As a poet, Frederick Biggs has spent over 30 years composing a myriad of poetry targeting children and young people, consequently stimulating the UK school syllabus for poetry. Having dyslexia since childhood; Freddie (as he is more affectionately known), challenged himself to overcome the associated stigmas by committing to publish poems for children. This gave him focus to integrate a series of poems using his experience of Caribbean and British culture which combines nature, sounds, and travel. Freddie has won acclaim throughout the wider poetry society with acknowledgements from his local community in Luton and the UK Central Government office. His work has been notably appreciated by Tony Blair – former Prime Minister, John Prescot MP and The Right Honourable The Baroness Boothryd. Other recognitions came from former MP Kelvin Hopkins, The Arts Council England, Whitefield Junior School, and the Meads Primary School to name a few. Linda, his wife, gave him unfailing support, which kept him on track to complete yet another composition of children’s poems ‘All Creatures Small’.
