and chocolate, and in her free time, she likes to read, take pictures, and spend time with her family.
This is second in a romance series with each book being a different couple. So you don't have to read in order, but I'd recommend that you do because they're pretty intertwined, at least this time.
I can't take any of these people seriously. Which is sad because I kind of liked Sophie in the other book. But the plot is dead simple, the culprit literally right under her nose and Trace and his pack are giant morons not considering that there might be, gasp, more than one unregistered witch in the city. So the conflict is manufactured and depends on people being stupid while the author winks at the reader about who is behind it all. I'd had enough before I made it a third through. It doesn't help that the main couple are all hormones and flat banter (it was the fun banter that carried the first book for me).
A witch, a vampire, and a werewolf meet in a bar…Just kidding! But, this was the cutest book and the perfect length. It was the perfect combination of fantasy meets romance meets a tiny bit of mystery and smut.
Shift Happens is the second book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. It could be read as a standalone, but having said that, you would be missing out on a really fun read if you don’t read the first book too- plus there are recurring characters who are introduced in the first book- so there is a lot to gain by reading book one first. This is a fantastic Paranormal Romantic Comedy- with werewolves, witches, magic, spells, vampires, mystery, chemistry, humour, romance, danger, drama, and plenty of fun. Again, the story is set against the mystical backdrop of New Orleans. We met Sophie Burrows in book one, as she is Jane’s best friend. Sophie has watched her friend find her place in the supernatural world and would love nothing better than be able to embrace her own mystical heritage, but try as she might, she just doesn’t seem to be able to access that which should have been her birthright. You see her grandmother was a powerful witch, and Sophie has long dreamed of following in her grandmother’s footsteps. All her supernatural friends say she looks and smells like a witch- so why can’t she cast spells. She feels like such a failure. Then added to her dilemma is the little problem of having been bitten by a werewolf- and the chance she could turn into one at the next full moon. What is a witch to do? Trace Thibodeaux is a Red Wolf Shifter who happens to be the one who accidentally bit Sophie. He’s been looking for his missing packmate who was with an unknown witch at the time of his disappearance. Things get even more complicated when his pack is cursed, as well. So not only does he need to find his missing friend, but find the witch who cursed his pack and deal with the situation. His investigations have led him to Sophie and he is convinced that she’s the witch he’s after. If only he wasn’t so attracted to her. Their chemistry is throwing him off his game. He needs to prove to his alpha that he can get the job done- so spending time with the enemy probably isn’t the smartest thing he could do. What happens next makes for a really fun and very engrossing read!
Loving this series!!!!! Diving into Book #3 now!!!!
I have read a couple of books from this author and she still continues to blow my mind on her storytelling. This is the second book of the New Orleans Nocturnal series. You don’t need to read the books in order but there are previous characters in this story as well. I love a good paranormal book but this author exceeded all my expectations on this book. I was so excited when I got this book I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I couldn't put it down until the end. It only took me a few hours to devour this addictive story.
Sophie is supposed to be a witch like her whole family. She has been told she even smells like a witch. Sophie wants to be a witch so bad but she can’t cast a spell for nothing. She finds herself in trouble with a werewolf pack. Sophie meets Hot Trace, who is a werewolf. He bites her to protect his status. His pack is cursed by a witch and Sophie has to figure out how to prove she is innocent or she too will become a wolf. Will Sophie find a way to prove that she’s innocent or will it be too late?
“Shift Happens”, second in the 'New Orleans Nocturnes' series, takes up where the first left off. Sophie Burroughs, professional dog walker, has always believed that one day she'll be a witch. She has her grandmother's Grimoire but none of the spells work and no-one in the New Orleans witch community will talk to her about magic. There's just one other slight problem – she was bitten by a werewolf and, if the random patches of fur appearing on her body are anything to go by, she'll become a werewolf at the next full moon. The biter was none other than Red Fox Shifter Trace Thibodeaux who, mistakenly, believes that she has cursed his Pack and kidnapped his friend. It turns into a nice romance but the mystery was less satisfying as there is only one witch available in the book who could have done it. It's an OK read which had plenty of potential to be better. 3 Stars.
When Sophie travels to New Orleans with her bestie Jane, who ends up becoming a vampire, she only wants two things: 1. to hook up with a hot beastly werewolf, and 2. to become a full-fledged witch. What she wasn't expecting was to meet and fall for the wolf who bit her and have to decide between becoming a wolf like the man she is falling for or becoming a witch like her grandmother. I loved Sophie and Trace and their adventurous love story. This is a fun series that keeps me wanting more.
I liked it a lot, it was certainly was a lot of fun and endearing, but it felt a little forced and instant to me, it all got sorted out a little too easily! I still enjoyed it a lot!!
This werewolf shifter book is # 2 in the New Orleans Nocturnes series. Trace and witch descendant Sophie have an instant attraction that is unstoppable. Unfortunately complicated by an accidental bite and a spell gone awry, Trace has been sent to investigate Sophie's role and to head off a war between the werewolves and the witches. Their attraction to each other is intense. There is plenty of humor as many mystical beings come together to find solutions. I found this book very amusing and I really enjoyed it.
This is a romance with a bit of something extra, a dash of fur and fangs set in New Orleans and the French Quarter. Sophie Burroughs is a lady who loves animals, she has a dog walking business, a grandmother who was a witch and the who would love nothing more than to be one too and a best friend who is a vampire, but she also wants to get together for a night of passion with a werewolf. Trace Thibodeaux just happens to be a werewolf trying to find his best friend and relive his pack from the curse that they have been under since he disappeared, he is tall, handsome with a bad boy attitude and he doesn’t want to make repeat mistakes while trying to do this.
We meet sophie when she is with her best friend Jane trying desperately to work a spell to get a stain out of her shirt which was written by her grandma in her grimoire, but try as she might and in various states of undress, she is not succeeding, so when the frustration of it all gets to her and she shoves the grimoire to the floor, the last thing she was expecting to hear was that Jane had found a prophecy on the last page of the grimoire. Thinking that it was about her deceased dad on first glance, but when they read through it again, Jane realises that it’s actually about Sophie and that some parts of it have already happened, she has arrived in New Orleans and the other day a werewolf bit her at a halloween party! It is the next couple of lines which are both ominous and strange, but no more ominous or strange as her not being able to join the local coven and there being no uproar about the bite in the first place when it is illegal.
Trace is following Sophie, she is under surveillance by the pack because they think she is the one who is forcing the shifters to uncontrollably change form one form to the other and as one of the only unregistered witch, she is the most likely culprit, especially when he sees her walking 5 male dogs together on leashes, but he cannot hide the feelings her scent triggers in him, which is why he bit her in the first place at the party and he can already smell his scent mixing with hers as the transition to werewolf is starting, which is a massive problem and he has to rectify it because if she does complete the transition, her inborn ability with animals will make her a strong wolf and a risk with her ability to possibly control other alpha’s. He cannot ignore his feelings no matter how hard he tries and while he is following her as she finishes her rounds and drops the dogs off home, he nearly loses her, but sees her going into a coffee shop.
Sophie enters the cafe, she has had the feeling that someone was watching her, but couldn’t see anyone there, however, and thinks about the guy from the party, why the witches won’t help her and how this coffee shop is run by a witch, but she hasn’t yet broached the subject with er, however, she is jolted from these trains of thought when she sees Trace outside the window, she forgets all about the coffee and goes outside to find him. She doesn’t find him, however, she does find a dog in a muddy pothole and thinking it might be lost, decides to take him home to give it a bath and look for it’s owner the next day. What she doesn’t know is that it actually is Trace and that he has been forced to shift into his wolf form and that she is going to take full advantage of this opportunity to go into Sophie’s house and look for his friend, but the plan backfires on both of them when he shifts back and Sophie has to call in Jane as a reinforcement.
What will this pair do now, will they be able to resist their urges, or will they be torn apart by the two worlds they live in?
This is book 2 in Carrie’s New Orleans Nocturnes series of paranormal rom-coms. If you haven’t read that book, please start there!
Shift Happens picks up where License to Bite left off, and Sophie’s in trouble. After a run-in with what she thought was a dog at Jane’s Halloween party, Sophie quickly learns it's no ordinary dog bite on her arm, but one from a werewolf. She doesn’t know it yet, but it’s a good thing she doesn’t seem to show any competency as a witch despite everyone commenting on her spiced apple cider scent. That would only complicate matters more.
And complication certainly happens when Traces walks back into the picture. Hot as sin, he’s hard to resist! Better yet, he sees Sophie the same way, at least, he does when he’s not investigating her.
Picking up where Book 1 left off gives this one the advantage of not having to introduce everyone from scratch, and Carrie takes advantage of that, getting right to the good parts! I LOVE how fiesty and unashamedly herself Sophie is, even if she doesn’t have the best track record with humans. It’s honestly my favorite part about her.
Showing she really knows her characters, Carrie writes about some really sweet and soft moments between Sophie and Trace that don’t happen with Jane and Ethan, highlighting the completeness of her understanding of the world in these books. You get sucked in and you don’t want to leave! I really hope they get to give it to the coven in Book 3, which I cannot wait to read! I don’t want these books to end!
SHIFT HAPPENS is the second book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series. Though each romance will stand on its own, for better enjoyment you will want to read this series in the order of release.
The first book was hilarious. The second story does not disappoint. If anything, it is even funnier. Right now, given the current turmoil of life, I’m looking for escape in my books; this is a perfect escape. Sexy werewolves, misunderstandings, adventure, and full-moon midnight deadlines are all included in this perfectly fun story.
Warning: Sophie has a potty mouth – a fantastically, hilarious potty mouth! She has set her sights on the idea of a werewolf and she has no problem saying so. She’s sassy and smart.
Trace is a wonderful hero. He’s hot as sin, alpha, and sweet, but he also has a history to overcome. It has made him gun-shy.
Together, they are dynamite in a fireworks factory!
The teaser at the end tells me that LIFE’S A WITCH is going to be another wonderful addition to this series and will continue the irreverent hilarity and unmatched romance. I’m looking forward to reading it!
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Title: SHIFT HAPPENS Series: New Orleans Nocturnes #2 Category /Genre: Paranormal Romance Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Grammar/editing: received as an unedited ARC Received from: Carrie Pulkinen
Shift Happens: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 2) By Carrie Pulkinen 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book Shift Happens: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen. It pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It is a story that is funny and romantic. I love the characters of Sophie Burroughs and Trace Thibodeaux. Sophie is independent, sassy, and wants to be a witch. She finds herself accused of crimes against a werewolf pack as well as bitten by Trace. Trace is trying hard not to let his attraction to Sophie interfere with his investigation of the crimes that his pack believes Sophie has committed. The problem is that he can’t seem to focus when she is around. What does the future hold for Trace and Sophie? Will Sophie be able to prove that she is not guilty of crimes against his pack? Will Trace be able to keep himself from completely falling for Sophie? Read this book to find out what happens. This is a story that had me laughing out loud at the banter that goes back and forth between the characters. There is both humorous and flirty banter. There are romantic scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. I love that some of the characters from the first book are brought forward into this one. Don’t miss out on the amazing second story in this series. I highly recommend it.
This story follows Sophie, Jane’s friend, from License to Bite. It reads as a complete standalone, but if you love connecting stories, totally read the first book first. Sophie and Trace were cute together and I loved their story. There’s laughter, romance and magic abound all tangled up in a short and sweet mystery. I’m loving these stories as they are such comfort reads to me. I highly recommend this series.
Shift Happens is the second book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series.
I voluntarily received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Another fun paranormal romantic comedy in Carrie Pulkinen’s ‘New Orleans Nocturnes’ series. It can be read as a standalone story although some of the characters are mentioned in previous books. The blurb states, “If you like funny heroines and smoldering shifters, you'll love this fast, steamy romantic comedy” and I was not disappointed as that is exactly what I got. Sophie Burroughs is determined to be a witch like her Grandmother was but cannot actually cast a spell. What she didn’t want was to become a werewolf but having been bitten by a very handsome one she has until the next full moon to stop becoming one herself. To make things more complicated the sexy werewolf who bit her is also accusing her of crimes against his pack which she also has until the full moon to prove she’s innocent of the crime. Meanwhile Werewolf Trace Thibodeaux didn’t mean to bite Sophie but she is the prime suspect for putting a curse on his pack. He is determined to stop the curse and the witch who cast the spell, but didn’t factor in the sassy witch who he’s bitten and the steamy chemistry between them, but can he literally get into bed with the enemy. This novel has a very funny romantic storyline which flows nicely and has some fascinating characters and lots of steamy chemistry between the main characters Sophie and Trace. I look forward to book three in the series.
SHIFT HAPPENS is the second book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series and features Jane's best friend, Sophie, and Trace, a werewolf.
Following on in the same lighthearted rom-com theme, we find out that Trace is a red wolf shifter and is searching for the witch that has cursed his pack. All the registered witches have denied it so that only leaves unregistered ones. Sophie is top of the list. Her grandmother was a witch and Sophie wants to be one.
I enjoyed this book more than the first. Whether that is because I have got used to the writing style or whether I liked these characters more, I'm not quite sure. Either way, this was a fun read that made me smile.
I would have liked to have known more about Trace and his past. For being a First Lieutenant, he's treated like a newbie. Just what did happen with the nymph that makes all his prior history disappear and that one mistake hang over him like a neon lightbulb?
Fast-paced and amusing, this book can be read as a standalone although it does feature characters and relationships from book one. All in all, this was a really good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "SHIFT HAPPENS" Carrie Pulkinen I absolutely love your books this is full hot steamy scenes, humor, intrigue, adventure, twists that have you turning oage after page. Sophie Burrough's grandma was witch and she determined to be one also she is feisty, has a smutty mouth, all the supes say she smells like witch but she can't create spells at all and she loves animals wants to be with a werewolf but doesn't want to sprout fur. Trace Thibodeaux is a werewolf his pack the red wolves gave been cursed he's forced into shifting into a wolf even when he doesn't want to and his BF has disappeared. Trace is investigating Sophie she's the only witch in town he thinks she's responsible for the packs problems shifting when he accidently bites her which is against the rules he thinks he made a mistake about her. The chemistry between Sophie and Trace is off the charts scorching hot this story is definitely a hit such a fantastic read so well written you definitely don't want miss getting this book with totally awesome characters. I defintely recommend it was as good if not better than the first this is such a amazing series I SOOO can't wait for the next book "LIFE'S A WITCH" AWESOME SERIES!!!!!
Sophie Burroughs moved to New Orleans to be near her best friend, Jane, who was recently turned into a vampire. Sophie's grandmother was a witch, and, all of her life, Sophie has also wanted to be one. But she has no magic despite smelling like a witch according to the supes she knows. While at a party, Sophie was accidentally bitten by a werewolf and now has until the next full moon to figure out how to stop the transformation.
Trace Thibodeaux is the werewolf who bit Sophie and he feels bad but he can't do anything about it right now. Trace is on a mission. His best friend is missing and the red wolf pack is being forced to shift. Trace needs to find the witch responsible before there's a war and he thinks that Sophie's his gal.
I really enjoyed this book which flowed seamlessly from the first one. This book's well-written with well-developed characters whom you'll getting to know. I loved the various relationships and the chemistry between Sophie and Trace. I was hooked from the beginning and kept entranced until the end. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.
Sophie's journey is completely amazing. I loved this story, it was so moving I actually cried while reading it.
All of the witch and werewolf politics were so interesting. I especially liked learning about the supernatural world with Sophie she had been wanting to be a part of that world so badly it was fun to experience it from her perspective.
I absolutely loved this book!
Now where I think Sophie is a strong, confident, sexual woman, and I love that for her! I just really wish that her sexuality didn't become her only personality trait and focus.
I felt like the constant innuendo use was fine. I just really took me out of the moment when something serious was happening and they found time to beat me over the head with a dirty joke instead of giving it a nudge-nudge wink-wink delivery.
Don't get me wrong I am far from prudish and typically love this kind of humor, I was just a little disappointed to see some really heartfelt moments between Trace and Sophie get reduced to a measly sex joke.
Trace and Sophie's story literally brought parts of the supernatural world together gracefully. Can't wait too see more of them in future books.
I voluntarily read an arc of this book for an honest review. What a great story! I absolutely love this new series! Sophie is an animal loving want to be witch. Her grandma was a witch, the other supes say she smells like a witch but she’s less than talented, ok let’s face it, she’s a failure when it comes to casting even the simplest of spells. Trace is a shifter who keeps being forcibly shifted into his Wolf and his best friend has disappeared. People in New Orleans are pretty accepting but that goes against the rules. Trace is investigating Mari because she’s the only new witch in town. He just knows she’s responsible for the shifting and his bffs disappearance. Only the more he’s around her the more he realizes maybe he’s made a mistake. Oh and there’s the little problem that he accidentally bit her and she may turn into a shifter which is also against the rules. These two are irrepressibly drawn to each other. Their feelings are getting stronger but there are so many obstacles in their way. There are so many things that I loved in this book and you will too when you read it.
This is a fun read from an author that I love and I absolutely love how she has made it in to such a great fun read that had me laughing all the time. So many authors are so busy feeling that they have to have angst and drama to keep their readers where Carrie has realised that a fun read is just as important. I loved this one so much I went and bought the first book in the series to read
Trace Thibodeaux is a member of a pack that has a curse on it a curse that causes the pack members to change into their wolf form with no rhyme or reason something that is extremely dangerous for them He is sure that Sophie Burrough is the witch that has cursed them and he needs to question her. The only problem is that Sophie may be a born witch but somehow she has never been able to cast a spell and when Trace accidentally bites her it starts a chain reaction that has hilarious consequences. He now knows that he is probably wrong about her been the guilty party but he has also realised what she is to him can they actually have a future together.
Shift Happens is book two of the New Orleans Nocturnes. It can definitely be read as a stand alone story, but in my opinion it’s more enjoyable if you have read book one. I like the familiarity of knowing the characters and already having the scene set for me. Book two follows Sophie. Sophie is desperate to release her inner witch. It runs in her family, and she’s been told more than once that she has the power too. By day Sophie is a dog walker, she loves animals and she daydreams about having a hunky werewolf boyfriend. What she didn’t dream about was being bitten by one and then accused of crimes she didn’t commit. Wolf shifter Trace bites Sophie, she’s the main suspect when a member of his pack goes missing and he needs to keep tabs on her. The chemistry between Sophie and Trace grows, and when they finally hook up it’s all pretty hot! But they still have a mystery to solve and a pack member to hunt down. Shift Happens is a funny, steamy, paranormal romance. It’s much more light hearted than similar stories in this genre making it an enjoyable and easy read.
I LOVED this book. Shift Happens was the perfect blend of sass, comedy, romance and supernatural. I read License to Bite (the first book in the series) a couple of months back and absolutely adored it so knew I had to try this one. It did not disappoint. Sophie was the perfect leading lady. She had me in stitches with her witty one-liners and I love how compassionate she was whilst also being a badass. I also loved the reappearance of Julie because those two are definitely a double-act that the world needs. And don't even get me started on Trace. He was divine in every sense of the word - beyond hot, passionate, cocky, cheeky and caring. Trace was what every supernatural romance reader needs in a shifter love interest.
The storyline was perfection. I loved that the characters all blend well and work together. It was such an enjoyable read, I'll definitely be taking another crack at it again in the future. The characters were so relatable and the world that Carrie Pulkinen - Author creates is just amazing; so many different types of supes, and instead of going into too much detail about that part of the fictional world, it's subtly introduced to you throughout the story so you don't feel like you're being forced into it. You're told what you need to know to set the scene without it being overbearing. I really would recommend this book to everyone. Even if you're not sure that supernatural romances are for you, give this a try and I have no doubt you'll be laughing as hard as I did!
Shift Happens: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy is the 2nd book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. This is not your average paranormal series. These books are hilarious and light hearted. While you don't HAVE to read the books in order, the story line does continue and characters and timeline overlap. And they are great, so do yourself a favor and read them all. I am already working on book 3. This book is the story of Sophie and Trace. Sophie is the best friend of Jane (from book 1). Sophie moved to New Orleans to follow her bff, and to follow a fortune teller prophesy. She believes she is a witch, since her grandmother was a witch. She wants to hook up with a werewolf, but that wish came with a little too much baggage attached. A were bites her by mistake, and it is the start of a whole series of problems. But its not all bad, it does bring her teamed up with Trace- smokin hot cop by day, werewolf by night. The banter between these two is hilarious and had me hooked from the start. There is so much sarcasm in these pages, you will be in tears from laughter.
Audio book Book 2 in the series. What can I say about : Carrie Pulkinen. Everyone should listen and read her stories. This is bookm2 in the series but it can be listened to as a stand-alone. Each story is about a different couple that connects and things happen. This one is no different. Hero is Marks. Heroine is Sophie. Marks is second in command of his pack. The Apha gives him a command , to find his pack mate , Jackson, who went puff , disappeared. Sophie is a witch or she tries to be , her grandmother was a powerful witch, with Sophie what ever she tries nothing happens. The pack think that Sophie put a spell on Jackson and the pack. Not only that but Marks bit Sophie 98% she might change into a wearwolf. Grab it and see if Sophie gets her wish and becomes a Witch or does she turn into a wearwolf. What happened to Jackson
Hollie Jackson Is fantastic with her performance. She did all the characters great. You can tell which character is who by Hollie tone
Book 2 in Pulkinen's New Orleans Nocturnes series. A continuation from book 1 - License to Bite but in this read our main characters are Sofie and Trace. Recurring characters from book 1 and intro's to new characters in this fantastically fun paranormal rom/com. Full of sweet romance, some steamy chemistry and plenty of laughs and fun banter. Sofie is an independent woman and along with her best friend Jane from book 1 - they are ready to safe the supernatural world one problem at a time. Sofie has a special connection to animals and when she discovers that werewolves are real is dead set on meeting one...and meeting one she does! Narration is perfectly done with wonderful southern accent which living in the south I appreciate oh so much! I know the adventures will continue and I just can't even wait! Completely addicted to this author and narrator and this series altogether!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review. *this review is based on the audio version of this read.
Shift Happens: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy ( New Orleans Nocturnus Book 2) By Carrie Pulkinen 4 Stars
Sophie’s grandmother was a witch and she desperately wants to be one as well. All her friends say that she smells like one but she can’t cast a spell if her life depended on it. After getting bit by a werewolf, there is a high probability that she’ll turn into one herself. She wanted to have sex with one, not become one.
Trace is second in command of his pack and is sure Sophie is behind the disappearance of one of his pack mates. He’s already gotten involved with the enemy before with horrible results but can he resist the charms of this beautiful witch?
This series just keeps getting better with every book. Shift Happens is a lighthearted romantic comedy filled with lovable characters. Sophie is feisty and awkward and Trace is hot as sin. Between the humour and the romance, this book with pull you in from the start and you’ll never want it to end.
Shift Happens: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy by Carrie Pulkinen is the second book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series. These are fun, paranormal romantic stories that will keep you laughing. This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading them in order because characters carry over from story to story. Sophie is a struggling witch who cannot seem to come into her powers, her best friend has become a vampire, and all she wants is some time to get to know a handsome werewolf intimately. What could go wrong? Of course, nothing is easy for Sophie but she finds her forever family and all works out in the end. Sophie is a funny character full of sass. She knows what she wants and she goes for it. Trace is the sexy werewolf and he finds Sophie is more than a quick escapade for him. This book is a quick read but great while stuck at home. It had me laughing a lot and was light and delightful. I look forward to reading more in this series.
Shift Happens is the second book in Carrie Pulkinen’s New Orleans Nocturnes series and this time we are hanging out with witches and werewolves! You can read it as a standalone but why would you not start with book one if you love New Orleans and paranormal romantic comedy AND the heroine is Shift Happens heroine’s friend! Shift Happens picks up where License to Bite left off. Jane’s friend Sophie is in trouble and she is not very competent as a witch. She gets accidentally bitten by Trace Thibodeaux, a smoking hot werewolf who is investigating Sophie as his pack has been cursed and guess who is the suspect … right, Sophie … I promise you that you will laugh a lot – Sophie has a mouth on her and she lets it fly! Trace is an alpha and hot as sin and their chemistry is through the roof! I would not mind being investigated by Trace either if this is how he does it! Shift Happens is a quick read that leaves you reaching for the next one in the series!
