“Every once in a while each of our lives stalls a little. We may not feel as happy as we once did or new circumstances have taken our priorities away from ourselves. We begin to feel like life is a series of duties rather than fulfilling moments. We lose touch with ourselves and wonder how to reconnect with a joyous, fulfilling, and happy life. Unfortunately, a trusty magic wand is of little use. We must each do some soul-searching and re-prioritizing.” Susan Spira

Written in a fun, down-to-earth, practical style The Happy Tips Book is like having a friend on your shoulder prompting you to take care of yourself. I received this book yesterday courtesy of the author and Goodreads Giveaways. It was a very quick read and it arrived at a good time for me as I have been "stuck" in grief for a long time now. Many of the "tips" rang true to me, and I received many suggestions so that hopefully I can move forward. Some of the suggestions I had simply forgotten about, like treating yourself as someone special by using the "good" china and silver every day and also to put daily emphasis on relationships rather than material possessions. I will keep this book near to me and reach for it on bad days. Thanks to the author for an insightful little book.

This is one of the most inane books I have ever read. Totally useless.

The author has gathered 100 “feel good” sayings that she probably took from the internet and placed them in a book. None of these adages are explained or provided in detail. All are less than a full page. Most are simply two to three sentences. Many are contradictory as well. On the positive side, you can read the book in under an hour.

Fortunately, I was provided a copy of the book to review and did not waste any money on it. Unfortunately, I wasted half an hour reading it.

Full of Gems

This book was a very pleasant read. Definitely a book that needs to be shared. I enjoyed reading it multiple times to keep my mindset positive and vibrations high. I will be looking for the hardcover to keep at my business for clients to read.

I was lucky enough to win a copy of this in a Goodreads giveaway. That sure did make me happy (terrible pun, I know but hey, there is a reason I’m a reader and not a writer!). "The Happy Tips Book", by Susan Spira is a short book that has 100 tips on things that you can do or things that you can think about, little tips, that might be useful to make a person a little bit happier in their lives. One can sit and read through the entire book, as I did, or one can randomly pick a page daily, or one can even look up through the 100 tips and pick one that might be relevant to the day at hand. Whatever works for the individual with the book in hand. There are many ways to read this short little happy guide.

This book was short, but very good. If you are feeling down, it might do you some good to just pick this book up and give it a shot. Read a little and get a lift in your day or life. If you were to follow the tips and really pay attention to what is being discussed, you might find that you are able to do one thing a day, week, month, etc. that can change you for the better. For example, “Moving out of a comfort zone always means…” is a tip that is brilliant. Of course I’m not going to finish it or tell what tip number it is because, as per usual if you’ve ever read any of my other reviews, I don’t like to give the book away so that you have to read it for yourself because it’s better that way, but if you were to actually utilize the tip, you might find that it could improve your life just a bit, or a whole lot.

In the end, I would say that this book is very good at opening up eyes that might be closed or half closed and reminds each person that just a slight thing can make your life a little (or a lot) happier. I recommend giving it a chance because anything that might make you happier is always worth it.

I work with seniors and I facilitate support groups so I'm attracted to literature that I can use in my groups. The Happy Tips Book is a neat little book that contains one short tip on each page that inspires positive, happy thoughts and actions. Here are some of the ones I liked:

- Moving out of a comfort zone always means learning and growth.
- Don't waste your energy with toxic people.
- Make your partner your one true friend and hold that relationship sacred.
- Make special time each day to concentrate on laughter.
- Embrace the age you are. Live your life and not your age.

Just like this author's book One-Liners for Life, this is a great book to carry in your purse, share with your friends or use to meditate when you have a few spare moments during the day. I use it in my day programs with seniors as conversation starters and in my support groups to encourage reflection. The author states in her introduction regarding the tips, "They are simple tips: easy to pick and choose. They are tips that give permission and tips that spark or prompt introspection. It only takes one spark to make a huge difference."

It's true that many of the tips in this book is advice I've heard before but it's the kind that one doesn't tire of hearing. On the contrary, the reminders are good. And I love the cover of this book. So attractive and meaningful in its simplicity!

Won this book from LibraryThing. Just received the book today and I read the whole book. It really did help me rethink how I felt and things to do to have a more satisfying life. I could really relate to number 8 There is a point when one has enough shoes. I have shopped for over 10 years for shoes, clothing, jewelry handbags.. You name it I have it. Shopping to me is a way of feeling happy because I got an item that made me feel good, but only momentarily until I get a credit card bill. At this point just stress out about all the clothes and no space and the never ending bills that just don't stop. I still don't know what fulfills me but hopefully the tips I received from this book will make me do changes for the better. Totally loved that this book had so many colors and shapes. Totally made the book fun and exciting just like the writer. Thank you Susan for making such a Happy book. Really enjoyed your book.

A shorter book of Pollyanna essays that are rewritten platitudes almost everyone has heard before. I am not saying all of the tips are bad, they just are of more use to those just beginning the journey of adult life, than for those who have reached middle age. I do not feel like I was the intended audience for this book. It might make a good graduation gift for teen or young adult.

A better me, myself and I.

This book was a good collection of tips to make yourself a better person without leaving collateral damage for others. Most of the tips have been part of my life for many years but it is good to remind yourself why you've chosen to do things a certain way. It is a fairly easy read so you don't get bogged down in a bunch of psychology mumbo jumbo.

I received a copy of this book free through a Goodreads giveaway.

The book is kind of like a modern day "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff". A great little book to keep for daily inspiration or next to you Uncle John's Bathroom Reader.

Nice little reminders to help perk up your day!!!

A lovely little book to guide you thru life in a positive way.
Something in it for everyone, both young and old and in between.
I've learned some new things between the pages yet most of it reinforced what I already knew.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for answers and anyone who isn't.
