About the author

J. Archer Harris received his BS in Mathematics (with honors) from Denison University in 1973 and his MS and Ph.D. in Computer Science from SUNY at Stony Brook in 1975 and 1978. He currently is an associate professor of Computer Science at James Madison University where he has taught since 1985. His interest includes operating systems, UNIX, networks, and computer science education.

Dr. Harris has also taught at Southern Illinois University and his consulting activities have included working with Tandon Corporation, the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, BDS Corporation, TransAmerica Telemarketing, and Shenandoah Electronic Intelligence.
