What a thorough and comprehensive introduction to the wines of Burgundy, the wine-making region I’m perhaps most familiar with, and yet know practically nothing about. Reading about the contrast in terroir and the flavour profiles that characterise the various appellations is fascinating for anyone interested in deepening their appreciation of wine in general, and took me back to holiday road trips via the likes of Beaune and Macôn with my family as a child. Suddenly the wines they love pop out from the pages at me and bring a sense of wonder and curiosity to try them with this newly acquired knowledge, paying better attention to the subtleties and treating them better when serving and pairing.

Highly recommended for any and all wine lovers who don’t mind a bit of lists and statistics alongside the colourful descriptions of winemaking processes, vineyards and grape varieties!

This is the single best book on Burgundy wine. Period.
The maps are detailed and easy to read. The explanations are very clear, with every aspect well and simply defined. As a bonus you get Beaujolais.

Need to understand the label? Here.
Need to understand how grapes are picked? Here.
Need a list of every grand and premier cru? Here.
Every aspect perfected.

Superb.

Found this book by chance and started reading it just for fun.

The book itself is very informative, definitely possesses a lot of valuable datas and must-know facts. However, somehow it was not that appealing to make me really enjoy it. Maybe 'cause I am not a big fan of wines and alcohols, this genre of book was just not my taste.
