Rate this book
Over two decades ago, an attack on The Clan of Cobalt left families of dragons in ruins. Now, with the clans able to start rebuilding their lives, history is beginning to rewrite, one dragon and one mate at a time…

Dani Heartview spent a year running from the past she can’t forget and it’s about to catch up in the form of Holden Levy. When he suddenly disappeared, she was devastated, but now he’s back. Even if she can’t deny their connection, the man who returned is vastly different from the one who left.

With Holden’s secrets uncovered, the Alpha dragon inside the man is demanding for its mate to be claimed, but there’s danger lurking close by. Still, his abandonment is a monster she can’t shake. Can she forgive to restart their life, and if she does, can Dani handle exactly what it means to be a dragon’s mate?

I've been around and around the bush on how to review this book, so I'm just going to try to keep it simple.

I enjoyed this story much more than I thought I would. The sample had more angst than I prefer in a story but I was sucked in by the end of it. I needed to know what happened next.

I think it's most difficult to explain the part dragons play in the story. They are an integral part of the story-telling, but the story itself is more about how the characters relate to one another as people. There's just a different feel to this shape-shifter story versus every other one that I've read.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the sex. It's very hot and very intense between these two. If you're a fan of the dirty talk, you'll find quite a bit here.

My favorite part is the binding ceremony for our main characters. The meaningfulness of it was palpable. Even though it is a simple rite, I felt very moved by it.

If you like angst with your story AND shape-shifters, I recommend you take a look.

I tried but the writing never dragged me in. Skimmed some b/c I was bored reading. I love the author's Mafia books so I do hope she writes another PNR book.

100 pages in and I'm still waiting for something to happen.
I liked the length (I prefer books 250 - 300 pages at the least), but with the lack of action, and lack of character development, it might have made a better short story.
I thought she moved to NY city to get away from a abusive relationship, someone who attempted to kill her, the mob, something, not a broken heart. Her rantings and looking over her shoulder all screamed abuse, murder witness, etc. Her reaction to Holden showing up also enforced that idea. Her interactions with Holden after he showed up were too forgiving & too quickly, especially with how much she kept acting like she was in the witness protection program or on the run from a violent person. Her relationship with Joey and co-workers was there just not developed. You never get any info on how she and Joey formed the bond they had. Just a they met at his work when she applied and the relationship was there after that. More fight from Joey, or having him not move on so easily would have been nice. Not having her go back to Holden to easily or quickly would have been nice.
The cover promises so much, some action & some hot loving, but doesn't happen. There is no action, some sex, wishy washy characters, and a story that is there but doesn't really develop. There isn't much character development. There is some wording issues (ex. The cup was forgone from his hand to the floor.)(sending her boyfriend's fist tossing out.). Who talks like that, it doesn't flow. I did like the background given for Holden and his clan.
If Dani had been kidnapped by the rogue dragons, or was on the run from a killer and Holden had rescued her and earned her back, Joey & Holden duking it out for her, her boss actually being slimy, if something like this had happened it could have added to the story. Added some action & excitement. Some of these actually had a start/hint in the book but was dropped.
He tells her that it's not safe to tell her what he is, yet it's okay to show and tell her everything else about how he's different.
I didn't like Dani much, Holden had potential, I liked Willow & Duran, and Joey had his moments.
I'd consider checking out the next book, but if it didn't have something going quickly in the book I would stop reading it.

*ARC obtained in exchange for an HONEST review*

I thoroughly enjoyed A Love Unfinished and cannot wait to see where else this series goes.

When you start reading this novel, it feels like there was a book or two before because you're so far in time looking back at past events. At first, I didn't think I'd enjoy that because there were so many things/events that were recalled and I wanted to know exactly how it played out. I felt like I may have missed something. But the more I read, the more I realized that it worked. It made me think more about the characters and how they've become who they are. I still want to see Willow & Duran's story played out in front of me though haha. That needs to be a .5 novel! :)

I loved the characters and especially the dragon aspect. I'm a dragon fanatic... yea... I collected dragons throughout high school and college, I have a dragon tattoo on my ankle, and I want another one :) I LOVEDDDDD how the author portrayed life in a dragon family, the traditions, the look of the dragons, their strength and possessiveness. I loved it all!

There were a few points in the novel where I felt like there was too much sex (is there a such thing?) because it seemed like nothing else was happening. I didn't mind, but it did stand out to me. I did flip a few pages just to get past it because I wanted to know where else (other than the bedroom) the plot was headed. Ha.

Overall, great novel and great start to a series. I can't wait to see what else this author does.

I'm torn between giving this one a 3 or 4. I kept on feeling like I was reading about someone who has an anxiety disorder. It was a good book and well written. It is angsty with the main focus being the relationship. I'm guessing this type of book just wasn't for me otherwise I would definitely rate it higher.

This was a different kind of shifter book. It was interesting how Holden realized he was a dragon and everything these two went through.
