Kat has never been on more than seven dates with a man before catching the dreaded ick. That’s all it takes to realize he’s not the one for her. It’s usually something small—the way he puts ice in his cup, drinks his coffee, or his preferred name in the bedroom, but it’s enough to make her realize she could never spend an eternity with him.

Theodore is ready to take over the company his father left for him. He’s spent his entire life working towards the moment when he becomes president, every waking moment dedicated to that goal. Unfortunately, his family man boss isn’t too keen on his strictly single ways and worries if he gets this job, he’ll never start a family. That’s when he lies and tells his boss he has a fiance.

Now, he not only has to prove he deserves the job, despite his rival doing everything he can to sabotage him, but he has to find himself a fiance—and fast.

It's good that his sunshine assistant has an open schedule and can promise a no-strings deal. Seven dates to impress his boss and take down his rival with zero risk that she’ll fall for him.

But what if this is the one time the ick factor fails her?

Morgan is a born and raised Jersey girl, living there with her two boys, toddler daughter, and mechanic husband. She’s addicted to iced espresso, barbecue chips, and Starburst jellybeans. She usually has headphones on, listening to some spicy audiobook or Taylor Swift. There is rarely an in between.

Writing has been her calling for as long as she can remember. There’s a framed ‘page one’ of a book she wrote at seven hanging in her childhood home to prove the point. Her entire life she’s crafted stories in her mind, begging to be released but it wasn’t until recently she finally gave them the reigns.

I’m so grateful you’ve agreed to take this journey with me.

Ick Factor is a fake engagement, grumpy x sunshine, revenge plot romcom full of banter and so much fun heat! The story follows Kat, a fiercely loyal assistant, and Theo, her stoic boss. Theo is ready to take over his family's company, however, when his boss expresses concern over his lack of a personal life, Theo panics and lies about being engaged. When Kat learns of this, she offers to be his fake fiancee as she would rather quit than work under Warren, the other candidate up for promotion. However, when both Kat and Theo realize Warren is willing to play dirty to get the job, both team up to take him down using any means whatsoever.

The characters and story are so refreshing in Ick Factor, I loved how the revenge plot played out and resulted in so much chaos yet was still able to push Theo and Kat together. The two were so loyal to each other and I loved how gone Theo was for Kat and determined to make her see how well they could work together. Not to mention with Kat's total pushback on their relationship, there was tension and pining; two of my favorites. If you enjoy entertaining romcoms with unhinged FMCs and obsessed MCs, definitely give this book a read. While I am so sad to say goodbye to this series, Morgan Elizabeth couldn't have ended the series better!

From the beginning, I was having SO much fun with this book! The heroine works for the hero and in order to have a chance at taking over the company, the hero has to show he has a life outside of work, so the heroine offers to be fake engaged. Little does she know, she's the only one he can actually stand to be around and they two have such fun energy and banter together. They were ADORABLE but also have insane chemistry. They're working together to take down the hero's opponent and I loved that added element to the plot. The hero was also so sweet to the heroine and they both quickly realized that they actually really liked each other as more than coworkers and started falling so hard. I couldn't put this down and recommend picking it up if you love a billionaire, fake dating, boss/employee romance!

You know when you start a book and you can already tell it isn’t your cup of tea and have no reason why?

Later…
I was reading through reviews and I saw this one where it was talking about how the mmc and fmc sleep together when she is drunk and he is sober. No, thank you🤚. And how next time he wanted her fully conscious. That should be a given tf😭.

I'm give no rating since I dnf the book at 30%

I hated the MFC so much, and her Ick factor when, in fact, she was the Ick. With the way she talked to the Hero. I was not feeling it.

And the hero, he was the only good thing. Too bad I didn't read more he couldn't save this book for me.

₊ ⊹”if i get to love you, i’ll do what i have to do to keep you, katrina.”₊ ⊹

*:・゚my thoughts┊ i was enjoying this until i wasn’t. funnily enough, i feel like this book gave me the ick lmao

i don’t understand how everyone who rated this five stars is ghosting over the fact that the first time they hooked up, kat was tipsy/drunk and theo was sober. he was even aware of that too, and commented about how the second time they fuck, he’s gonna make sure she’s fully conscious and aware of everything. literally almost said that word for word. like hello?!

also, honestly, the whole ick thing was just not something i enjoyed. personally, i hate the idea of having/finding icks in a partner. i think it’s childish and you probably aren’t ready to date or be in a real, genuine relationship if you’re constantly looking for and keeping track of people’s “icks.” so i really didn’t care for kat’s character much due to that, nor did i care about the whole plotline of her expecting to find something about theo that would turn her off. or her friends encouraging her to make herself find an ick. it was just so shallow to me.

also also, theo calls kat ‘kitten’ and mentions way too many times about how she ‘purrs’ and it was a no from me. every time he said that i immediately started thinking of that scene from shrek with prince charming. iykyk.

i really was enjoying this book until a little over the halfway mark, but it all went downhill after they got together for the first time. things were turning awkward and it was hard to read at times. i did think the epilogue was sweet, which is why i’m giving it two stars and not one. sadly, this book just wasn’t it for me. not sure if i’ll be picking up anymore books by this author, but we’ll see!

This one was a bit difficult to rate for me. While I did like the plot, I struggled to get through the characters.

============================

Background:

Theo and Kat have been working together for one year; she's his assistant, and he's the boss. And Jeff, the president of the company they're working for, is about to retire and has been looking for a successor. If we're talking about someone's rights, Theo is supposed to be the next president in line. After all, the company was built by Jeff and Theo's late father.

But Theo's workaholic lifestyle isn't doing him any favors. Sure, he devoted his life to the company and gave everything to uphold its legacy, but he has no life outside of work. And Jeff doesn't want to give him the role if he's going to continue to have no work-life balance.

So Theo lied and said he's in a relationship; in fact, he's engaged. Therein enters Kat, where she pretends to be his fiancee and to help him get the position. And besides, Theo's competitor is his ex-friend, who is a total grade-A asshole. Whom doesn't give a crap about the company but more on the money he'll get if he ever takes the role.

============================

Like I said, I like the plot; it isn't something new, but I still look forward to how that will pan out.

But Kat and Theo made it unbearable, at least for me to enjoy it.

These two are supposed to be grown people in their 30s and professionals. Yet, most of their antics didn't even show any professionalism; a lot of them were childish, mostly from Kat's side. Sure, maybe because they're comfortable with each other, but for some reason I didn't enjoy it.

Also, Theo was way too uptight, and if I'm being honest, he's very bland. I'm not sure whether he's supposed to be the reason between the two of them. But the constant hot and cold treatment and very awkward interactions with Kat made me scratch my head and ask if I should root for him or not.

Because most of their interactions were awkward at best, and readers were supposed to believe they matched perfectly well, seeing as they've been working together for almost a year. But I didn't see any spontaneity or ease in their relationship. It felt stunted and forced, and I had a hard time figuring out if they even had any chemistry or spark.

And Kat, because of the "ick factor," or like her ESP to know if she's going to match with someone, has been always looking for the other shoe to drop. I could get on with some denseness in the beginning, but lying to herself to protect her heart made me dislike her a bit. Especially when Theo has been telling and showing how serious he's about her.

I get it; they started as fake, but along the way, they both know the relationship slowly turned into something real. But the in-denial attitude of Kat is also making me shake my head.

Anyhow, they finally confessed how they really felt, became an official couple, successfully exposed Theo's competitor, and made him get the role.

Overall, I didn't like it; I think this is my least favorite in this series. It's a bit sad because this is the last couple and book that tie everything in this series together. There was an epilogue that contained scenes from each couple, but it was unsatisfying because these were like bonus moments and not a glimpse of their lives together years later.

Anyway, while this didn't work for me, other readers might feel differently. 🤷‍♀️

I think this one was my favorite in this series!

The dynamic between Kat and Theo was perfect for friends to lovers and “marriage” of convenience. Kat is a fun, witty, intelligent, biting FMC and I really enjoyed her POV. The dynamic between her and Theo was lusty, romantic, sexy, sweet, thoughtful, warm… I just was into them immediately. I also felt like this was a really sweet ending to the series. The female friendship in the book was welcoming and funny, some of it really reminded me of my own girlfriends. I loved seeing them coming together and getting the extended epilogue to have a moment to know how they all ended up! The group of women and their relationship was even better than the book boyfriends!

Super fun- read it in a day!

4.5 ⭐️’s!!!!

Morgan does it AGAIN! UGH i swear every time i think i’ve found my favourite book of hers she goes and writes another perfect one!! and thank you to Morgan and her team for sending me an e-arc of this book!!

Katrina is officially one of my favourite romance fmc’s EVER! She is chaos, sass and brilliance personified! I absolutely adored the way she lives and exists so fully in the moment and takes up space and speaks her mind and and and i just want to be her okay??! The way Theo describes her laugh?! it’s genuinely one of the most beautiful declarations of love, i couldn’t get enough. “I’m as loyal as they come, and I’m fucking insane.” also this part is ME and a great reminder to embrace your crazy sometimes.

Theodore MF CARTER!! Theo! Baby!! i love this man so much. He is a nerdy, reserved boss-man until Katrina teaches him how to relax AND BOY DOES HE EVER. “What if I need more?” she asks, and I fight back a smile of my own, instead leaning forward to grab my wallet from my back pocket. I open it up and grab my personal credit card, putting it in her hand and curling her small fingers around the black plastic. “I got you stuck in this situation; you get whatever you need. Make it hurt, kitten.” I’m just gonna leave this quote here….. when i tell you i GASPED at the first spicy scene bc of the 180 this man does?! i did not see it coming! As always the spice was incredible, morgan never disappoints. Also i feel like I say this in every review I write about morgan’s books but i swear the men she writes do love SO GOOD! the way theo loves kat simply takes my breath away, from taking care of her in so many small ways to letting her chaos reign, i’ll never get enough.

Also must note this part “and then we’re dancing in the rain together in the parking lot of the tulip farm where his parents fell in love.” I DIED. I PASSED AWAY. i know i’m a hopeless romantic okay?? there’s a reason i read so many romance books but this is why, it’s the perfect romcom line.

All in all this was everything i want in a romance book. Ladies, trust your ick’s, you get them for a reason and when in doubt, channel your inner Revenger. i love you morgan and all of your little swiftie easter eggs 🫶🏼

We are Morgan Elizabeth’s #1 fan(s). Is there any trope out there that we love more than a relationship of convenience? Yep, and it’s grumpy/sunshine. Put those together and you’ve got Ick Factor. We KNEW going into this that we were going to love Kat’s book. She is us, we are her. We have loooong lists of things that give us the ick so we absolutely relate to her.
Maaaan what a grumpy beautiful boss Kat has 😏 the moment we found out that Theo hated nicknames but loved that Kat gave him one, it was over for us. We were in insta love. We loved how Kat brought out the fun side of Theo, and his secret snack stash for her? GOD. Can we please get a man written by Morgan Elizabeth?
Also the lack of a third act breakup is always our favorite thing and we cherish Morgan for delivering that once again!

ARC Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Theodore is ready to take over the company his father left for him, but it’ll come down to the board voting between him and his work rival, Warren. And when his family man boss expresses concern over Theodore’s lack of work and personal life balance, he does what anyone in that position would do…. He claims to have had a secret relationship for the last year, and announces that they’ve recently gotten engaged. Thankfully his sunshine assistant, Katrina, comes to his rescue and steps in as his fake fiancée. She refuses to work for Warren. And lucky for Theo, that when Warren starts to try to sabotage him, Katrina and her friends are unhinged, and there is absolutely nothing they do better than revenge.
They have rules, a timeline, an end date, but when they’re snowed into the office overnight, the lines blur, and things don’t feel so fake anymore!

This is the final book in the Seasons of Revenge series, and I’m so sad for it to end. The good news is the characters are never gone, because Morgan writes all her books in the same universe, so we always see cameos! Even though this is the final book in the series, it is a standalone.

If you love your FMCs slightly unhinged, in the absolute best ways, this is the read for you! If I ever wanted to be a part of a girl group, that would always have my back and show up to help doll out petty unhinged revenge plans, this is it! Katrina is so strong, sassy, and confident! She doesn’t let anyone walk all over her, and she stands up and protects Theo.

Theo, my anxious, grumpy, billionaire, with such a soft spot for Katrina. Morgan always does a fabulous job with writing a man obsessed that does a million little things to prove he is in love, even before their relationship shifts to more! I loved that Katrina was always the one person who took time to see Theo.

This is a perfect read when you want to laugh, be swept off your feet, and get revenge on an awful coworker. So grab some snacks, and curl up to read this new release!

This was one of the better books in the series! I can’t believe I put it off this long.

I loved how the vibes were the most similar to book one because it’s a workplace / office romance and the douche they were trying to take down was similar to the guy in book one.

It’s also a spicy, fake dating, boss & secretary romance, so it’s a vibe 🤤 And I’m very much into Theo ❤️

I’m praying that we get a book for Savannah’s character someday though. It seems strange there isn’t one about her already.

OH EM GEE!

I received the ARC of this book and let me tell you I could not wait! If you like me, have loved the Revenge series you’re going to love this one! Morgan’s writing is so playful, funny, and heartfelt and this book is no exception! You get to see all of the female characters from the series make a return and being invited back into their worlds is so fun! Not to mention there is a hilarious s*x toy scent that had me giggling. I do wish we got a little bit more into Theo’s backstory and we got to see Damien in here 👀 but that’s just personal preference!

Theo is set to take the president role at his family’s music company upon the current presidents retirement, however there becomes a snag when his college roommate/enemy (frenemy if you will) is also up for the role. The one thing that could hold him back? His lack of social life/girlfriend. Kat is Theo’s assistant and knows him better than anyone and is the perfect candidate to help. Kat always gets “the ick” with guys so she knows she won’t get attached. Can these two make the board of directors believe they’re in love in time before the vote and before Kat’s ick kicks in?

Kat finally found the job perfect for her, one that does not bore her after one week and she love working and occasionally teasing her uptigth and brooding boss, Theo.
But when the CEO of the company is near retirement and the board must choose his successor, the blissful bubble around Kat and Theo threaten to burst so the two team up for Theo to get his rightful place in the company and his long deserved revenge on his college rival and Kat to avoid having another start over.

//

was it perfect? NO
did I love it? YES

ngl I was skeptic at the very beginning feeling nothing between both the protagonists but I was glad I stick to it bc they have their reasons!!

God, I had the time of my life reading this one, I love Kat, she's batshit crazy, amazing, and totally unhinged giving away at the same time doberman and sweet golden retriever vibes. Just try to fuck with her or Theo and she'll unleash all the seven devils to you and your family lmao

Theo, my sweet cutiepie 🫠 boy he did surprise me good, I was totally not expecting THAT in the office.

Sorry but the dynamic is basically this one right here 😂

I don't think there isn't a book Morgan Elizabeth has written that I didn't immediately love!! Ick Factor by @authormorganelizabeth brings the Season of Revenge series to a close with Ick Factor. She saved the best for last!! Katrina was always my favourite from the friend group and honestly felt the most similar to. Kat has always had this radar of knowing the faults of others that one can't just get past or over. Her longest relationship lasted no more than 7 dates. A crazy superpower but a lonely one. Theo Carter, her boss and VP of Catalyst Records, is hoping to get President of the company, but all that stands in front of him is a vote. And of course, the vote is not so simple - he is up against his college two-faced rival, Warren. To appeal to the board and Jeff, his pseudo father and idol, he must prove he is a family man. In a moment of weakness, he says that he is engaged and chooses his assistant, Kat, as his fiancée. It seems like a foolproof plan as she has the 7 date rule and has an ick factor. They just need to sell it and make it believable. However, the line between fake and real seems to be more and more unclear while the competition for president heats up. As I mentioned, Kat is so relatable. I know what it's like to have your friends find their person and be the watcher. I am also particular about any potential main my life. I loved how Theo was closed off but also had such a connection to his sister, his pseudo parents, and most importantly, to Kat. Their spice was next level and so hot 🔥 🥵! But they also had a firm relationship of trust, support, and respect!! Needless to say, I am sad this series ended. I will miss these women and their men. Also, Morgan, please write a book for Savannah!! ❤️

Ick Factor wraps up the Seasons of Revenge series with Kat, our hopeless romantic, becoming fake engaged to her hot, grumpy boss, Theo, who is SO DOWN BAD FOR HER!!!!!!

All of Morgan’s books feel like such a warm hug and I love them. The girl squad, the mix of silly and serious, and the extended epilogue (🥲 I shed some tears per usual) make this the perfect ending for the Season’s of Revenge series. If you haven’t checked out Morgan’s backlist I highly recommend!!!

* E-ARC review - Ick Factor *

He's her grumpy but such a softy boss and she's the take no shit spicy assistant. When they have to pretend to be engaged, what can go wrong! She's never been on seven dates. He… doesn’t date, too busy working and building an empire. The empire that should be his but is now up for a vote when his mentor retires. Kat is not going down without a fight for a job she loves and her friends at the company.

Morgan does a phenomenal job writing characters that are so authentic and relatable. We love to see neuro-spicy characters because the world is filled with us!

This slow burn will keep you flipping through pages and kicking your feet when you get spice. It gives me The Proposal meets angst. You are going to love Theo and Kat! A perfect conclusion to the Seasons of Revenge Series.

Favorite Line: "She might be the mistress of revenge, but I'm an expert at mergers and acquisitions."

Fantasy Casting: Joey Graziadei as Theo and Camila Mendes as Kat

Let the games begin…

I got so lucky to receive an ARC copy of Ick Factor, and as always Morgan knows how to deliver. She could genuinely write my shopping list and I’d be excited to read it.
This book is the perfect end to this series, with no third act breakup (always a plus), an FMC that brings chaos everywhere she goes and a MMC who is there for it and loves every part of her.
I love a close group of female friends, and Kat, Abbie, Cami and Liv are the type of friends everyone deserves in their lives: chaotic, unhinged, but so full of life and would do anything for those they care about.
If there’s one thing I learned from this book is always listen to yourself and your instinct (or ick factor), you can do no wrong.
As always, loved the Taylor Swift references (“don’t get mad, get even”).

ARC Review:

I think this was the perfect ending to the Seasons of Revenge series. It was sweet, and Theo was probably my favorite man out of this series because he was sweet and he was kind. My only wish is that I wish there was more revenge to be had on Warren, but I can understand going about it in a mature way. Overall, I think this may have been my favorite book from this series.

Thank you to Morgan Elizabeth for providing me with an ARC to read.

I have been arc reading for Morgan Elizabeth since the release of Ivory Tower and she is one of my all time favorite authors. Due to how long I have been arc reading for her I have gotten to arc read almost every book in the season for revenge series and it’s one of my favorite contemporary romance series. I always get sad when a series comes to an end but this was an amazing final book and the epilogue was perfect. While these are all standalone romances they are interconnected and I would highly recommend reading them in order to get the best impact.

Kat has never made it past the 7th date with anyone she’s ever dated as she always gets the ick from something and she learned to trust that sense a long time ago. Theo has always expected to take over his father’s company but when the vote is announced to replace the current president who is retiring, Theo’s father’s best friend, he learns that he’s not running unopposed but instead against his ex college friend who is a horrible person. Jeff, his father’s best friend, tells Theo he can’t support him when he doesn’t have a life outside of the company. Thinking on his feet Theo tells him he has a secret Fiancé that doesn’t actually exist. Kat learns about this and decides that she’s the best person for the job since there is no chance she won’t get the ick from him. But what happens when her ick may not show up?

ADHD characters written by authors with ADHD hits differently. I am someone with ADHD and you can always tell when it is an own voice book because there will be tiny moments that someone without adhd wouldn’t think about. There were so many tiny moments that showed how ADHD can affect someone from rejection sensitive dysphoria when you think your best friends are mad or abandoning you to snacking all the time because it is easier to do than big means. Kat is one of my favorite characters with ADHD as I related so much to her.

Kat and Theo may be one of my favorite couples in this series as Theo is so sweet at times and dirty as hell at others. I found their relationship progression amazing and I was laughing so much during this book at just cute and ridiculous moments. The spicy in this book probably is my favorite by Morgan Elizabeth so far, there were a few quotes I highlighted that when I showed my friends after release they all instantly added it to their TBR. There were so many small moments that really helped their relationship progress from fake dating to real and I am not going to specifically mention them because I want you to experience them for yourself but I was just constantly smiling.

This was a perfect finale book and I can’t recommend this series enough. This is a series with 4 main books and One novella and all of the main books have spectacular revenge plotlines and women just being amazing.

I also would like to make a small note that Morgan Elizabeth took the time to fix some representation issues when she was notified of them in this book and Tis the Season for Revenge. I am not sure if the updates for Tis The Season for Revenge are live yet but I wanted to mention that just in case. I can’t speak for the representation but I do have a lot of respect for authors that listen to feedback and make changes to improve representation as a lot of authors would ignore it.

Kat has what she calls the ick factor, an insane intuiton about people that typically never fails. That is why she has never been on more than seven dates with a man. She always ends up getting the dreaded ick. Theodore is ready to take the reins of his late father's record company, the dream he's spent his entire life working towards. Unfortunately, his family man boss doesn't love Theo's personal life, or lack theorof. That’s when he lies and tells his boss he has a fiance. The fiance you ask? He's firecracker, sunshine assistant, Kat.

Together they work to not only convince Theo's boss he's the man for the president job, but they carefully plan his rival's downfall. But what happens when seven (not so) fake dates past and Kat is not feeling anything close to the ick. What happens if she actually thinks she might be falling in love instead?

Theo has shot straight up my list of favorite Morgan Elizabeth men! He's grumpy but protective and truly a softie at heart. Kat is an absolute firecraker with the intution of GOLD. I loved that about her because truthfully, I also can read people like no other so it felt good to see that in a female character.

This book also had everything I loved in a fake dating relationship book; the "how did you fall in love" that's not so fake and always so endearing, him giving her HIS MOTHER'S RING, the dates they go on for "optics" where they actually realize they're so dang compatable, the moment where they decide to say "f*ck it" and then you know.... literally f*ck.

Ultimately, I thought the pacing was wonderful, the story moved quick and yet I felt like I had enough time to get to know and fall in love with Kat and Theo. Highly reccomend!

Please read Ick Factor if you love:
-Main characters protective over each other
-the not so fake "how did you fall in love" story
-Snowed in shenanigans
-A man on his knees
-A purr-fect nickname (kitten!!!! MEOW MR. CARTER)
