Honestly, I'm not really a fan of science fiction with cyberpunk themes, so I didn't have high expectations after reading the description. I just went with the flow to see how it would go.
The plot at the start of the novel felt quite familiar, as if I had read a book with a similar storyline before. The title is at the tip of my tongue, but I couldn’t remember even after I reached the end of the novel.
The story was unique and interesting, set in a futuristic world with an enhanced humanoid as the main characters, one enhanced genetically and the other mechanically. It might have been a bit overpowered, but I suppose that's what makes adventure novels captivating.
The character development was well-crafted. Each character, including the side characters, had a distinct personality that remained consistent throughout the novel. Similarly, The humor stayed the same throughout, regardless of the difficulties faced by the characters in the story. The insinuations in the conversations were hilarious.
The romance developed gradually as the story unfolded, avoiding a sudden "fall in love at first sight" scenario. The significant age gap did strike me as a bit odd, but given the futuristic setting where human lifespans are longer and appearances change less, I tried to overlook it.
I have to admit, the plot was quite engaging initially. However, like many of the author's novels, it began strongly but ended weakly. It wasn't as noticeable in "Top Edge," but the shift to a mystery detective story at some point felt odd to me. Apart from that, some parts of the plot felt a bit forced or out of place. It felt like the author took all her ideas and mixed them up in a novel. But honestly, that's my only criticism.
I did enjoy trying to guess how the story would unfold or figuring out the truth behind the backstory. I can't really say if it was just predictable or if my strong guessing ability helped me guess most of it correctly.
Overall, "Top Edge" wasn't a wow read for me, but I enjoyed reading and guessing the story. It made me feel like I was participating in an interactive game, and I love that feeling of being able to engage with a book. It was an intriguing read that would pique one’s curiosity.

Te amo, Klet. Si el resto de los hombres fuesen como tú, la tasa de natalidad mundial no estaría en declive. 🌷 Es un tipazo: se tatuó la cara de su novio en el pecho, está 🫦 y se dispuso a grabar vídeos contando anécdotas de cada día de su matrimonio al final de la novela. ¿Ya dije que lo amo? Pues, lo diré otra vez más: amo a Klet. Qué bien come el capitán Shen. 🤧
Escribiré algo más coherente luego. Debo adelantar que mi calificación puede ser subjetiva y que acepto que el autor pudo haber aprovechado más el universo que presentaba, pero todo eso quedó recompensando con Klet y la tremenda química entre los protagonistas. Esa escena en donde Shen Siwei avienta sus zapatos y Klet se pone a recogerlos mientras lo tiene cargado en brazos prácticamente desnudo me cambió como mujer.
Gracias, Marita, por insistirme en leer esta novela. 😭 Es mi favorita de este año a la fecha.

Disfruté mucho esta lectura, me encantó la química entre Shen Siwei y Klet, jodeeer la tensión entre ellos uffff. Ambos se robaron mi corazón, se aman tanto que no les importaría sacrificar al mundo entero con tal de estar juntos.
Si bien quedé varias veces con la boca abierta con cada plow tist. Sentí que faltaban algunas cosas para darle las 5 estrellas.
Pd. Quiero dar un agradecimiento especial a Malken, por hacerme reír a costa de los golpes de Klet 😂

I give a solid 5 stars to every danmei that manages to pull me into deep reading while making me giggle and kick my pillow like crazy.
I picked up this book on a whim as my first danmei of the year. A lot of mutuals recommended it as a great age-gap danmei, and I can totally see why!
Let me tell you why this book is so good and why you absolutely need to read it:
✅ Sci-Fi, Post-Apocalypse: The setting is so cool—super far in the future, like way after Spongebob was last relevant (even playgrounds are ancient history).
✅ Epic Action Scenes: The action is so exciting, especially when the bottom character is involved—it’s just badass. There’s not a ton of action, though—it leans more into adventure and political drama—but what’s there is amazing.
✅ Simple Politics: The political stuff isn’t overcomplicated, so it’s easy to keep up.
✅ Smooth Translation: The version I read was well-translated and easy to follow, which is always a bonus.
✅ Big Age Gap: The bottom is older, the top is younger, and the gap is MASSIVE. It totally works for the story, though, and it’s not some wild fantasy thing—it actually makes sense here.
✅ Enemies to Lovers: Picture this—the noble bottom meets the “bandit” leader top as a negotiator. They’re on opposite sides socially and politically, so the tension is chef’s kiss.
✅ Love-Hate Dynamic: They bicker constantly because they think so differently, but it’s hilarious and so cute watching them slowly fall for each other. You’ll be obsessed with their interactions.
✅ Childish, Dog-Like Boss Top: The bottom keeps calling the top “childish,” even though he’s the leader of the group. Over time, the tough top softens up and becomes super clingy, but when he’s in serious mode, he’s insanely powerful.
✅ Superhuman Cat-Like Bottom: The bottom isn’t your average human—he’s ridiculously strong. It’s hilarious when the top tries to kiss him and gets sent flying.
✅ Not a Slow Burn: Their relationship builds pretty quickly, and the chemistry is there from the start. What I love is that they’re rarely apart, so you get to see them grow closer throughout the story. The drama and feels are all there, too!
✅ Multiship: There are at least three ships (if I caught everything), including the main one. You get a mix of main yaoi, tragic yaoi, and cute yaoi, and they all end in marriage—except the doom ship (sigh).
✅ Pregnancy and Marriage: Yep, male pregnancy is a thing in this world, even if it’s not explicitly shown. It’s explained in a pretty unique way, though, which makes it interesting.
✅ Plot Twists Everywhere: This book loves its twists, so pay attention to the details, or they’ll hit you out of nowhere. I usually see plot twists coming, but this one got me a few times. By the end, I had some serious trust issues (in a good way).
But let’s be real, there are a few downsides too:
➖ The antagonist can be kinda dumb at times. Like, compared to how smart the protagonist is, the villain's plans feel super shallow. No wonder the protagonist always manages to outsmart them and escape.
➖ Shounen ai. Yeah, this is a downside because the sexual tension is off the charts. Like, c’mon, just give us at least one proper sex scene to satisfy my hunger! 😂
➖ No extra scenes, no kids. Ugh, okay, maybe this is just me being greedy, but I really wanted more cute family moments with the main couple. 😅
If any of this catches your interest, give it a read. You won’t regret it!

-¿Por qué sería agotador?- Klet dijo: -Aún tengo que registrar nuestro día diez mil y nuestro día cien mil de matrimonio.
Inexplicablemente, Shen Siwei de repente creyó que Klet definitivamente lo lograría. Cuando se trataba de su relación, siempre se sentía muy sincero.
-Ven aquí-Shen Siwei levantó el brazo y lo enganchó alrededor del cuello de Klet, -No importa cuánto tiempo grabes, estaré contigo.
Klet aprovechó la oportunidad para besar a Shen Siwei: -Eso significa para siempre, sin fecha de vencimiento."
5* para Top Edge, es una historia muy emocionante y atrapante. Me encanta el hecho de que Shen Siwei y Klet sean tan poderosos y es una locura hasta que punto pueden llegar por el otro. La verdad no soy amiga del time skip ni de la amnesia y sí, me estresé un montón con el time skip en Top Edge pero considero que de cierta manera se manejó muy bien, a la final no terminó por ser tan desesperante y amé a Klet estando tan seguro de que esa persona era su negociador... Según mara la amnesia tiene lo suyo y capaz le doy la razón acá porque realmente es muy conmovedor ver como se enamora Shen Siwei de Klet CADA VEZ y como siguiendo su intuición termina por creer siempre en Klet.
Ahora, KLET ES TAN PERFECTO!!! no hay más palabras, DIME Klet como vas a documentar TODOS LOS DÍAS tú vida junto a Shen Siwei ¿¡CÓMO DIOS!? MI CORAZÓN!! Sé que es algo hermoso pero no dejo de pensar en Klet estando SOLO esos 5 años y simplemente mirando las grabaciones de las cámaras de seguridad que habían captado a Shen Siwei PORQUE NO TENÍA MÁS AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH Gracias autor por no darnos el pov de Klet porque estoy segura que no me habría recuperado emocionalmente de eso.

No me arrepiento de leer Top Edge, es literatura. 🚬

I LOVE cyberpunk, and this scratched the itch.
With Shen Siwei’s modified skin, brain chip, changing coloration, and enhanced musculature, he was overpowered in a way that could be considered annoying, but since he was kept in check by his disguise and military superior, Moran, there wasn’t a ridiculous power imbalance. Also, his strength wasn’t always a good thing because it made him a military asset, a tool, and not a person to people like Moran and General Miller.
I do wish the author went more in depth on the unethical nature of these experiments because as far as I understand, Shen Siwei didn’t choose to be modified, but considering that it’s helped him in the long run, it does fit his character that he would be more indifferent to his own lack of consent and appreciate the enhanced strength.
Klet was an interesting character from the outset. His loyalty didn’t exactly belong to the refugees, but anytime a civilian was in danger, he wouldn’t hesitate to protect them. It took him a while to trust Shen Siwei, but once he did, he was locked in. Not only that, he was downright obsessive. His Marg bloodline explained a lot about his physical strength and height, and I appreciated that the story didn’t go stagnant even when the main pairing got together. In fact, that might have been why Klet got so intense. He wanted his little honeymoon, and his boyfriend kept risking his life.
This wasn’t a long read, but it was definitely a good one.

Por fin con tiempo libre para terminarla; puedo decir que la disfrute mucho, sin embargo siento que la comencé con muchas expectativas ya que al principio sentí que no me convencía y pensé que tal vez afecto el hecho de que tenia que pausar la lectura y perdía el hilo, pero afortunadamente ahora que ya tuve el tiempo y pude continuarla me termino encantando más que al principio,
Es una novela corta, con capítulos muy rápidos de leer, la trama a mi parecer avanza un poco rápido y pero es facil de comprender lo que esta sucediendo, por lo que creo que es perfecta para cuando quieres leer algo sin tener que preocuparte por una trama muy enrededa o personajes nuevos cada capitulo.
La pareja principal me gusto mucho y más porque tiene uno de mis tags favoritos que es amnesia y la tension entre esos dos es uff. Eso sí, faltó que tuvieran un hijo que tanto quería Klet 😿

crazy. not exactly five stars but i had so much fun reading this, witerally could not put down. i wish the world building had a bit more detail but it didn’t really bother me ngl. great read except the random murder mystery at the end was a little weird??? but not bad??? i also wish the characters had a just a little bit more depth but whatever it was a quick read and still great.

Terminei hoje enquanto estava vindo para trabalhar.
Não posso dizer que foi uma decepção porque eu não esperava muito da história, até porque só tinha colocado na minha TBR para preencher a quantidade de danmeis que eu queria (e, no fim, vou alterar novamente porque quero tirar algumas histórias e trocar por outras).
A escrita é bem tranquila, nem o universo, nem os personagens e nem o plot são complexos. Na verdade, são bem rasos, extremamente rasos. Achei o desenvolvimento geral da história muito fraco e tudo absurdamente vazio. Tipo, em um parágrafo acontece um homicídio e três parágrafos depois o protagonista aparece e magicamente desvenda toda a situação e no próximo parágrafo usa isso como artimanha em jogo politico. Não é algo que a gente não veja em outras novels, mas foi tudo absurdamente corrido.
Eu gostei do Shen Siwei, achei ele um personagem interessante que, se tivesse só um pouco mais de profundidade e coerência, ele provavelmente seria um dos meus favoritos. Pareceu uma versão meio fraquinha do An Wujiu e do Shen Zhuo, talvez?
De qualquer forma, tem algumas cenas engraçadinhas. Não li esperando nada demais, só queria ler algo mais curto para diminuir o ritmo, já que as últimas novels que li foram todas com plot mais complexo e com muitos capítulos. Mas realmente, Top Edge deixou a desejar, considerando a propaganda que é feita da história.
Os vilões são péssimos e burros (menos o Amor, que não pode ser considerado um vilão), os secundários tem todos a mesma personalidade. O Klet (ML) é um esquisito que não teve desenvolvimento nenhum. Na verdade, não há nada nele, consegue ser pior que o desenvolvimento dos secundários da MXTX.
Enfim, 3 estrelas porque dei muitas risadinhas com o enemies to lovers do Shen Siwei e do Klet, adorei todas as vezes que eles ficavam se bicando durante os períodos de amnésia do Siwei.
Não posso dizer que foi uma decepção porque eu não esperava muito da história, até porque só tinha colocado na minha TBR para preencher a quantidade de danmeis que eu queria (e, no fim, vou alterar novamente porque quero tirar algumas histórias e trocar por outras).
A escrita é bem tranquila, nem o universo, nem os personagens e nem o plot são complexos. Na verdade, são bem rasos, extremamente rasos. Achei o desenvolvimento geral da história muito fraco e tudo absurdamente vazio. Tipo, em um parágrafo acontece um homicídio e três parágrafos depois o protagonista aparece e magicamente desvenda toda a situação e no próximo parágrafo usa isso como artimanha em jogo politico. Não é algo que a gente não veja em outras novels, mas foi tudo absurdamente corrido.

O começo foi mais interessante que o final. Acho que no final, começou a arrastar muito a história, não ficou mais tão legal. Parecia que a autora não tinha mais pra onde ir. A relação dos dois protagonistas foi bem mais ou menos. Tiveram alguns plot twists legais, mas tudo bem previsivel. Os personagens secundários no geral não chamaram atenção. A ambientação foi legal, mas não achei que foi bem explorada. O romance dos 2 ficou bem raso. Achei o final corrido e foi mais um jeito da autor fazer “pronto acabou”. Acho que eu quis começar a ler esse livro com expectativa demais. O que atrapalhou um pouco a minha experiência, no final eu só queria acabar e não estava mais me investindo na leitura. Um livro bom mais nada demais.

This is such a beautiful novella
, words can't express it. I loved every minute of it and I completely devoured every word. The character interactions were funny and natural, which really helped the story.
The overall plot was very interesting and my only wish in life is to be reincarnated without any memories from this life so I can read this masterpiece again. (╥﹏╥)⋆. 𐙚 ˚🫶🏻

it's a great book with a great plot actually, but I can't finish it because I think it's too rushed. For someone portrayed so powerful in the book I think Shen Siwei gave his big secret too easily. I don't know, maybe it's my attention span, I just can't finish it. sorry
