High Society Wives #1

High Heels & Naked Lies

Rate this book
Diamonds, millions of dollars, designers and… deceit? After a dysfunctional childhood with a father who abandoned her, a traumatic rape while in college and a marriage to a man that uses her as a whipping post, Kay has decided enough was enough. She lives inside a lie projecting the image of the perfect, upper class, posh lifestyle even as she’s resigned herself to be alone and lonely behind the fraudulent image. At least she had, until Ryder Sinclaire came into the picture.
Gorgeous, dangerous and pulled to him like a drug she fights herself and the way her body reacts to his; his ice blue eyes captivate her and his touch melts her cold heart, allowing her to feel things she had ruled out a long time ago. She finds the courage to find herself, her happiness but is seemingly thwarted at every turn. Finding out her whole life was a long list of lies added to her irrational and infuriating attraction to a relative stranger, cause Kay to re-evaluate everything she thought she had ever known. Will she be tempted beyond reason and seek that one thing she had never thought to obtain? Or will she allow the coldness to finally seize her heart and deny the joys that come with finding love, friends and happiness?

I thought this was a great read, it is full of hurt, pain, lost, overcoming, regret, trust, lies, betrayal, finding one’s self only to come back to live it all over again, only to try and put the pieces back together again and hopefully find love. The author had me hook from the start and kept me that way throughout the book.

The book starts out with Kay's brutal rape, which left her scarred both mentally and physically. It than goes on to show her low self esteem, which leads to an abusive with her husband Preston. There are not words to tell you what I think of him and his doings. We then move on to Kay meeting one of her husband new clients with sparks flying and attractions high. Things are found out about her husband, things are put into the works to bring him down. Kay and Ryder fight the attraction and both fail. One thing leads to another and to another and let’s just say we have some pretty steamy scenes. Will Kay stay with her abusive husband or will she take a chance on Ryder? If she walks away from Preston will he let her go and what will he put her through? What is Preston hiding and will the truth come out? So many question that the author answers nicely in depth.

I loved the characters, the author brought you pain that you could feel all the way to your toes. She wrote outstanding love scenes that makes you want to beg for more. The only issue I had with this story was close to the end. I do not see the scenes playing out that way. I cannot tell you what that is without giving part of the story away. I found the whole story to be very believable until then. The author does give you a wonderful ending and an outstanding read.

I found the authors writing style easy to follow, with a smooth read that you want the story to go on and on. She puts detail in and scenes are laid in the correct order, you are never left behind. She tells a heartbreaking story that you the reader want to jump right in an kicks some butt. This is the first work I have read of this authors and it will not be the last. She keeps you hook from the first page to the last. Again I felt the one steamy love scene was out of place and not believable beside that I found this an outstanding read with heartbreaking and heartbreaking that keeps you right there cursing and laughing with the characters. If you are looking for a story to get your attention and take you way as you ride the merry-go-round of life than you have found your story.

I’m soooo happy for Ila right now! I can remember when she posted on a street team that were both on about wanting people to read her debut novel that she would be releasing and getting their thoughts, and I jumped at this amazing opportunity,,,,,,well I was not disappointed.

Congratulations, this story is griping, amazing, inspirational on ALL levels for women/children and those in these types of situations.
Its a sore subject to write a book about, rape and abuse, but the way you tell the story it was inspirational.
You have developed the characters tremendously, Kay is such a beautiful, strong, independent woman on the outside who unfortunately like some people in the world are struggling with demons from their past, therefore tainting their future.
I loved the idea of Seventh Haven, fricking fantastic :) a rehabilitation facility to help those in need, I’ll say this again inspirational.
This story will touch all hearts, towards the end I was balling my eyes out.
Ryder…. where do I start with him. He is such an amazing father figure in this book, not only for his little girl Rowan, but for Kay’s x2 kids Makinin and Sophia also.
1) Where can I get my Ryder
2) How cute is he…… I mean yes…..totally FUCKABLE!
Glad they finally managed to expose her sack of shit EX husband too. The lying, cheating, wife beating scumbag…Urghhhhh
I am sooo glad it all came to a head and Kay, Makinin, Sopia, Ryde & Rowan got their HEA, this family deserved this, and don’t forget she’s a “ sexy ass mum to six ” and I quote :D

I was asked for my honesty while I read this book, so here goes.

This book is about Kay, her children, her past, her rape, her recovery, and her introduction to RYDER and her ever so featuring scumbag husband Preston

It starts with a gruesome chapter regarding Kay's brutal rape, which left her scarred both mentally and physically, & then the follow up chapters regarding her low self esteem that she held for her self, which threw her into an abusive on - going relationship with her A hole of a husband Preston.

Preston not only physically abused her but mentally and verbally abused her as well and this was ongoing for her whole adult life, she had thoughts that she was less than worthy.

All the designer shops, the to do lists, the daily planners, the staff the diamonds, the cars, the flashy instruments, day spa's the $1000 shoes, nothing could quench the inner desires that Kay had.
All those things were just that THINGS........(love these shoes)

Then the stars over looked Kay and let her find the pot of gold at the end of the Rainbow and in walked RYDER, and her world was about to get turned upside down totally.

My review will leave you here, lol I cannot possible give anymore away other than to say.

This is Kay's story. She hasn't had an easy life, and some of her choices were hard to swallow for me, but that's because I have a very different personality. Still the story is great, and keeps you reading to see how she deals with the situation she puts herself in.

Her husband Preston is a creep who needs a taste of his own medicine. He has absolutely no redeeming qualities and is the perfect villain.

Ryder, who Kay winds up falling for is a great guy. There were a couple things I couldn't go with, but over all loved him.

Read it until the end, it's definitely worth it.

Infidelity does occur in this story, but considering Kay's husband, I can't blame her. I was even rooting for her and Ryder, even though most circumstances, I'm not okay with it.
