It's the Crystal Palace Hotel's 5th annual murder mystery game extravaganza. A weeklong event of clues, costumes, red herrings, suspense, chills and murders spread across the hotel's expansive mountaintop acres.
Kyle and Grace have secured two tickets to the most coveted game the Crystal Palace has to offer. Two days at Murder Manor, a Victorian mansion secluded far away from the hotel and nestled within an elaborate hedge maze. Two days of safe murderous fun or so they thought but when a dead body is found floating in the pond near the hotel and rumors abound of a killer lurking on the grounds, Grace begins to wonder whether they are truly safe and how can you know what's real when every one is pretending to be someone they're not. With only each other to rely on, Grace and Kyle go on the hunt for a dangerous killer stalking the manor and its guests.
As a life-long mystery fan, Elisabeth enjoys writing light, comedic mysteries with a touch of romance. She would love to hear from you. Please feel free to send her a message and check out her blog for more information on upcoming releases.
Wickedly fun cosy book centred around a murder mystery weekend. A new author for me and one I'll add to my list of authors to further explore. My only complaint regarding this book is that it was more than a little confusing being introduced to the characters who then went on to play other characters in the mystery weekend. Apart from that an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.
I couldn't finish this book. Too many characters, playing characters, that I got totally confused as to who was real and who wasn't. I got a third of the way through and decided this wasn't for me.
Now this one was a lot of fun! I loved the mystery game and all of the characters. I couldn’t figure this mystery out as easily as some. This was enjoyable from start to finish!
By far this one has been my favorite in the series. If you love Kyle and Grace, then you'll love this one also. The story was a lot more fast paced than the others, which I enjoyed, and the storyline was so good. Just like her previous works, this author manages to keep you on your toes with all the twists and turns.
The characters were cardboard. I only finished it because that makes me feel less guilty about the negative reviews. Probably relies on earlier books for any semblance of characterization. They're just names doing things. And the connections were hard to make any sense of. Blah.
Confusing, convoluted plot. It took way too long to evolve into an unsatisfactory conclusion. Couldn't keep character names straight between the game and the people's real names.
Loved it! A murder weekend at a hotel should not have ended in a real murder. Can she sort out the wheat from the chaff in the clues she finds? Will it affect her romantic weekend? A great read with some lovely red herrings.
An exciting read that will keep you on the edge until the very end. I really enjoyed Murder Games ( a Grace Holliday Cozy Mystery #4 ) by: Elizabeth Crabtree
The characters were cute. The storyline wasn't too bad. Parts just made no sense.
But there was very poor writing.
For example: The deputy didn’t answer. “Yes,” he admitted hesitantly, “why do you ask?” If he didn't answer, how could he admit something hesitantly? It should have said that he took a while answering or he hesitated before he reluctantly admitted, "Yes."
I skipped from book #1 to #4. It wasn't confusing. The author filled in most of the blanks. I just didn't find this story as amusing as I did the first one. The killer was more difficult to guess. Which is a good thing. I just did not find it as enjoyable as the first. If I can get it from the library or free, I might give it a go for some of the other books in the series. As people say today... It was meh.
Well, that was a great ride...read...It was not so much a who-dun-it, but who was going to be dun next. To make it harder, almost everyone had two names. Even Agatha might have had a little trouble keeping up on this ever-changing story!
Please read this at one sitting if you can, and keep track of all the people. It would keep any confusion away.
This is a really fun series, and this entry in the series did not disappoint. The main characters of Kyle and Grace are great, and the premise of a mystery surrounding a series of murder games definitely pulled me in. The different mysteries are handled well, and the ending is a well-done surprise.
A well written story by Elisabeth Crabtree but, for me, there was just too many characters involved and with those characters playing other characters in a murder game it became confusing. A great idea got lost along the way.
.A well designed book guaranteed to keep you in suspense and turning the page. The two main characters are a most interesting, attractive couple of very competent sleuths. Ms. Crabtree delivers!
