Coming home for Christmas… to my four best friends. This time, they’re not letting me escape without at least one of them by my side.
Hicksburg is a place I tried to forget. I escaped the rural hometown Mom always hated but at a terrible cost. Miserable after an abusive relationship with the high school football star, I vowed to never go home to face the gossip that inevitably runs rampant in a town where everybody knows everybody else’s business.
Things are different now. I’m a veterinarian specializing in exotic small animals, and I’m starting my first job in Houston after New Year’s. I just need to kill a little time until my condo is ready. I’ll hang out with Nana, lay low, and escape after a few days. No big deal. Right?
I forgot how fast news travels in a small town. Especially when you don’t want anyone to know.
When my four best friends hear that I’m back…
They’re determined to set things right between us once and for all.
This is a standalone holiday romance. The heroine has an abusive past, which may be triggering to some readers.
i uh yeah uh okay the fact that the brothers were so much, actually at all, into SEEING THEIR SIBLING FUCKING THE SAME GIRL, AND AT THE SAME TIME uh maybe not???? a lil too incesty for my taste ALSO they all haven't seen her in 10!!!! years maybe even more I stopped paying attention because it was pissing me off too much, and then she is this magical perfect being?????? also maybe i am too stupid, but who is the child's father??? don't get me started on the gator boyz
Four men (Gator Boyz) harboring love for their best friend for years and years. One woman hurt by another and scared to get close, afraid to trust. In the magical moments of the Christmas season, love triumphs over the past, over fear and over what others' may think or say. Where hope meets fear and best friends reveal to their Golden Girl it's safe to say yes to love; yes to second chances; yes to forever.
This is a sweet little second chance romance where everyone is just instantly all in. The men have all been waiting for her, setting up their lives with the dream of return. So super sweet, lots of giant declarations and proof of their dedication. It’s not particularly Christmassy, (it’s more about a gumbo bake-off) but it is a perfectly light HEA with all the sweetness you can handle.
I need more! This was entirely too short of a story. I fell In love with all the Gator Boyz and I need to know what's next. That ending was too abrupt. What happens with Nana. So many questions unanswered!! Still I loved it. I cried so much. Can't wait for more!!
Jo, you remain one of my favorite authors, the story was fantastic and I love that you were inspired by LLS. I would’ve loved a little more conflict from the ex perspective but this book to me was just one of those simple sweet reads perfect for taking a break from the holiday chaos.
I really enjoyed my first book of 2024. This was a sweet romance with why choose characters. I liked that the background story of Kelsey was told in the way it was. I also liked the fact that there was no drama when I reached that 80-85% mark in the story. It was exactly the kind of Christmas romance I needed to read today.
Sweet second chance, why choose, love story! Loved Kelsey and all of her guys. Loved watching her heal her trauma. Loved how the guys all helped to build her back up. Truly wish we had gotten closure with the ex and some more time with each of the guys, but overall I loved this story. Would love a second book or an epilouge atleast lol
A cute friends-to-lovers romance with a lot of fun small town shenanigans that ends with an annual gumbo-making competition! Recommend if you're looking for a small-town romance with very little/no drama, no 2nd act break-up, no other women drama, a hilarious nana, and four drool-worthy men who have been waiting for their best friend - their golden girl - to find her way back home to them etc.
This is a good second chances read. All the characters are likable with enough differences to tell them apart. This book is steamy and fast paced. Love the grandma and her sausage man, haha. This book has low angst and very little drama. Good read to pass a couple hours, enjoyed.
5 stars means it's awesome and I can read this over and over. I love how Sharan captures a why choose relationship. It may have taken her over a year to fully write it but like any great gumbo it's always better after it simmers a while!
This was such a great story about second chances and coming home. I laughed and cried along with Kelsey as she made her journey with the gator boys. Absolutely loved the characters and plot. This book had some serious steam. Hope to hear more about these characters.
Kelsey had 4 best friends in the gator boys growing up. She met the wrong guy who takes her away and treats her terribly. Kelsey goes home for Christmas 13 years later and finds just what her heart needs.
Loved, loved, loved Kelsey and her Gator Boyz! I was instantly caught up in Kelsey's story and her friendship/relationship with Nathan, Jay, Maddox & Isak. It's a wonderful Christmas read but not so Christmasy that it's a perfect read any time of year.
I absolutely loved this book and am hoping it will be released in paperback form soon. I also have my fingers crossed that we will see more of the Gator Boyz and their Golden girl!
This story is so cute. It is light-hearted, meaningful, and with depth. The characters are well-developed and draw you in. I definitely enjoyed this story. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of a prologue. I wanted to read about their future. ;)
This is a why choose story with 4 mmcs. Kelsey’s past was one of sadness and fear. But her future was one of love and happiness. There were times in this book where I was giggling and kicking my feet. Absolutely loved it.
So sweet that 5 innocent kids found forever in each other only after life pulled them in different directions. Love pushed them all back together where they belonged.
