A year ago, I was dragged into what I thought was hell against my will—the Daedalus Palace in the Elysean city of Idaea.
Turns out that was just a place, but there’s an actual hell here, so now I'm going in there, too. This time, though? Death is pretty much guaranteed, and I'm going in willingly.
But if I'm lucky and I somehow survive, I'll get to say that I spent my nineteenth birthday in the Underworld.
***This book contains very explicit romantic scenes.
*This is the final book in The Holy Bloodline series.
It was a decent last book. However, compared to the first book, it kind of Titanic’d.
We get a conclusion, but it felt really abrupt. Like everything dragged in the middle and then suddenly stopped right before toppling off a cliff’s edge. Okay, maybe that’s a bit drastic, but I felt very unsatisfied. Especially since there were still some hanging chads. Or more appropriate, hanging Amelia’s. Unresolved, just dangling there. This could definitely use an epilogue.
As much as I liked Shade, by this book he was essentially reduced to nothing but a guy whose life was solely and completely focused on Sera. Now, I like a good romance, and a guy who is devoted. But not someone who basically has no personality other than to worship the ground the FMC walks on, and has no life of his own. Pretty much every single thing he says/talks about involves how much he wants/loves/etc Sera. He devolved into a one dimensional character.
Sera became a special snowflake. I liked her in the first book, even the second. But then she just became…meh. And by the end, I didn’t much care for her. A lot of her thinking was about how hot and desirable Shade was, which seemed pretty shallow. I mean, I got the point in the first book. She felt pretty one sided in her friendships, too. I don’t know, I just think she could have had a little more growth as a person. But maybe that’s just me.
The biggest issue I had with this last book was the amount of errors, especially compared to the other three books (which had minimal errors for the most part).
Suddenly the author seemed to forget every other chapter if Oreo was a he or a she.
“exactly like we had that day we first came into this place with Emily and Marie.” You mean Erica and Marie. Oops?
“Still, young Pursues, ordered by the wicked king” You mean Perseus.
“Listen to me, Shade. I can’t handle myself. Really. I can.” Uh… which one is it, can’t or can?
Then there were the weird phrases that have been consistent in all books, such as ‘grabbing her hips’ (it’s usually ‘put her hands on her hips’ or ‘placed her hands on her hips’ or something). I don’t know why this irks me so much, but grabbing at one’s hips just seems an awkward way to phrase it. And pulling in someone’s lips to keep from smiling. I get what the author is trying to portray, but again, awkward.
The whole reveal about Sera was a little confusing to me. I got the point, but some of the imagery didn’t seem to work well for me. Again, could be a me thing. And the whole Gods thing just seemed to get a little more ridiculous by this book.
I would still recommend the series, especially if you like Greek mythology. I skimmed most of the numerous sexy times because they felt too often and too similar. Despite all my complains/issues, I still enjoyed reading it as a whole. The last book, unfortunately, didn’t seem like a four star one in my mind.
My main problem with this book is that it is so loooooong. Probably some spoilers. I skipped about 150 pages because I just couldn't keep reading about nonsense anymore. There was a lot of filler especially when simply communicating better or "trusting her instincts" like she said a million times but didn't do. Don't get me wrong, I thought the whole series was great and had a very good plot/storyline until the last book and it just dragged on. Even the little stories at the beginning of the chapters were pretty interesting. I just got frustrated when Sera would say "something is wrong" yet do nothing different and just trust was Artemis was telling her even though she knew something was wrong. Could've saved a lot of time. And I felt that Shade got dumber in this book and would just go along with what Sera said. In the other books he had a lot of good insight and opinions and this one had hardly any of that. It was just frustrating to have the characters say the same things over and over. In all the books the word "flinch" is easily over used as well as feeling nauseous and panicky as well as the frequent stuttering episodes. The ending was good and wrapped mostly everything up, it would've been nice to see her reunite with Miles but that would've made the book even longer. Over 600 pages is a lot in my opinion especially when it could've been shorter but just as good. Regarding the MMC and FMC they were great together and the steam was good, the secondary characters I thought also worked well and made the story better. Like I said, the series was a fun read except for this last book.
From start to finish every single aspect of this story has held me captivated. Sera was a beautiful character and her love with Shade (though I do like the name Adryan more), was magical. I appreciate that even though he was the shadow daddy of our dreams he wasn't evil, and in fact was a softie inside.
This series was a struggle to get through. The pacing was slow and overly drawn out, and there were a lot of details that had large focus when they were brought up, but that turned out to be nothing.
One detail in particular was the muscle relaxers that Sera took when beginning her training with Artemis, and then the conversation with Max with him asking if Sera was consuming anything that would be the cause of XYZ-plot-point. Sera says no, and then begins to doubt the muscle relaxer. Later on when the muscle relaxer is offered again after a 2 hour battle with the daemons, Sera just consumes it again with no question, and it’s never brought up again. Why add in the conversation regarding the muscle relaxer being suspicious if it’s really not? There are so many other ways we could call into question Artemis’ character or ulterior motives.
This series was also 4 books, but the final battle entering the Underworld and Sera’s final discovery of who/what she is happens in the last like 10% of the LAST book. It was like the author started writing the series, kind of disliked it as it was being written, so she rushed writing the ending.
Additionally, why is our MC constantly passing out? Why is she going into our final boss fight with minimal control on her magic or understanding of how it works? Why were Nyx and Thanatos portrayed so aggressively when first meeting Sera when they obviously wanted to help her / needed her help?
Another problem I had with our MC was that it was obvious she was trying to be portrayed as a damaged, tortured soul, with all her trauma and daily nightmares. Yeah dude, super unnecessary, the constant nightmares was so overkill and didn’t add anything to her character development. The constant bad decision making, the constant self sabotage, these are not the decisions of someone with trauma that had to rely on their street smarts to survive.
Plot holes: The Soters plot point didn’t go anywhere. They just … exist and then fade to black. The Trials don’t make sense. The Elyseans WANT mortals to come and be endowed to use their godlights, but the Trials that literally kill off the participants and choose the attendees based on their religiousness, PLUS the lack of action from the Headmistress to protect them from the dangers of the Soters is greatly counterproductive. They wanted to increase the number of mortals to fight the daemons, but then did everything they could to limit the graduates to literally 1-2 people every 4 years because they had to pass the Trials and THEN graduate the academy. The whole thing about beauty and the class of Physical Appearance and doing everything with beauty? Didn’t go anywhere. Tried to be dark academia, secretive society, hidden truths kind of vibes too much without actually having any kind of meat. The reveal was weak and not well thought out.
Many issues with this book and with this series overall. I think it had a good premise and initial planning phase, but there was no development on a lot of things that could’ve made this series good.
What a way to finish! It was crazy and a wild ride. It felt like so much happened and it really left me wondering and guessing how it would all end up. I love Sedorah and Shade, I love Max and Mave, I love all the lore in this one and all the action. Great series all around.
This is book four of The Holy Bloodlines series and the finale to the story of Shade and Sera. Sera is getting close to finishing her first year of study at the Daedalus Palace in the Elysean city of Idaea. She is getting personal training sessions with the goddess Artemis, to expand her ability to defend herself and fight against the daemons who come up from the Underground and from within the Well of Darkness and the portal that the school and city is built around, to protect mankind. It is one of three portals in the world, with Elysean cities based around them. At the start of this book, Sera’s secret of what happened to her age five, is revealed to one and all, after someone records her talking to her best friend Max’s father, Alan Roux, the Elysean who brought her back from the dead after she died in the same car accident that killed her parents. This act, even though she was only five at the time and not the one responsible for what happened, suddenly has all of the other students and even the teaching staff, hating her and doing everything they can to ignore her and show her their hatred of her. Even the healer calls her an abomination, while the Headmistress Carmine now wants her dead, for what happened to her brother Alan after that event. She is out for blood and if Sera doesn’t die trying to close the portal to the Underworld with Artemis, then Carmine will kill her! Sera is quite resigned to dying to close the portal, especially if her death might somehow bring about a cure for Alan, or so she hopes, feeling she needs to sacrifice herself to pay him back for his kind act all those years ago.
When Carmine tries to attack just after her Endowment ceremony, Shade pulls everyone into the Void, not caring if they might lose their memories, and sends her to his locked room. Sera worries what will happen to Shade, her Shadow Boy as she calls him, as he will be severely punished for what he has done. Until the video was shown, Sera had finally started to be accepted as a human within the Elysean system and had even saved the whole school when Shade lost control of the Void, somewhere she found to be comforting herself. Now it seems like she is enemy number one and no one will even look at her. The only people that do are Ethan and Nick, who wait outside her room to walk her to class and stick with her at lunch time and more. They are a great support, especially when Shade is serving downstairs, fighting off hordes of daemons with his team. When he isn’t, he spends his nights with her, but they can’t sleep together, as her magic is too dangerous and fight against his. She soon learns that her magic is totally different than what other Elyseans magic is and how it works. There is much for Sera to learn about herself, but it seems her memories of her past were taken from her when she was brought back to life. This leaves her in a dangerous position as other gods come for her and she can’t fully trust what Artemis says to her all the time. She knows Artemis is hiding things from her but doesn’t realise quite how much! A great comfort to her is her Cerebus puppy Oreo, a three headed creature from the Underworld, who has chosen to be with her. He scares most of the students, who dare not even try to pet him, but he protects her and loves Shade as well.
Sera’s best friend Max refuses to even look at her, never mind talk to her after he finds out what happened to her father happened because he helped save Sera all those years ago. After Shade pulling everyone into the Void, his girlfriend Mave doesn’t wake up immediately, and is one of those who has lost her memories, and is another reason for him avoiding her. It is Mave who forces them back together and makes the start taking again, pushing Max to try and find a cure for his dad. Sera is almost ready to try and fight a daemon or two and when Artemis says she is ready, she joins Shade and his team by the Well of Darkness with Oreo, who is also scared. When her magic comes out of her, it isn’t a Godlight like a few of the others can utilise, but something else completely. The daemons targeted just disappear from the black wasteland and nobody can understand how that happened. Artemis is working with Hector and his three giant horses, who are kept underwater otherwise they would be burning, to construct a strong enough carriage for them all to survive the journey to the Underworld! When Sera visits them in that secluded area below the school, she catches sight of things Artemis refuses to give her answers about, but it seem they are travelling to the Underworld to do more than just close the portal and Artemis is keeping much of it a secret. Secrets and lies are never a good way to build trust and Sera will soon find out everything about her true heritage and why she has the magic she does. So much going on and so many revelations that bring some truly shocking discoveries into the light and could change everything for Sera and Shade. A great ending to Sera’s story with Shade and Oreo, and I hope we get to see some glimpses of them in a future series maybe. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I Have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Not a bad ending written by a pesky mortal (iykyk).
I adored this series. Sometimes the issue with fantasy series is they drag out into way too many books. This series was the perfect length. The plot, the direction, the characters all perfection. Shade the MMC is strong and likeable without being unnecessarily toxic (which is something you often see in other fantasy series), Sera is strong, fierce and realistic, those two together alongside Oreo… perfect combination.
I laughed and cried reading this last book. I’m so glad I stumbled upon this series. One I haven’t seen recommended by many but one that is definitely worth any hype it gets.
Gods, battle scenes and hell hounds… what’s not to love!
The first two books were fantastic, but books 3 and 4 felt a bit dragged out. Some of the wording also felt repetitive. I found myself skimming a lot, and Sera repeatedly realizing she shouldn’t trust Arti but continuing to do so became frustrating. She would acknowledge the distrust, but nothing really came of it. That being said, it’s still a solid series overall. I liked the ending—sort of. It wraps up well enough but leaves a few things unresolved, maybe setting up for a spin-off.
I’m not a fan of mythology but this series pulled me in from the first chapter. While I enjoyed the series. This final book did drag a bit for me but overall a really good series. Definitely will be checking out this authors other series.
Rcvd an advanced reader copy from the author for giving my two cents. Wow!! DN Hoxa knows how to lure you in like the river Leithe in the book but instead of death...you sit on the edge waiting for anticipation. We met Sera in previous books as a pesky human who has more power than any Elyseans. We ended the last book of her visiting Alan Roux, Max's dad, shown at a celebration and then all hell breaks loose. Max is hurt, Carmine wants her head and Shade with her hellhound Oreo, want to keep her safe. Arti basically tells her to pull her big girl pants on and keep focused. Sera knows deep down smtg isn't right. She had more power and the more questions she asks the Goddess, the more answers she doesn't get. The time has come for Sera to fight daemons with Shade at the wall. She is terrified but at thr same time this power inside of her knows what to do. Sera is having dreams of a blonde woman who opens a safe with a weird design. Then she is sucked into a vortex with Arti, unbeknownst to Art, where she comes face to face with the Gods aphrodite and ares...what on earth is going on? Arti tells her the sad story how they betrayed her and Apollo. Again Sera knows smtg is afoot but she chooses to trust Artemis. However when the gods of death and the night come for her, Sera feels like they will give her the answers she seeks. Will seeking this knowledge be the death of Sera or will it finally give her the answers that had plagued her since finding out she came back from the dead? Another fantastic book! An epic story that continues to have DN Hoxa on the top my my favourite author list!
Did I sob through the last 3 chapters of this? You bet Zeus' butt I did! But was it worth it? Every moment.
I sped through the first 3 books of this series a few months ago, and I was dying to know how it ended. It was well worth the wait.
People revived, souls brought back from the Underworld, God's in battle with one another, humans fighting daemons, and a goddess in disguise. It was all so perfect. Add in a shadow daddy and a helhound for a pet, and I cease to exist!
It was the perfect amount of romance and action-packed fantasy adventure. There's so much detail that you never get bored; the world fleshes out so beautifully in your mind. I'm heartbroken that the series is over. I need more Sera, Shade, and Oreo in my life. Or at least an extended epilogue. I need to know what their lives are 10 years from now.
While I nurse this book hangover, please go check this series out. And until then, keep praying, pesky mortals.
I enjoyed the series but the last book really did my head in.
The main character just made bad decisions ALL the time. She kept running away from people and then not finding out answers OR lying and omitting information which would have saved everyone about half a book.
I swear every other paragraph was she collapsed from exhausting or she needed to sleep!
There was very little action in all the books.
Tbh in the end I was skipping whole tranches of the book as it was SO repetitive. Collapse, about to get info, freak out, lie to everyone about the experience, whine about shade, feed the pup a cookie, collapse. Rinse and repeat.
First book was good. The 2nd/3rd/4th could have been condensed into one. In fact we spent 2/3 in her first year in school…. The last book was 20% spent in the underworld!!!!!!! This was way more interesting!
4.5 stars - appreciate the pacing on this one but it feels like since this was so long that books 2/3 could’ve just been one book. However, I LOVE that it was happy endings all around :,)
TLDR; Sera’s life is turned upside down after it’s revealed to the whole school that she was brought back to life. Lots of training and lots of secrets. Artemis was sus the whole book but turns out it’s bc she was the villain! No shock there. Sera is a reincarnation of Eos goddess of the dawn, so that’s why her powers are so strong. Artemis uses her to get back to Apollo in the underworld. Sera discovers they are evil and her and her crew try to fight them, but ultimately it’s too much. They basically all die or are dying when sera is able to summon Zeus who saves them all. Including Alan Roux 🥲 Everyone lives, and everyone is happy. EOS takes back her god power so now sera no longer hurts shade.

I loved this series and the ending was epic. Loved the lead up to the ending and enjoyed the intrigue, action, and surprises. A great twist or two was in this one and I read it in one sitting as soon as I got it to see how it would all play out. Steamy, fun and a wild ride where Sera was the star and with Oreo and the others present too. Started out storing and kept the fun going to the end. Sad to see it end but loved the ending.
This book was so good and then it crashed and burned in the end with the author not making sense. How can she be Eos but then Eos is another person/goddess at the same time? Like make it make sense. It really threw me off and I genuinely didn’t like how the battle went between the gods and Apollo and Artemis. Could’ve been wrapped up a lot better.

This was a really good series but I kinda feel like this one was just so repetitive and going around in circles it was becoming annoying by the time I got to this last book I noticed and I loved the last 3. I expected for the Sera to start asking more questions or trust in someone else to help her. I love her best friend Max and Mave. We didn't get to see them much in this one which I think is what help me get threw the last one. I really missed Max he the best guy friend you could have!
They don't even leave for the underworld until 77% of the book, page 464, she still don't even know what she is, lol This book is 600 pages long. There's all these clues in the book of you pay attention but it's this cycle of breakfast, training, panic freak out collapse, The Dreams, sleep, eat, have some happy time lol Figure out who she is what she is sometimes, She throws herself a pity party, like girl hey your s*** together!. It just goes around in a circle, rinse and repeat, and some of that is actually throughout the whole series and a classmates staring at her, they like her one moment, then they hate her the next, that's throughout the last 3 books and it's just yeah, rinse and repeat, which was annoying. Some of comments below are true. I always like to see if there right or not. And some of it is, especially the rinse and repeat. the repetitiveness. Things would happen and then it would die down again it was so frustrating! lol This series could have been condensed.
Sera really just irritated me but I still loved her and Shade! He blow dried her hair, it's was s very cute moment! The had alot of very cute moments ❤️!
Once they finally get to the Underworld/ The Kingdom of the dead, which is the same place, it seemed she thought they were 2 different places and they are not. While she talking with Hecinne which is the DAUGHTER of HECATE, she at the Tempe of Hecate and it's on ruins. Hecinne explains what the realm use to look like and makes a few other statements that you would think Sera would ask her questions about but no she does not and I'm just like you could have asked her so many questions and you didn't even ask why the temple is in ruins. Things like that would happen, it didn't make since because of the things she wanted to know but she saved it all for the end, which she didn't have to if she executed it right, especially with the 2 gods Nyx and Thanos, when they show up. they are there supposely to help her, but the author makes it seems that they're trying to hurt her when they're not so that threw me for a loop too at the end. She wants to talk to them but once Sera in their presence she wants to fight them or run away hide, Shade to, it was just very confusing actually which would anger me cause she should be at least a little stronger by that point. She just seemed to be back and forth, 2 steps forward 2 steps back which isn't good for character growth especially after everything she has already learned and has seen. I still enjoyed the story tho and will recommend cause it is a really good story and I did enjoy reading it! I will definitely read more from this author and hopefully she took some of the suggestions from these reviews cause I enjoy her story telling and practice makes perfect!😁

I loved this book and the series as a whole. The writing didn't get me too bogged down as some fantasy books can get, and it was a very good story, overall.
That being said, this book was long, and felt long. There was way too much buildup for the quick and easy ending to the whole series at the end. It was very anti-climactic. I was hoping for more, but then it all ended so quickly. That seems to be the par for each of the books in the series, it starts slow, takes a while to get anywhere, then things pick up and the book is over.
The author repeatedly uses the phrase "before the minute was over" or some similar derivation of it. This, to me, feels like such a clunky phrase. It is one that I haven't explicitly heard before. I would attribute it to just the writer's frame of mind or something, but it was used over and over throughout the whole series. This felt very strange to me. I don't know if it is because it is a phrase that I haven't heard before and it just stuck out to me, or if it was truly just an awkward turn of phrase.
At the same time I am both sad it is over, but happy, too. Sad that I have no more to read and continue in this world. Despite how slow it was, the author created a very rich world that I would like to spend more time in. Happy because it did actually drag on, and at this point I need to reset my brain.
I would definitely recommend these books to others. I might read them again in the future.
Let’s be honest—this series and I had a bit of a rocky relationship. Book three had me sighing a lot, mostly out of frustration with our dear Sera. But I'm happy to report that book four—The Elysean Dream—pulled things back together and gave me the redemption arc I’d been craving.
Yes, there were some slow bits (you know the ones… where you start checking how many pages are left in the chapter), but the final chapters made up for it with a surge of action, emotional payoffs, and a lead heroine who finally remembered she’s not a doormat. Sera got her spark back!
Now, let’s talk about the real MVP: Shade. Dark, broody, loyal, self-sacrificing… Shade continues to be the moment. He’s the type of fictional male lead who makes you irrationally angry that he's not real. I would read all four books again just for his scenes alone.
The ending? It gave me most of what I wanted. Was it a bit rushed? A little. Did it cram a whole lot of plot resolution into the last stretch? Yep. Was there an epilogue? Sigh—no, and I’m still bitter. But even so, it wrapped things up in a way that felt earned and satisfying.
Final verdict: If you’ve come this far in the series, finish it. For Sera’s comeback. For the action. But mostly, for Shade. Just... Shade.
OhmyGawd. D.N. Hoxa just has a way with her books that leaves me breathless and so, so emotional. This was a very stunning conclusion to the Holy Bloodlines series. The last quarter of the book I was an emotional mess. Because first off, they were already in the underworld and there was still a quarter of the book left. Like, I was soo anxious because I kinda saw the betrayal coming, with the way things were building up. And Sera and Shade? Their love? I can only dream of such a thing. *sobbing*. Shade is a shadow daddy, and at the same time he is such a softie for Sera and Oreo. Ugh, don't even get me started on Oreo. She gave me such puppy fever, coz who doesn't want a three headed puppy as their pet? The relationship with the side characters, as always, is super important. And I loved every second of Mave and Max. And Alan? don't even get me started. I wanted to cry with the way everything happened. The whole entire series was damn epic and though I wish there was more, I'm glad and happy at the ending. I was satisfied, so to speak, though I wanted a little more. I always want a little more.
I really liked this story from the very first book. The characters were interesting, and it was fun to relearn the Greek mythologies.
I was on book 3 when I thought I was reading book 2. It made me realize that I had no clue what book 2 was about. This series just kept getting more and more drawn out. We'd take 1 step forward and then 10 steps back. By the time I was reading the final book, I was sick and tired of Sera. She doesn't have any character growth. Never relies on her friends and doesn't voice the important questions in her head. Every time we were about to discover something life altering, the author said "nope" and hid the truth till the very end. She treated it like a grenade. Took the pin out for intisipation but kept putting the pin back in before the bomb went off. She let it all explode in the very end, and honestly, I was so over it.
I read the conversation between Sera and Alan and then skipped to the last page. The last 20 pages are nonsense and not worth reading since the story is over. Overall, this story could've been done in 3 books with more action and less drawn-out tales.
This is my 2nd series by this author (first one was Fall of the Seven Isles, go check it out!!) and I just love how she writes her series.
Captivating from the very beginning. I’m not usually into the whole Greek Mythology thing but I very much enjoyed it here!
4th book is the longest of the series and while I agree there were areas that could have been shortened or cut, overall, I feel like it all brought the story full circle. Kept me on my toes.
My favorite thing about this author is how she writes the main character romances. Good spice scenes obviously 🌶️🌶️🌶️ but also, just their true love for each other. That even when they need to be apart (which again, I love that she doesn’t fall into the “need to be a part for 1/2 the book trope) their love is still showing through so much. They work together to solve things and lean on each other vs pushing the other away. Sera and Shade are just *chef’s kiss* 💋
I do wish she would put epilogues at the end of her series. Just to give a litttttle glimpse into the characters afterwards. But she still wrapped up the story well.
Solid 4.25. This series has an almost perfect ratio of smut : plot with no insta-lust, interesting side characters, and I've been hooked the entire series! Lately I've found that the more I read the harder it is to find new material in my favorite genre: magical epic fantasy with a side of romance - and this series hits the nail on the head!
All that said, I do have to vent! Sera is a relatively intelligent woman but if she dismisses her danger instincts one more time, decides she was overreacting and sh*t blows up in her face it's going to drive me nuts!
Also, I'm all for a hot book boyfriend who's broody but sweet underneath it all and dedicated to his partner until death, but if that's his whole personality it can be sweetness overload and not believable.
On my wish list for future character and relationship building: Maybe Shade happens to become besties with Max and Maeve and they like to get drunk and paint or crochet or rescue 3-headed dogs together? Maybe we get to see more of Shade's friends who seemed bad-a*s but then disappeared after the 1st book?
The ending seemed to fall flat. Much of the start and middle of the book seemed to drag on, and then... it just ended. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't really get the whole Eos thing, and there were so many unresolved issues. What was even the point of Aphrodite and Ares? I feel like they should have had a bigger role. And I still don't really get what was going on with Nyx and Thanatos? It seemed like they were supposed to be such big characters, but they really had no purpose. And Amelia? In the first book, it seemed she was going to be a major player, and then... she just became a crazy girl who popped in and out of the book at random times. Also, how did nobody question why she had godlight when Sera was clearly an Elysian? I thought only mortals had godlight? Continuing on that note, did I miss when we learned what godlight even is or why mortals have it? It's still a good book, I guess, it just feels incomplete. Like, maybe there should be a companion book to clear some of these things up? I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Sera is dreaming of a blond woman, but while she trusts Artemis, she begins to suspect that the goddess is withholding some details. She will only realize just how much Arti wasn't telling her or the other Elyseans when they go to the Underworld to rescue Apollo from his "imprisonment". Wow, I loved this series and hated that it had to end, but this was a happily ever after that I won't soon forget. Gods, deamons, magic and enough twists in the plot to make your head spin. The characters in this series are all beautifully well written and unique. I adored this sometimes very steamy romance between Sera and Shade. Throw in a cute and cuddly three headed hellhound puppy and I'm hooked. I can't say enough about how very much I thoroughly enjoyed this book and series, and I highly recommend it to other readers of this genre.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Still can't figure out why all the passages were added at the beginning of each chapter. They didn't add much foreshadowing. I loved most of the story but the pacing fell apart at the end. Reading how she took every opportunity to not follow her instincts after a God specifically asked her to, drove me mad. She started a conflict with Shades uncle that was written like there'd be impending consequences when they returned and that just got forgotten. Speaking of forgotten, Miles who? We get nothing about how she plans to handle her new role that has obvious problems and Shade promised to introduce us to his mom. *Crying* All this could have been written in or eluded to if the middle of the story wasn't so redundant and the mystery wasn't dragged out. She eeked out an ending by the skin of her teeth. All in all, I loved the story if you can forgive a disappointing conclusion.
I loved this series. I loved the development of who Sera was as a person, her relationship with Shade, her friendships that she developed, and her growth as she learned more about who she was and who she wanted to be. I felt she showed remarkable strength in coping with the changes she went through.
I liked that everything wasn’t sunshine and rainbows through the story. There were points of heartbreak and sadness, and I liked going through that with Sera.
I was sad that we didn’t get more of a true battle in the end, and also wished we could have spent a hair more time with Sera coming back out of the Well. Like — how did they get out?!?Maybe I just needed an epilogue.
Overall this was great and I’m gonna need a few spin off mini books about some of those side characters!
I won't say that this book was bad but it wasn't great either. I mainly just got frustrated because in the first two books the MFC questioned everything. to the point that is pissed off a lot of people, which I thought was great. then the 3rd book hit and it was more about her romance with the MMC than the actual story. not bad, who doesn't love some spice but at one point I got tired of how much spice their was and wanted her to start asking questions again and getting back to the main story. then this book, she didn't ask questions. she wasn't suspicious. she would have a gut feeling and in the next sentence forget all about it. it got SO freaking frustrating. do I think the series as a whole was good. . . I'd give it a 3.8 stars. it was good for the most part but I certainly had my grumps about it haha.

I had this series in my kindle library for quite some time. I thought I’d finally just read it. I am so thankful I did. It’s like Hunger Games, meets Twilight. So much action, love, and emotion. Plenty of spice too. The plot was perfection. I thought for sure it would start to get cheesy, or redundant like other books. It was not. It was completely original. It didn’t seem like any other book I’ve ever read. I don’t even know how this author wrote this. It had so many different things going on at all times. But it worked so well. I couldn’t guess what would happen next, because it was always something I never saw coming. I’ve never read anything from this author before, but I’ll read all of their stuff now. They’ve got a fan for life. Run, do not walk, and get this series read. I might just go back and read through them all again right now.
Wow, just wow. Returning to a world of gods and magical wielding Elyseans, we follow Sera in the final installment of this 4 part story. So much is jam packed into this book and boy is she T H I C K 👁️👄👁️. The only minor thing was how much was packed in at times, I needed to slow down slightly to digest the dump of information given. However I would not have changed it , the story had so much to give and it gave it. There was so many plot twists that I didn’t see coming and left me speechless! The ending was just chefs kiss 😘👌🏻
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read and share my opinion on this series it was truly a wonderful experience and a story I won’t be able to stop thinking about.
I think reading 4 books in a row just tires off a person because they are all very lengthy books.
My issues with this was, that she was afraid and crying . I get it in the first book , but I wanted growth, I wanted her to become strong and confident, not doubting everything STILL. She did in the very end.
Also, I wanted them to be together strong as a couple as they had so much other things going on around them. it was finally resolved in the end tho and throughout the book they were together and Shade was so awesome but just I wanted them to be able to really BE together without h being afraid hurting him.
And no Epilogue, like why 🥲🫠 I wanted to see a glimpse of their ordinary white picket house and how she started house of diamonds.
