I didn’t really like it. I had never heard of AJ Estelliam and did not do my research before jumping into this book. The story itself was fine although there could have been more spice and the side-character building was a bit lacking, but at the end of the day the writing was hard to get past. There were a lot of little grammatical and spelling errors that could have easily been caught. The errors didn’t necessarily ruin the book, but it made it hard to get lost in the story. Also, I looked up Estelliam after finishing the book and found out the author has an Alex Hope series that, based off the synopsis I found on Good Reads, is essentially the same story as Kit Adams’. My initial reaction is that it feels both lazy and pointless, but I reserve my judgment, assuming the two characters' story lines intersect at some point or the phenomenon of becoming psychic after surviving a horrific car accident is explored more in both series.
My overall rating for the book is a 1.5. The premise is intriguing if not a bit played out and the backstory of the characters is something I typically would be interested in exploring, but the lack of editing and spice put me off this series and writer.
