An avid reader since a tender young age, writing came naturally as this only child used her imagination to keep herself entertained. Participating in poetry slams and hosting open mic nights led her to writing monologues and one act plays.
The rise of self-publishing opened new doors and with the constant support of friends, family, Sorority sisters and a close-knit group of esteemed authors and bloggers (known as the SmutSisters), J.L. Pleasant found her niche. Adversity brought her to a wondrous place in her life journey. Being a brain aneurysm survivor, J.L. is forever grateful for each day afforded to her.
J.L. Pleasant enjoys many creative outlets including makeup artistry, karaoke, community service projects, dance, theatre, tequila, traveling, and of course books. (And not in that order)
