I am a big Webtoon comic lover, so anytime I see that one of them is getting a physical book I scream with absolute joy and know I need to get my hands on a copy!
Suitor Armor is new to me, but I was instantly interested in the fantasy/romance themes and the cover. I am a big romantasy reader in general, so seeing that this book would feature an enchanted suit of armor, fairies, a war, castles, and royalty, I immediately needed this story in my life. This volume includes episodes 1 through 17, so my review will be based on just those.
That cover screams opposites attract romance, perhaps with a side of dark romance, which I am all about! I am a romance reader first and foremost, so when you show me size difference, a helmet with horns, and juxtaposing FMC and MMC, my heart weeps to read it!! The cover is definitely a sign of things to come as the whole volume has incredibly beautiful artwork, a FMC who is empathetic and much more than she seems, a big baddie MMC who has a soft spot for the FMC, and so many secrets (romantic and other)!
I loved watching Modeus and Lucia spend time together, especially with him being her guard because it gives a protector vibe which is perfect for the aesthetic. Even better was when we watched Modeus learn how to do new things, showing that he may be more than a hunk of metal after all.
I love the backdrop of the war, especially knowing that our FMC, the royal Lady-in-waiting, is one of the fairies they are waging war against. I can’t wait to learn more about the intruder as I feel this will help our FMC to learn more about the fairies and where she comes from. I also can’t wait to see more of Sir Baynard and his squire Peres (I absolutely adore both of them!), Court Mage Norrix who invented Modeus (who I’m not sure I trust too much but I’m not sure why), and Lady Kirsi (who I feel will surprise us at least once).
I very much enjoyed this book and will definitely be checking out more episodes on Webtoons!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press, Ten Speed Graphic, and Purpah for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
