I liked the art a lot, but the story felt too rushed for my liking. I appreciate the moral of facing brutal truths to build a stronger future. But the horror elements aren't given any context. Why was the camper there? How did it get there? What did the people who ran the camp know, and how did they know it? How did the camper do what it did, etc? All in all, I thought this was OK, but it left me with a lot of questions.
I love Vault comics and the illustrations are amazing in this one! This is the story of a family going cross country in a RV to go camping. Helene, the wife goes into an abandoned camper that she gets called to. Maya her youngest daughter goes missing and Helene is found by her husband in the camper but acting very strange indeed. The writing is phenomenal in this book and the illustrations are top notch! I loved the story about the family going cross country camping, as that is exactly something my family would do. Also, the relationship in the beginning of the book between Richard and Helene is resonated well with me and my own husband. I loved that part! And that ending definitely leaves the story open to more! I highly recommend this read to all fans of horror graphic novels!
DENIZEN: The Complete Series looks, feels, and plays like a good old-fashioned '80s horror flick. In this story, we have a family on a cross-country road trip, where things take a turn for the worst when mom and wife-to-be Helene succumbs to an evil supernatural force hidden inside an abandoned camping trailer. The gist of the story is that Helene gets possessed by an ancient evil, and her soon-to-be husband, Richard, has to go to great lengths to rescue her.
The pacing is fast for this graphic novel, and I flew right through it within minutes. The plot is nothing new; it's well-written, and the illustrations are mysteriously haunting. Overall, I had a good time reading DENIZEN: The Complete Series. ╌★★★★★
This was an absolutely creepy and emotional horror story. It is a pretty fast read too so you can get a big spook in a short reading session. The team of Andry and Daniel never misses and I love how this story is crafted around the fears that this blended family face, but don’t voice and how the only way to end the horror is to go through it together.
Chris Sheehan’s art is made to scare and creep us out, especially mixed with Jason Wordie’s colors. This art team excels at all things spooky.
Well, this is a little better than similar horror tales. It actually tells a story. There is a place of truth. Ha! Like people actually tell the truth when they meet, or for years afterward. Sometimes the truth comes out in moments of anger, which is not when you want truth. But, there are other ways. A bit of Hitchcock here, and maybe some Twilight Zone or Night Gallery. With just a wee bit more of a kind of horror.
This was a great horror graphic novel! I absolutely loved the art work in this book and how it brought this story to life. This was a very quick read that I found very hard to put down. I really enjoyed this one.
A fanatically spooky horror graphic novel that pulled me in. I loved the premise and the lessons that were taken away from the story. The graphics were great and guaranteed to give you some chills!
Thank you to the authors and Rockstar Tours for an awesome print arc!
👧🏻reviews: I enjoyed this Satanic and paranormal graphic novel. It is dark, mysterious, twisted and goryish. Also I enjoyed the illustrations and the story involved family members in the story. This is a fast, easy and fun read if you’re looking for a quick and engaging read to pass the time.
