Rebels Flame by Bria Lexor

⅗ stars.

The author asked me to read and review this book and I gladly accepted. It is a fantasy romance that includes dragons. It gave off the vibes of if Fourth Wing and The Lunar Chronicles had a baby.

I enjoyed this book, but it would have been better if it had been longer. Due to the short nature of the book, a lot of the events felt rushed and not as fleshed out as they could have been. I feel like giving the characters more time to develop relationships and for the world to become better developed would have improved the experience of the book.

I did like the dragons, I would like dragons in any media. But what I specifically liked about these was that pink and purple dragons are relatively common colors in dragons, which I have not seen in many media.

The book did end with a cliffhanger which left me wanting more. This is probably not something I would reread but I did enjoy the time I put into it! Thank you again to the author for giving me this opportunity!

DNF

I had such high hopes, but the story felt rushed. It almost felt like a 'fanfic'. I'm sure some will like it, just not my cup of tea.

Rebels Flame by Bria Lexor is a extremely short, but I am very sorry to say, a terrible book. In fact I was really surprised to see this author has written over sixty books because this book read like a creative writing assignment of a seventh grader. The world building was nowhere to be found and the sentence structuring was extremely bad. There was no depth to the characters at all. The conversations were clunky and unnatural. There was no real character development or world development. Nothing was explained properly. The author just droned on as if she wanted to finish the book as fast as possible. I didn’t know I could dnf a book that’s only about 100 pages long but I got bored really quickly, i.e is around fiftieth page. This book is the prime example of how a pretty cover can be deceptive.

This was an enjoyable read filled with plot twists and hooking storylines! I was eager to find out what was coming next and at times found myself on the edge of my seat with anticipation! Some storylines were left as loose ends however and parts of the story moved faster then I could keep up but the pace was mostly compatible with my adhd brain which I appreciated! Definitely an enjoyable read and I look forward to the next book to come so I can continue the story of these fascinating and complex characters!
half-dragon characters, oracles, found family, royalty, alternate timelines and universes etc - uh YES PLEASE Also Sixus x Livia foreverrr! What a power couple !
