"I'd made my bed, now I had to lie in it and hope Jakob didn't climb in beside me."
Anja is saved from torture and death only to find a new kind of imprisonment at Jakob's side. Thanks to his stifling restrictions, Anja feels more like she's under house arrest than ever, unable to so much as share an honest conversation with Rob, let alone act on what her heart wants. Desperate to assert her control and avoid Jakob's oppressive influence, Anja returns to the West as war erupts, forcing the Order underground and under her protection. Determined to win her love back, Bishop leaves everything behind to be by her side, making it difficult for Anja to choose who to let into her heart. But there's a reason for Jakob's obsession with Anja's safety, an old enemy that frightens even the powerful Ellri himself. It's never been a more dangerous time for those Anja loves.
Lisa Olsen is a writer, wife and mother of two, currently living in the Pacific Northwest. A complete TV addict, she also enjoys online RPG's, singing, reading, and cooking.
I have snatched up every installment in this series and have been pleasantly surprised at how much I have enjoyed them, but soothing they are not.
Anja's life is complicated and it seems to get more and more complicated with each book, she moves ahead at all times and tried to be positive but her personal life stays in shambles most of the time IMHO. This book is no different.
After Jakob saves the day in the last book in a fashion that Superman could not have pulled off I was looking forward to a book that was upbeat and getting towards that "happy ever after" that I know has to be out there someplace for her (it does ...... right?)
Well unfortunately Jakob is a major pain (that is mild but I don't want Amazon to delete my review) and just when you think you wish somebody would wipe his smug, overbearing butt off the map you find he is trying to protect Anja after all. At the end of this book you still won't know exactly what to think of him but he becomes a much smaller problem.
She loves Rob but if she shows it Jakob would most likely kill him so that kinda takes the buzz off that romance but once again .... not the big thing here.
Since I don't do spoilers, all I can say is that when the REAL problem raises it's ugly head it is a MAJOR "WTF are we gonna do now" moment and I guess Ms Olsen felt that since she gave us such an awesome ending last time, she is gonna make us suffer a bit at the end of this one. Close to a cliffhanger as you can get without really calling it one.
My heart may stop before the next book in this series comes out. Grab this book if you are a fan, if not go back to book #1 and get started NOW. Highly recommended and a 5 Star series, I gave this 4 stars because it left so many things up in the air and only settled a very few of them,
Well, well, well, I must say that "Hear Me When The Sun Goes Down" is definitely the best book in the Forged Bloodlines series. This book begins right where the previous book ended.
Anja hands out punishment against the head of the Order who tortured her and her friends. After discovering Aubrey has killed Silvenes, Anja demands justice but Jakob does nothing; so, she breaks of her affiliation with the Vetis and storms out.
As Anja heads back to America she is talked into taking Rob 's cousin with them. It seems her fans in San Francisco are more interested in Jakob than her and she is concerned that Jakob maybe trying to undermine her authority.
Bishop realizes he made a mistake by letting Anja go but it is too late. Anja and Rob continue to try and hide their feelings for each other but some people begin to notice. Jakob wants Anja back and becomes both possessive and overly protective until Anja learns he has an ancient enemy who is seeking vengeance.
Anja sister has broken off her relationship with Mason and run off to the Caribbean with someone new. When Anja finally gets to meet him, everyone quickly realizes he is not what he seems and danger is lurking around the corner. As Anja works to protect those she loves, she will have to call upon her greatest strength yet and some of her people may not survive.
There is plenty of action, torment and lots afoot in this read. Anja and her friends face her greatest advisories to date. The ending is just heart wrenching but promises so much excitement and intrigue to come. I can't wait for the next book and hope we don't have to endure too long before the next book comes out.
This is the latest installment to the Forged Bloodlines series by the very talented Lisa Olsen. In every one of her books, I can tell you my favorite part, there’s always that one part that stands out above the rest of the story, that one part I always go back and re-read again and again...but not this time. This time the whole book is the best part. I’ve never read a book before where I couldn’t name my favorite part, until now. There was so much packed into this one book, so much happened and so many things were answered at the same time that new questions arose.
We got to see more of old friends and meet new characters. Some of them kind of awesome like Laveda, and some of them not so much…I’ll leave that to you to figure out… we get to learn more about our favorite characters and get to know them on a deeper level than we have before.
I started reading this book and before I knew it, it was the middle of the night and I hadn’t moved from my chair in a few hours. Lisa Olsen has a way of writing that lets you fall into a different world and make you feel like you are a part of it, and you get a little sad when it’s time to leave. Which is why I always wait in anticipation for a new book, so that I can visit my friends, whether they be old friends or new ones that I’m just getting to meet, I always know that I will be made to feel at home in the pages of these stories.
So if you haven’t read any of her stuff yet, or just haven’t read this book yet…do it, do it now! You are missing out on meeting some wonderful people.
If you read the other books in the series you have read this book already. It starts where the other book left off with Anja claimed by Jakob in vetis lands. The first part plays out with vampire politics while chaos builds back in the west. The problems back home build through the early parts and even to the middle. What I didn't like is that instead of actually dealing with it Jakob speaks a sentence and the matter is done. The whole plot thread was pointless.
The problem I had with this book is that the focus is all about Anja's relationships. It's all tragic romance on repeat. Bishop wants Anja but it's too late. Except Anja still wants him too....kind of. She also loves Rob and Rob loves her but pushes her away because of Jakob. Then there is the Jakob angle.
This book has no political intrigue or action. Anja is under guard and just shuffles about moping about her life. You do get some real answers in the end but with the way the author set up the vampiric compulsions Anja really has no chance to do much of anything on her own. For all her strength she comes off as helpless. Anja has no hidden strength. No secret that can elevate her to more than she is. I'm not sure I will continue with this series. It's all stale romance and boring politics.
I tore through the rest of this series one after another after another. Then when I reached this one, it took me nearly as long to read this one book as it did the entire rest of the series. Nothing happens. It's almost like a "Part 1". Like it was only half of a novel. I don't know whether it's because the other books are that good or if this one really is that bad, but I am going to regard this as an intro to the next (and hopefully better) book in the series.
Holy cow! I don't know how she does it! Hear Me from the Forged Bloodlines series kept me hanging on every word! What an excellent read! Although I have to say I'm torn between Rob and Bishop, I adore the developing relationship between Rob and Anja. As for Jakob, I'd like to slap him myself! The end is driving me nuts as I scramble to get to the next book. This one will definitely make your jaw drop!
What a roller coaster ride. I'm not sure if I love or hate Lisa Olsen. There are so many things happening in this book. Happy to see more of Bishop. Sad that it's not where I want it to be. I am still waffling between Team Rob and Team Bishop. I think Jakob needs to find someone else. Just my opinion. Are you intrigued. Fantastic book. Get your copy today! From a true Fan... Pam James.
The plot thickens . . . onto Book 7. I cannot stop! I'm so glad these books were all written and published before I started to read the series. I would be unhappy to wait for the next installment. Olsen holds her card of events, plot twists and turns very close to the vest. Pacing is sometimes frantic and sometimes, painfully deliberate. GREAT SERIES, definitely a good read. Onto Book 7.
All the books have been good but this one tops it. The action and twist on the story was very compelling. I thoroughly enjoyed the buildup in relationships between the characters. Can't wait to see how it will continue.
I can't stand Anja because I feel like all she does is play with men's hearts and minds and I hope she gets hers in the end. She acts like she doesn't do it on purpose but she does.
