This was a decent, cute story up until about 80% when it went completely off the rails and crashed and burned. First of all, the H pulled one of two ultimate-douche moves, the h told him she was in love with him and pregnant and he immediately said "Goodbye" and walked out. To me that's completely unforgivable. Running from your feelings, I'm okay with. But the SECOND they tell you they're pregnant? It's not anything about a relationship anymore, it's about taking responsibility for the actions you were equally involved in. There is no excuse for this response. Saying you need some time to talk about it or some space to figure it out, that's okay, but just saying "peace out" and then getting drunk for weeks until her brother who's your best friend comes over and literally drags you out to "fix it". So that ridiculousness aside, the author seems to try to compensate by having the grand gesture being her giving him an ultimatum and him quitting all together and moving with her to LA....that's insane. He was an established NHL player and she was...a masseuse, who only did that because her dad talked her into it. So she forced him to give up all his hard work and dreams so that she could go open a spa. Not only is this completely wrong to allow, yet alone make one partner trade their career for you, its not even pragmatic or logical. The issue she had was feeling stifled by her father, but after the heart to heart she should have quit her job and started a spa there. Or if she really wanted to get out that badly, wait until Alex is traded to another city and then go there and open a spa. Any city that has a hockey team is going to be big enough for a spa. That combined with hockey being a throw away in this book that's supposed to be ABOUT HOCKEY just makes the whole thing disappointing

This book was so cringe I stopped 10% through. There are way better writers and hockey romances to suffer through a lackluster one.

Audiobook Review
Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5 Stars)
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (4/5 Spices)
Narration (Martina Ciccia and Shane Martinez): 🎧 🎧 🎧 3/5

A.J. Summers delivers a good collection of four interconnected hockey romances that are packed with steam, drama, and heart. Each book brings something different to the table, with compelling characters and sizzling chemistry. Here’s my breakdown of each book:

Book 1: The Pucking Bad Boy
⭐ Rating: 4.5/5
🌶️ Spice Level: 4/5
🎧 Narration (Martina Ciccia): 4/5
A single mom, a surprise connection, and a cocky hockey player make this a rollercoaster of emotions. Harper and Reggie’s chemistry is off the charts, and the emotional depth makes it a standout read. Martina Ciccia does a great job bringing Harper's emotions to life, but Reggie's voice could have been a little more distinct.

Book 2: The Pucking Fake Boyfriend
⭐ Rating: 3/5
🌶️ Spice Level: 3.5/5
🎧 Narration (Martina Ciccia): 3/5
This one had a fun fake-dating premise, but it fell a little flat in execution. The romance felt more lust-driven than relationship-focused, and the surprise pregnancy trope was a bit much. The narration was decent, but some of the male voices felt slightly off, making it harder to stay immersed.

Book 3: The Pucking Fake Marriage
⭐ Rating: 4/5
🌶️ Spice Level: 4/5
🎧 Narration (Shane Martinez): 3/5
A wild accidental Vegas marriage between a struggling restaurant owner and a hotshot hockey player? Yes, please! Charlie and Ken’s story is a mix of humor, tension, and spicy romance. Shane Martinez's narration was okay but lacked some emotional range, making certain scenes feel less impactful.

Book 4: The Pucking Grump
⭐ Rating: 4/5
🌶️ Spice Level: 4/5
🎧 Narration (Martina Ciccia): 3.5/5
Runaway bride meets grumpy hockey player in a forced-proximity, fake-dating situation. This book had some heavy family drama, but Blake and Faye’s journey was satisfying. The chemistry was there, and the emotional beats hit just right. Martina Ciccia delivered a good performance, though Blake's grumpy tone sometimes felt overdone.

H: Alexander Steinman AKA Alex
h: Britney White AKA Brit
Since Alex had such a troubled childhood where his mom abandoned him to his drunken father Brit's dad decided to take him and care for him. Brit's dad is a single parent having his wife die giving birth to Brit. Brit has an older brother who is also best friend of Alex who are both hockey players and she is the massage therapist. I feel like this story had so much potential but really felt flat. There's no growth in either of the characters. We have Brit who  is demure/quiet/shy, even though she is not like that she decided to take this persona thinking that would please her dad into loving her more or the same as her brother. Alex is a playboy who just sleeps around since he doesn't want to get attached to anyone that might leave him. Alex has such a bad boy figure that he needs to clean it up, so he decided to ask Brit to help fake a relationship for the sake of cleaning up his image. They end up in love and pregnant. The last 2 chapters she finally found her voice and her dad how she really felt and everything was tied in a nice bow and that was the end of it. I didn't like it. It was really predictable and really short.
Another thing I didn't like is that the chapters were never timed correctly. EX: after reading once chapter and starting another one, time has passed whether that is days/weeks/months it was never specify in the beginning of the chapter, so if the last chapter ended in them being in the club I think the next chapter I'll be reading will be abt that, but is not-is about her being in the office after a few days has passed.

Not an Enemies to Lovers story.

Possibly Spoilers.

The FMC and the MMC were basically siblings growing up, so they are more or less annoyed with each other's presence and rile one another up, but I wouldn't call them enemies; if they were, it was told to the reader rather than shown. There isn't much about them growing up, so there isn't a sense of taboo, but I did get the icks when the MMC kept circling back to "oh, she must be a virgin, or oh, she can't be a virgin." Those lines weren't needed for the MMC to determine if she was experienced in seduction or not.

The fake dating was literally one date. If they did anything else, it was told, not shown, which left me really bummed. I wanted more tension between the two, but they were hot for each other instantly. There needed to be more relationship building or more time for the characters to spend with one another to be considered a romance; it was all lust, desire, and escapism. And then there was the surprise pregnancy at the end. I'm sorry, but no, if I wasn't already at the end of the book, I would've DNF.

I gave this book a three-star rating for the reasons of the faking dating wasn't up to my expectations, along with the fact that they weren't enemies and the surprise pregnancy trope was a fix to their relationship. I'd be happier if they parted ways.

Britney White AKA Brit
~ Mother died, and she only had her father
~ had an older brother, Alex
~ She is a masseuse for the team

Alexander Steinman AKA Alex
~ had a tough childhood since his mom left him.
~ his father was drunk
~ was best friends with Alex, Brit's brother
~ hockey player

Story
~Alex was a player, and a girl was spreading lies that could ruin his career.
~He asked Brit to help him fake a relationship to improve his image.
~She agreed to fake date Alex because her dad wanted to marry her off to a rich guy. What kind of dad does that? Grrr!
~They’re into each other but trying to play it cool, even though it’s not easy. Things get messy, and Alex dips out on her right when she needs him. (What a stupid manchild!)
She had always dreamed of packing up and starting her own spa. Even though she was pregnant, she was determined to be a single mom and follow her dreams. (She's a strong woman.)
Thankfully, that didn't happen. ( I would have given the book three stars if the story ended here.)
The epilogue lets the reader know how the story ends. (The only reason I gave it four stars. This was the best part of the whole book.)

My thoughts:
I feel like nobody truly thought of Brit and how their choices and reactions would affect her. Her brother offering her up to a scheme, her dad wanting to marry her off, and I can't find words to say what Alex did. They all had their reasons (excuses, really), but that didn't make it ok.

The Pucking Fake Boyfriend is a short and steamy, OTT, frenemies-to-lovers, fake relationship turns real, girl gets her brother's best friend, hockey romance. Britney is a young masseuse who is the daughter of a hockey coach and sister to pro hockey player Blake. Alex is a hunky pro hockey player with a bad boy image and Blake's best friend. Alex came from a rough homelife and was essentially raised like a sibling with Blake and Britney, including picking on her as they grew up. But as Britney gets older, Alex has become attracted to her. When Alex gets in trouble with the press over a puck bunny incident, Blake proposes he fake dates Britney. At first, she turns idea down, but when she realizes her dad is trying to marry her off, she changes her mind. But of course, real feelings get involved, drama ensues, and people get hurt before we finally get our HEA. The chemistry was hot, and the banter was witty. I enjoyed this hockey romance.

This was a story that had a lot of this, that and other thrown into the mix that will keep you on the edge and wanting more.

Alex is known to have a rep, and his ex like to bring it to the light, especially when their time is done. Alex is in the mist of his latest and she won't stop. Alex and Britney's brother come up with a idea.

Britney is a therapist for the team that her dad coaches for and her brother play on. Always wanting to make sure her dad is happy, she gives into what he wants, that is until she overhears her dad making "plans" for her future.

Determined to live her life, Britney accepts Alex's deal to be his fake girlfriend, with the idea of twisting it out to help herself.

This was a good read with the unique story line and twist as you join Alex and Britney find their own paths to their HEA, while keeipng others at bay.

I got to say Thais book was OK and why is that is because this box started out really really slow and it was a slow read to me throughout the whole book. I got to admit it was hard for me to stay interesting to where I wanted to pick up my Kindle and read it so with that said, I just wish it had more drama, per se and spice. It didn’t have really either it was just a typical story and yeah it did have some spice but not enough to make it a page turner and I don’t think I would recommend this since it wasn’t my favorite but hey I won’t just scratch it because of that especially if you reading this review. I always live by you will never know until you try. So I would definitely give this book a try just like I did because you will never know if you actually will like it.

I thought it was very interesting how manipulative a person Brit really was. She wore her meekness like prey animals wear their protective coloring. I would have respected her more if she had been upfront with Alex about her dad’s machinations, but every story needs drama. I couldn’t hate her for it, though, and I admired her for her tenacity. I liked Alex and the fact that he was a lot more complex than he let on.
What I thought about the narrator- the narrator was fine, but not great. I think this story calls for dual narration.

Alex and Britney's love story

This is not really a hockey story. Alex plays for the Philadelphia Titans, but his position is never disclosed, nor are games discussed. Britney is a masusse for the team and the sister of Alex's best friend, Blake, another hockey player.
Alex's ex girlfriend is trashing him in the media so he convinces Britney to fake date him. She does it for her own reasons.
Britney is a sad character. She has spent her life pretending to be a shy wallflower. Alex is also sad, with his mother deserving him and his alcoholic father abusing him. Their story is interesting
The bonus epilogue can only be described as weird. The author couldn't be consistent on the gender of the baby? The bonus added nothing to the story.

I love Britney & Alex. Alex is a pro hockey player while Britney is one of the teams massage therapists. Alex is also best friends with her brother Blake and practically grew up at their house. Britney's dad is something else trying to set her up with the team owners son who she doesn't even care about or like, doesn't care about her dreams just that he wants her to the "perfect daughter". Alex and Britney start dating to clean up his image. Surprise baby comes along that Alex doesn't handle well until Blake steps in. Alex doesn't make Britney give up on her dreams instead changes his.

Britney will do whatever she must to avoid her father’s matchmaking attempts, even enter into a fake relationship with Alex, her brother’s best friend, and hockey star, who needs to redeem his image after a scandal, this arrangement is mutually beneficial. What happens when the fine line between hate love becomes blurred?
This is a well written easy to read, enemies / lovers’ romance, with fake relationships, witty banter, humor, intrigue, drama, family, friendships, redemption, and love, which leads to an entertaining, twisted, and steamy addictive page turner.

Good book

What enticed me to read THE PUCKING FAKE BOYFRIEND was how much I liked the second book in the series, PUCKING Bad Boy. They are a like because of the hockey and the alpha-hole. Alex, however, is one that pollinates many flowers, and one of those flowers became quite thorny making his life and career miserable.

Brit is a very interesting female character that has hid her true personality from everyone until she takes advantage of an opportunity for a fake relationship with Alex to thwart a marriage set up by her father.

It’s an entertaining story with feisty conflict, spicy encounters, and reluctant romance. I’d read more in this series.

Alex and Brittany had me all caught up in this story. When her father decides he is going to find a billionaire for her to marry she accepts a proposition that will resolve both of their problems. Alex needs to clean up his act after another scandal and a fake relationship with Brittany will do just that but when things start getting a little too real and two pin lines make their presence will their fake relationship become the real deal.

A Love Story Worth Reading!

Great story line, and I love how the characters-Alex and Britney come together. It has drama, emotion, heat! It's got it all. It was well written and has a story line that kept me intrigued. These two are so hot for each other. I love their chemistry.

AJ Summers has crafted a wonderful, heartfelt, steamy/ sexy, dramatic and emotional story.

This book is amazing and I love how AJ has created a very touching ending. This book is by far one of AJ’s best book written to date. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. I highly recommend to read. She deserves higher than a 5-star rating.

Alex is best friends with Blake his team mate who is Britney's brother. They go on a fake date and sparks fly. Britney ends up pregnant. Does Alex step up when he finds out Britney is pregnant? Does her father stop trying to force her into a marriage she doesn't want? How does Blake react. Really good book.

Alex is facing a media frenzy when a former romantic partner begins posting false information about him. His close friend Blake suggests that Alex should pretend to be in a relationship with someone else to stop the rumors, and Britney is the perfect candidate. When Britney's brother suggests that she fake a relationship with Alex, she agrees after she hears a conversation between their dad and the Philadelphia Flyers' team owner. This story has plenty of drama, romance, and steam, ending in a HEA. Very highly recommended.

This story was not one I enjoyed. DO NOT get me wrong it was well written. In my opinion it needs a bit of humor. Like I said my opinion.
The ONE thing I did not like (really didn't like), was/when the main female it known or the author made it known that for 20years she hid her "true self". How she didn't have friends (work) or no-one knew who she truly was.
I mean 20years???

Plus I think the way I tore this story up (in my head) showed I was not in the frame of mind to enjoy the story.

Great book absolutely loved it. It was a steamy page turner between Alex and Britney and the physical attraction sizzling of hotness and the chemistry was spicy. It was addicted and I couldn't even imagine of put it down. Alex was her brother's best friend and he was off limits to her but she could't fight the temptation of lust and pleasure with him at all. I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review. Trina Jones

Behind the Mask

Alex has been best friends with Britney’s brother since childhood and while he was always at their home their relationship was somewhat volatile. The progression of this story is emotionally conflicting for these two as they navigate through a fake relationship, her father’s plans and the building attraction towards each other. This was a fun read, just wished the epilogue had a bit more.

Immature

Author should have had someone with a reading level higher than 9th grade edit this and then made a better story. Story is choppy and has no flow. All the characters sound the same, their thought processes and the way they move about the story. The happy ending was not tied up with any kind of desire to produce a decent story what so ever. Not sure if the author actually thought this was good or thought they could get away with it because its a romance.

Definitely not a fake dating, enemies to lovers like it was advertised. The fake dating was maybe a date or two and they had known each other since they were kids. The ‘enemies’ tension could’ve been built more- however, it is a short book. Another thing I did not enjoy and nearly made me out the book down was when third act break up- I am glad I pushed through though. For how short the book is it had a decent plot but a lot did happen and was brushed over.

I love a good hockey romance.

Alex and Britney have known each other forever and they’ve always bickered and seemed to hate each other. But then Alex is involved in a scandal with an ex and Brit has overheard her dad trying to marry her off to someone she would never marry. So fake dating Alex seems to be the thing to help them both. Enemies to lovers and fake dating are 2 of my fave tropes. Add in a hockey player, and I’m in!

This book had everything I love; fake dating, hockey, brothers best friend, and lots of surprises.  Alex is the playboy that needs his image revamped and Britany is the good girl that no one really knows.  Both use eachother and find themselves breaking the one rule they made. I couldn't put this book down.  Such a great read.  Can't wait to read more from A J Summers

Alex is a pro hockey player in the midst of a scandal because of a woman he hooked up with. His best friend and teammate decide that his sister would be perfect to help Alex revamp his image. Brittany wasn't on board with the idea until she overheard her dad making plans to match her with the team owner's son. Its not long before things heat up between Alex and Brittany. Brittany is tired of how her father treats her and is reaching a breaking point. Will their fake relationship become more than they expected?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

I was a little concerned at the start of the book that Brit was not a nice person but as the story unfolds you start hoping for her happy ever after. Alex is a sweet loving guy under the bad boy he shows the world. Now we need a book about her brother Blake.
