After 26 years in Corporate leadership at a Fortune 500, I discovered people within the organization lacked integrity. I’d always known deep in my soul that I was trying to fit a square peg in to a round hole since I’m the typical creative type. I miss my staff but I don’t miss the corporate world. It’s been said that the Universe will let you know if something isn’t right for you. The first time, it will hit you with a pebble. Then a brick. Then a boulder. Let’s just say that I got flattened. When my fifteen pound toy dog, Nigel, was threatened, I knew it was time to say goodbye. It’s true. Here’s what I found within the first thirty days of being free. Writing stories from my heart that readers love means more to me than working myself in to an early grave for people who only care about their bottom line. My heart has never been more full and my soul has never been more satisfied. I’ve never worked so hard in my life but it doesn’t even feel like work. It’s worth it. All of it. Because it’s about the joy that’s found within the journey. The highs and the lows because I get to write stories for all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, enjoying and recommending the stories that I write. When you share my work with others, nothing is more rewarding. Your word of mouth is my very best friend … that, and your reviews. There is nothing more important to me than all of you. I love to hear from my readers and answer all communications personally. Britt escapes from her life to protest her family’s patriarchal attitude and runs to her best friend Tierney in Sorrowville. She ends up also running to Holden, who she doesn’t know is already hung up on her. Holden is such a hard worker, doing both his job as a hockey player and a USPS delivery man. It was sad watching Beth try to get rid of Britt, but it also kind of made sense. The chili things is pretty funny. Britt and Holden do a terrible job communicating with each other for most of the book. She literally takes over his entire home and changes everything without once thinking about what he wants even though she only plays to be there a short time. He has a hard time speaking up out of fear of her running away sooner. I liked the parent relationships in the end. Blink is a riot, as is Shep. Montgomery is horrific. Beth shows her soft side a little. Love, love, love.
Britt Jensen is a lawyer from the city and comes from a wealthy family. She has a trust fund but won't get it until she turns 30 or gets married unlike her brother who got his at 25. Her dad wants her to marry Fritz and she wants NO part of it. She's angry with her dad and takes off to Sorrowville, Minnesota to see her friend.
Holden Travers plays hockey for the Sorrowville Slammers. He met Britt through her friend Tierney and now she's back in town. He was smitten by her and now that she's back they hook up and she ends up moving in with him. Let the craziness begin.
I’m really enjoying the Sorrowville Slammers series! Britt and Holden’s story was fantastic! Britt escapes her family after a disagreement about her trust fund, so she takes off to Sorrowville. Minnesota to see her friend Tierney. Holden playes hockey for the Sorrowville Slammers. He has had feelings for Britt since he first met her. They started a temporary relationship because she doesn’t plan to stay, but plans have a way of changing. This story touches your heart and will give your emotions a workout! I loved it! I can’t wait for book 3!
Britt and Holden's romance is the kind of story that goes straight for your heart and scores a direct hit. I loved these characters. Britt had a fierceness to her, but she was also very easy to relate to and sympathize with. Holden was quite simply, just a genuine great guy that I found super swoony. This wonderful read gave my emotions a workout as I fell head over heels for this couple and even more in love with Sorrowville and The Slammers. Can't wait for book three.
Britt is disgusted with her father when she finds out her brother is getting his trust early because he’s a male. She has to be thirty or married. She is a successful lawyer and doesn’t need the money, it’s the principal. She goes to be with her friend and hooks up with Holden. She keeps telling him it’s only temporary with them, she’ll be going home. Holden has had it bad for her. How’s he going to make her stay?
I have been anxiously awaiting Holden since he appeared delivering packages in book one. I knew he was gonna be a cinnamon roll! And Britt? I NEED to be her friend. She’s tough and he’s so laid back, I wasn’t sure how that was going to work out. They were so perfectly written for one another. That last chapter..... I literally laughed until I cried! Can’t wait for book three!
Brit and Holden's story had me laughing and swooning. The sibling-like relationship that Holden has with the other members of the hockey team had me cracking up throughout the book. I loved Brit's fiercely independent personality and the love that she found in the most unexpected place. This book sucked me in and wouldn't let me go.
I'm really digging this look at the more "normal person" players and their stories. Can't wait to read the next book! You always know how to leave someone wanting more.
One of my favorite quotes…”The brie. It is coming back to haunt me”. This novel mixes fun romcom with a cute hockey romance about a woman from the city who falls for a small town hockey player. There are some great spicy scenes and the entire town of Sorrowville is peppered with crazy characters but it also has some heartfelt parts as well. I love the series and am excited for the next book!
