I can’t believe I kept reading till the end of this book and I’m glad it was only 60 odd pages.
From Chapter 1 the alarm bells started going off. What a way to speak to someone who doesn’t know you but is offering you room and board after you’ve run out of church, leaving your groom standing there in Church, in front of all the guests. Unbelievable.
Suspending belief from here on, despite guffawing frequently and scaring my dog, but the cliches were too many and too much. The MF is rude, snappy to her brother’s best friend who obligingly allows her into his home due to her emergency situation.
A couple of days later she gets naked with the guy in his kitchen, “Oh I need You Max”, “More than anything Max”. Next day she is snarky and rude again and Max has fallen madly in love with her. Come On, give me a break.
Plus the verbal and situational cliches continued right to the last page.
Everything was just too rushed, no build up to an intimate relationship at all.
No, I’m sorry but I just didn’t connect with these two characters at all.
I don’t know if this is a debut book by this author but I hope their next books will have more character development and not such a rushed storyline.

Running Towards Her Forever - There was real tension between Lily and Max the first time they met, but it escalated to higher level, which led them to engage in an encounter filled with unconstraint pleasures. However, just as they resolved the awkwardness between them from their night together, Lily accidentally uncovered a secret Max was keeping from her. Lily’s discovery caused friction between them and derailed their budding romance, so Max did everything within his power to get them back on track to getting the happy life they both wanted.
This is the first book I have read from this author and I really enjoyed it so much, that I couldn't put it down until I finished. I am happy to recommend this book and I am really looking forward to read more of her books in the future.
I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Talk about troupes, there’s no shortage of them in this book. Billionaire boss, enemies to lovers, age-gap, forced proximity and grumpy silver fox. Lily and Max will take you on an emotional roller coaster. He’s her brother’s best friend and he offers her a place to stay after she left her fiance at the altar. He’s controlling and there’s a lot of tension between them that explodes into passion. The story was really a novella and seemed a little rush with a weak epilogue. Basically a cute story. I received a free advanced copy of this book and I voluntarily chose to leave a review.
I can tell what the author attempted with this story, but unfortunately it fell flat from beginning to end. It's too unrealistic even for a fictional fantasy. If you're looking for a quick lackluster smut story to pass the time, then you might enjoy it. I didn't.
The plot felt a bit rushed. It was still a good read, and the characters were relatable ... grumpy, slightly jaded MMC, and a younger, determined, and vaguely innocent-viewing FMC.
