Failure to Fire

Rate this book
On September 11, 2002, the crew of an AC130H Spectre gunship prowls the dark skies over Afghanistan, searching for a glimmer of celebratory gunfire on the one-year anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.Failure to Fire tells the story of Airman First Class Stephen Kubiak's first combat deployment to Afghanistan. Kubiak, having just turned 20, is thrust onto the battlefield with only five days separating the completion of his aerial gunner training to touching down at Karshi-Khanabad, Uzbekistan. As a young gunner assigned to 16th Special Operations Squadron, Kubiak faces the challenges of fitting in with the rest of the crew as their play hard, party hard ways are foreign to the “baby gunner.”

Great Short Read

Don't leave is hanging. Look forward to more! Nailed the characters and the description of the plane was amazing. Felt like I was there, sitting in the dark with my helmet and oxygen mask on.
