If you discovered something about yourself that was less than pleasant, would you search for the answers or would you be too afraid of what you might find?
Like most teenagers, Rouge is trying to figure out who she is and what she wants to be. With little knowledge about her past, she has questions but has never tried to find the answers. Everything changes when she befriends a strangely intoxicating family. Siblings Grace and Michael, appear to have secrets which seem connected to Rouge. Her hunch is confirmed when a horrible incident occurs at an outdoor party. Rouge may be the only one who can find the answer.
An ancient journal, a Siorghra necklace and a special mark force life-altering decisions for a girl who grew up unprepared to fight for her life or others.
All secrets have a cost and Rouge’s determination to find the truth can only lead to trouble…or something even more sinister.
Wanita May grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario - St.Catharines. Crazy-happy childhood, she always has had a vivid imagination and loads of energy.
The youngest of six -- four older brothers, and a sister -- taught her at a young age to be competitive in all aspects of life.
At sixteen, she began competing in athletics (track and field) and before she turned seventeen, she was representing Canada in high jump. She continued to compete, breaking Canada's JR High Jump record (1.92m - 6' 3 1/2" for those metric-ly challenged). She attented University of Toronto, and Kansas State University - winning CIAU's and becoming All-American 6x - NCAA Indoors Runner Up + more.
But you're not interested in her athletic career - unless of course you're curious to know she stands 1.70m (5'7") and has jumped 20cm over her head on more than one occassion. She's represented Canada at the World Championships, World Jrs., won Francophone Games, and loved every minute of every competition. From the grueling workouts, the crazy weights she lifted on her back, the days she thought her lungs were going to spit out of her mouth for lack of oxygen, the travelling around the world and the opportunity to read - her favourite past time.
Life continued with her husband (a distance runner from Liverpool, UK, who she met at KSU) and then their first, then second and finally third child. Their house became full of more imagination and stories.
Wanita and her husband run an online business, dealing in antiques and collectables - particularly jewelry and porcelain (one of the business' website: www.wadeincanada.com ).
After her father passed away in 2009, from a six-year battle with cancer (which she still believes he won the fight against), she began to write again. A passion she'd loved for years, but realized life was too short to keep putting it off.
Her first book, Rae of Hope - from the Chronicles of Kerrigan - will be available October 2011 by kNight Romance Publishing.
She is currently represented by Dawn Dowdle of Blue Ridge Literary Agency. Wanita is a writer of Young Adult, Fantasy Fiction and where ever else her little muses take her.
4 stars for the story. 2 stars for the editing. I'll leverage at 3 stars.
All of the questions I had from part 1 were (thankfully) answered. I was going to be upset if they weren't! To avoid spoilers I will just tell you that yes, Grollics are werewolves. Yes, the Nephilim are fallen angels. Yes, the Nephilim can be killed. Yes, Rouge (pronounced Rogue) *does* fit into the story. Though sadly, Rouge does not fit in like she had hoped.
I also did not catch on that this was a modern urban fantasy rendition of Little Red Riding Hood, though I should have. All the clues were there. Rouge's name, Simon nicknaming her 'Red', and her even mentioning the fairytale once or twice. *facepalm* This line made me realize:
"Happy eighteenth birthday, little Rouge Riding."
Uhhh okay. Not the wolf-shifter-pack-drama I had originally hoped for, but nonetheless this story did surprise me in a good way. There were a couple scenes I could have done without so much detail. I didn't need to know every detail of Michael and Rouge walking back and forth between the house and the pool house, or every detail of Damon and Rouge's trek through the woods and into the cabin.
Also, I'm still wondering what the purpose of making Michael's family fallen angels was. I don't really see how that was needed for the story. I almost wish Michael's family was just human, because it seems out of place with the wolf-genre. But I guess we will see.
There were a good bit of editing errors, grammatical and spelling mistakes. Like "you're" instead of "your" and an extra word that didn't belong here and there. It normally doesn't deter me from enjoying the story but in this particular book I found myself having to go back and reread paragraphs that I stumbled on.
All in all, this was a good story and I'm curious to see what happens.
I loved this book all the way through. I read most of it one sitting. It had enough mystery to keep me wondering, but also enough revelations that I can handle waiting to get the answers.
The were a couple misplaced quotation marks, a couple plurals weren't in the right place, but otherwise it was well edited.
There is no reason for this story to have been released in two parts except greed. I believe that by the date of this writing, that is a non-issue.
Now that we can follow the story to a conclusion of at least one major thread, it is a good story. It is fairly fast paced. I thought there were some pretty good hints as to some of what the reader ultimately wants to know, but there are still some elusive details that even the most perceptive reader may not figure out. For me, that's what makes this type of book a good story. And there are some unknowns to be explored in future books.
In my review of Part 1, I said that sometimes it is a little too much of an information dump. I thought there was still a bit of that, although not nearly as much. In Part 2 we got enjoy the scenery a little, if you will, and digest the story and relationships.
We get to see a little more of Rouge and Michael's character. Seth adds some humor and depth. Caleb is still shallow being pretty much all tough and angry. Are there deeper reasons for Caleb's anger? We will have to see if that is explored in later books.
Something seems missing in Rouge and Michael's romance but I can't put my finger on it. Perhaps it how possessive he gets so quickly despite justifiable concerns to be more cautious.
I usually add a Parental Guidance. There is violence and killing, but not in overly gory terms. Almost all of it against non-humans but some of it is against defenseless females. Three different women are said to be raped although it is not described in detail. One to death. Another woman is beaten some and threatened to be tortured to death. There is no description of any other sex. I believe this is intended to be a YA book and I really can't say that any of this is worse than many other books aimed at teens. For preteens, a parent will have to decide for themselves based on my listings, but I would probably avoid it for that age.
Part II of this story is much stronger than part I maybe because there isn't as much to explain and more action. This book isn't for the faint at heart there is violence and action as the beast get more intense. As Rouge finds out who she is and what she can do the rest of the gang tries to figure out what is going on. This writer provides a riveting story with characters you want to know more about and enjoy their interactions. Keep in mind Rouge is just having her 18th birthday so this is for a younger age group but also for the young at heart. OVerall a good read I would recommend especially if you love shifters and others. They all have secrets it's just a matter of living long enough to learn about them.
I loved this story. Rouge moves to a new town, new foster home biding her time till she turns 18 and out of the system. Nothing is what it seems in this small town and neither is she. Looking forward to reading more of this series.
Part 2 is written a little more smoothly, though there are still some errors. The story is developing well, and is coming together. I enjoyed reading this and will continue with the series.
Judging by some of the comments here, I would say that this book has had some work done it. There are still some editing errors, but they are not as bad as other reviewers have mentioned. I enjoyed the story but felt it finished rather abruptly.
Definitely a teenager read with drawn out plot, but keeps me reading. I feel like the first two books should have been 1 or less drawn out, but decent none the less.
I definitely enjoyed part 2 as much as I did part 1. Yes it's weird spiltting a book into two parts, but is it worth the read? Hell yes! SO go grab a copy and starting reading!!!
I loved Part 2, and have downloaded Part 3 before I finished. The secret continues I cannot wait to find out about Rouge's legacy:). I highly recommend this book.
Unfortunately I didn't enjoy Part 2 any more than I did Part 1 and won't be continuing the series. Which is a shame because it sounded like a book I would enjoy. It does have quite a lot of good reviews so I'm not sure if there is something I'm missing? It was really easy to read though and I absolutely flew through it. I'm just not interested in the characters or the storyline and there was nothing to draw me in.
Wonderful book, I love this series and I have already started the 3rd. Book in the series. So far I am really enjoying it. I have to admit that in some places I have had to go back and read a couple pages again to make sure that I really read and understood the last couple pages. I love the interaction between the main characters and there have been times when I wanted to be able to grab the father figure and squeeze his neck until he made a lot of loud funny noises. If you love werewolfs and vampires with a twist then you really should give this series a try, You will not be sorry.
The amazing adventures continue. While some secrets are revealed, the mystery deepens and the fascination concerning Rouge increases. There is heart stopping action and scary confrontations. Some surprising twists sweeten the plot. The momentum pushes forward taking the reader on a wild ride. A cliffhanger will leave you thirsting for more. Paranormal lovers will enjoy the mystery & magic.
W.J.May did an amazing job on book 2. Read it in one sitting. She kept me so into the book with the storyline and some actions. I can't wait for book 3. I didn't find the book boring at all. Nothing dragged the storyline that would making this boring in was intense for me. W.J. great job.
I was a little worried after the first one that the second couldn't be as good... She doesn't disappoint! I had to immediately buy the next 2 books... Wouldn't want to finish 3 in a place I didn't have wifi to download it to my iPad! The characters get even better, the world is continuing to expand and seeing how the littlest pieces are placed to fit better later, makes it a gift to read!
I really did enjoy the storyline and the characters. Do I think that it is well written? The answer to that would be "no". I don't know if this is one of those self-published books, but somebody is in dire need of a proof reader or an editor.
Part 2 picks up where part 1 leaves off and I read it in one sitting. The characters were more fully developed in part 2 and I found myself wanting to know more. I look forward to the next installment of the saga.
The book is get story but I couldn't really concentrate on what really going on... It keeps going in so many direction. But I can't wait to read the next book and learn more about Rouge and why she could command the Grollics....

I listened to the audio book and the narrator wasn't very good but the story was good so I let that slide. This story has an interesting plot that kept me listening and wanting to know what happens next.
Seventh Mark is a great book to a fantastic series. W.J. May left met wanting more, while letting me fall in love with the characters. There's suspense, action and the perfect amount of romance. I can't wait to read this entire series!
Okay so now I know what she is I'm completely not intrigued anymore and to be honest, this book was just not for me.
Its interesting and all but Grollcs and whatever Michael is just doesn't appeal to me. I'm not in love with any of them. I don't hate them but I'm not bothered either.
This is a pretty good series. I like Rouge and can't wait to see what else happens before she figures out not only who she is but what she is. Should be pretty interesting. Enjoy!
