I just love graft time with family and friends! This book has things I haven't done but, wanted to try. It's all very simple and I had more craft ideas come in mind while reading it alone! I definitely suggest this to people who like creating things, including food items! Besides, it's free to look through
I enjoyed the book, but I wish it was more focused. Some of the gifts sound cute, but I can't imagine giving those items to someone, or getting some of these as gifts. The DIYs: Tiny Books (cute books, great directions) Cat Book Covers (needle felted cats to felt) Lightning Tshirt (stenciling on a shirt using freezer method) Flower Sticks (paper flower cutouts on sticks) Vanilla-Bean Meringue Kisses (if this tastes good, a great gift) Pink Champagne Cake (if it tastes good, a great gift) Mallow Cones (if it tastes good, a great kids party recipe) Whale Onesie (stenciling on a onesie using freezer method) Temporary Tattoos (inkjet printer & adhesive, sounds fun) Cat Portraits (needle felting with your cat's hair) Animal Cookies (regular sugar cookies shaped as animals) Dog Gadget Sleeve (felt ipod sleeve) Candy Charms (polymer clay made into candy, good directions) Inside-Out Cookie Dough Truffles (basically cake pops) Homemade Vanilla Extract & Vanilla Sugar (um?) Solar System Mobile (balls of wool yarn on strings) Mini Homemade Pop Tarts (recipe) Bottled Potions (this isn't much of a gift unless you like fairies, glitter in tiny water-filled bottles)
Overall, I was disappointed by the variety, usually thats good, but this ebook needed some focus. I don't needle felt so those are 2 wasted ideas for me; freezer paper stenciling should only be listed once maybe plus an alternative; recipes should be in their own gift giving book. I wish this had been separate books with focus per medium, instead of all together. Plus these are not original ideas to the author, they are compiled from other books, while all cited correctly, I found that to be a disappointment. Much of this can be found online for free (stencils, polymer clay, etc).
I enjoyed this book & feel it has several projects to choose from, they are fairly simple & includes something for everyone. I would recommend this book.
I was excited to dive into the Quirk Books D.I.Y. Gift Guide for some fresh gift-making ideas, but it fell a bit flat. The projects are organized by recipient, which is a nice touch, but many felt too simple or unoriginal—like stuff I’ve seen on Pinterest or Instructables. The instructions could use more detail, and some ideas (like cat hair crafts!) were just odd. It’s free, so no harm in checking it out, but don’t expect groundbreaking DIY inspiration.
I have just read through this book which was free. I really like so many of the projects here. Can't wait to try these out...I have a long hair black cat and brush her daily... I will be saving her hair to try out some if the projects. I also am very interested in the recipes, especially the ones using champagne! 😄
Very interesting book Different to other books I have looked at. Would refer this to others Well planned out very good on subjects that you are interested in. I really enjoyed this book thank you to the author of this book . Hopefully there are others like this one . It's a very interesting book to.
Some good gift ideas for adults and kids alike. I have a Harry Potter fan, so those crafty ideas such as the t-shirt and potion bottles will go down a treat.
The food gift ideas are more up my street. Homemade vanilla essence is a must try and looks the biz.
There were some cute ideas in this book and a couple of recipes that I would like to try. Got this one for free, would have been disappointed if I had paid for it.
I wrote this review because I am a geek at heart, and I wanted to some of my hobbies with my friends. This is a really good book for handcrafted gift ideas.
I loved the ideas in this book. They were actually easy and pretty enough to give away. I would recommend this book for crafters and bakers of all levels.
