Atlas is a strong Alpha who is well respected and loved. But no one truly knew the dark secret that shackled him. His sister, Iris, who is just as loved is the liaison between both the human and werewolf race. The siblings were all they had left of their bloodline. Unless you include their mother who has been missing. The thing is, humans have recently become aware of the existence of werewolves and because of this, Iris' wolf (Nora) is later caught in a bear trap set up by hunters.
Hunters have become a big problem for the wolves and they stop at nothing to hunt for a trophy but just before she is killed, a mysterious giant wolf saves her. Atlas, catches a glimpse of that wolf and is struck by more than just gratitude. There was something else and he was determined to find out what it was. Atlas sets out to find his sister's savior and discovers he is right about what he feels. From a distance, he knows what the moon goddess has in store for him but he struggles to accept the gift and retreats. Then one day, Atlas' Beta, Mavis, finds a man unconscious in a cave with a wounded leg that smells like no other wolf he's known. Not sure if he is a threat, Mavis captures the man and brings him to the pack house to treat him while locking him up. Atlas follows the familiar wonderful scent into his basement, excited to find his fate sitting there...naked?

Really good world building with the added interest of a special type of werewolf. However for me it felt more like a number of short episodes somewhat haphazardly glued together. I regularly struggled to figure out why the plot quickly changed yet again and whose POV I was reading at the time. It was too choppy for me although with lots of good ideas.

Lizbeth Concepcion's debut in the paranormal romance genre, "The Silver Lining," proves to be a refreshing addition. The Lunar River Series starts off with a bang, showcasing Concepcion's ability to construct a captivating world with meticulous detail. From the outset, the narrative establishes a brisk yet consistent pace, ensuring readers are hooked from page one and reluctant to put the book down as they navigate through its twists and turns.

While rooted in werewolf mythology, Concepcion enriches the narrative by incorporating a profound element involving a 'phoenix' like force that cyclically reincarnates through different alphas across generations. This unique twist adds depth and intrigue to the storyline, setting it apart from conventional werewolf tales.

In "The Silver Lining," readers are introduced to Atlas and Cassius, two complex characters whose paths are destined to intertwine as mates. Atlas, a formidable Alpha dedicated to safeguarding his pack, harbors his own inner demons, while Cassius, scarred by a tumultuous upbringing, shies away from seeking love. Surrounding them is a well-rounded cast of supporting characters that further enriches the immersive world Concepcion has crafted. Beyond the surface of a typical wolf narrative, the story delves into themes of childhood trauma and familial struggles, eliciting genuine empathy from readers who yearn for a happy resolution.

Yet, Concepcion does not shy away from the harsh realities of trauma, portraying its enduring effects with sensitivity and realism. However, amidst the darkness, the narrative highlights the transformative power of love and the unbreakable bonds of pack and family, offering a glimmer of hope for even the most shattered hearts.

In "The Silver Lining," Lizbeth Concepcion demonstrates her prowess in crafting a compelling paranormal romance that transcends the boundaries of the genre, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next installment in the Lunar River Series.

“With what I just saw, I’m glad that you found Atlas. I hope you find happiness in each other.”

I really enjoyed this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. This story wasted no time getting you hooked as we begin with the horror of Cassius' past. I liked the werewolf mythos in this world and the way packs are. And learning more and in connection to Cassius. I loved Atlas and the bond between him as Cass and the way they connected. Their chemistry sizzled. I also loved the supporting characters and can't wait for Kristopher and Iris' story next. This was the first book I've read by this author and I will be continuing. 5 stars.

*I got this book for free, but this opinion is my own.*
The story was good and entertaining. I really enjoyed the characters. The descriptions are nicely done. I know you're not supposed to start a story with a dream, but this one was a rare exception. I was interested right away.
On the other hand, the description, though nicely done, slows the pace a lot. On the same note, the author could work on writing suspense. The scenes that I feel should be suspenseful have the idea, but as it is, it just feels kind of hollow.
Other than that, I enjoyed the story.

Interesting new backstory of paranormals. Werewolves is newly discovered by humans so they set out traps for the weres. Iris, is caught in a bear trap and just before she is killed, a mysterious wolf arrives to save her. The author does a good job with the worldbuilding adding a new twist to the supernatural world. Confusing that the wolves had different names than their human forms. I was confused a bit at first. Lots of characters, wolves have a fun sense of humor. Interesting set up for a new series. Nice story, stops a bit abruptly. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was interested in the blurb of the book, but the book itself did not suit me. No TWs mention, writing style, both MCs dealing with different traumas, mystery. It was too much things for me.
I give it 3 stars because i don't think it is a bad book, but just not for me.

Let me preface this by saying I don't normally go for werewolf books, however this seemed to be a bit different than the norm.

It is a MxM romance, and both leads are quite loveable.

I enjoyed there wasn't a major emphasis on Alpha this Alpha that, or Alpha's getting away with bad behavior cause they were the Alpha. In fact for one of them its quite the opposite.

There are interesting twists and turns and some really unexpected additions to the storyline that I enjoyed.

If you are looking for a new werewolf read I highly suggest this book.

DNF @ 24%

I liked the idea of the book, but the writing style was not for me. Plus, there were some confusing parts. Additionally, I felt like the blurb was a little misleading bc the story didn’t quite match it.
