The Devil DeVere #3-4

A Devil Named DeVere: Limited Edition Anthology

Rate this book
A Devil Named DeVere is a full length compilation of three previously published novellas (The Devil You Know, The Devil's Match, A Devil's Touch) that all feature Ludovic "the Devil" DeVere. To better serve as a standalone title, this volume has also been re-edited with the addition of select scenes from A Wild Night's Bride and The Virgin Huntress.

WHEN DEALING WITH THE DEVIL…IT'S EASY TO GET BURNED

When burned once… Beautiful, respectable, and dutiful, Diana Palmerston-Wriothesley was resigned to her decade-long loveless and childless marriage to a feckless husband until a dire discovery shatters her life.

By an old flame... A master of seduction, Viscount Ludovic, "The Devil" DeVere, is accustomed to taking what he wants heedless of the cost until encountering a woman who won't be had at any price—at least not until a dark secret compels her to seek aid and comfort in this devil's arms. What begins as an all-consuming passion becomes a true devil's bargain when circumstances beyond their control drive the lovers irrevocably apart.

Fire is best fought with fire…Four years later, DeVere is world-weary and bored with his life of debauchery when Diana unexpectedly reappears. Although both believe the former inferno has been reduced to bitterness and ashes, their chance reunion proves otherwise. With their passion reignited to undeniable ferocity, DeVere is hell-bent to lure Diana back into his bed… while she is equally determined to bring him to his knees.

I am so happy Ms Vane decided to combine all of Ludovic "The Devil" DeVere short stories (#s 3, 4, and 4.5) into one full length novel. It makes it more affordable for some of us. I miss the illustrations though.

I love the whole Devil DeVere series This book was more serious then A Wild Night's Bride which had me laughing out loud. However, this book shows another side of the author's writing and it worked A Devil Named DeVere is a wonderful historical romance with a lovely bit of steam added in.

This book starts out when Devere was young and thought he was in love with a selfish young girl just looking for a title and money. So when DeVere meets Diana he has some trust issues. Diana is a strong respectable woman DeVere sets his sights on but does not get a real chance to know her until several years later and that is when the real story begins. DeVere thinks he is doing Diana a favor by leaving her life and while he is gone he never forgets and neither does Diana.

DeVere is a very charming rogue and Diana can not help but to fall for his charms even though she tries. Devere does not make it easy for Diana to trust him but in the end who could resist? Of course The Devil DeVere will do everything possible to resist the love he feels for Diana but he can only hold out for so long. He soon learns Diana is worthy of his trust, love, and devotion.

This book was given to me by the author for an honest review

Review:

"A Devil Named DeVere" by Victoria Vane was a combination of this series book 3, 4 and 4.5 novels. These were all short stories that fitted so well together giving the reader a full length read.

We find from this read that DeVere is quite young and besides that most of the young ladies he was around was out more for his money and title. Now, we find DeVere has some 'trust' issues that bothers him then he meets Diana. This wonderful story will really pick up where we find is Diana now falling for DeVere's charms? Will Diana be able to trust DeVere? Will DeVere be able to resist the love he has for Diana? This novel really gets into the romantic love story of this man
'Viscount Ludovic (AKA Devil DeVere) and Diana. This is hot and steamy! This author really works her magic in the wonderful well written read by giving the reader one digital book with three stories...'The Devil You Know, The Devil's Match and The Devil's Touch.' Be ready for "rakes, scandal, wounded hearts, seduction, and passion" all in one wonderful title: "THE DEVIL NAMED DEVERE that I would definitely recommend as a excellent read.

All the De Vere stories in one volume. I had to re-read them.

The stories are great and form a cohesive whole in spite of having being issued originally in novella form. I did enjoy them, but I had a sneaking feeling that, although De Vere is the epitome of the dark, brooking rogue hero, he would have been terrible to live with.

4 stars for the first 2 parts and 3 stars for the last part. I just couldn't like that part. I wish it wasn't there at all , I would have finished the book happier.
I liked the epilogue though.
