It's a shame that this series only consists of four volumes. I really enjoyed reading about the different cases and the cursework was explained very well in comparison to other manga series (I'm looking at you, Jujutsu Kaisen), but the ending was abrupt and unsatisfying.

It’s the end of the curse as we know it! Saeyama dodges a bullet but is then set up to fail in a case that seems tailor maid for him. When things turn out to be no idol threat, it’s one more chance to deduce and be smug for somebody who’s very good at both.

Yee haw! Now that’s how you close out a series… unsatisfactorily. Except not. While the actual epilogue is a big old dump of ‘pretty sure that this series got cancelled so here’s all the fun ideas you won’t get to see’, this final volume is just a single giant case of an idiot running rampant again.

And that’s perfect - I have adored every silly, silly volume of this goober series about a jerk and his brain (plus assistant). Those loose ends are flapping in the breeze like mad tendrils of a dead god, but it doesn’t matter because realistically this series could never have stayed this good forever and I’ll take four perfect volumes of this, no notes.

It should go without saying that the combination of maids with idols is so clever that somebody has to have tried it in the real world, but the semi-identical singers of Maid On make for a delicious mystery, even if I had no clue who was named who most of the time anyway.

As usual, it’s the doofy brinkmanship that makes this so fun. Saeyama is such a smug, punchable arse the entire time and that’s why he’s such a brilliantly fun detective. There are plots, counter plots, counters to those counters, etc etc. You can expect every initial reveal to give way to three or more subsequent ones before the whole thing runs aground.

Oh the motives are dumb, waah waah, whatever. It’s a story of obsession and trying to impress a girl, of all things, by killing people, naturally. Curses are flying, office politics and backdoor deals come into play. It’s a real stew.

But it works. The mysteries are curse-derived, but as usual they always, always play fair - each curse has a defined set of rules that it does not change mid-case. Plus, there are enough clues given that you can figure things out if you feel like putting the effort in, or you can just crest the general wave of insanity.

I loved this. It felt like a fair play mystery that was always willing to be zany, but never used that as an excuse to be poorly written in terms of its structure. I’ll read this again sometime and be just as charmed as I was the first time through.

Yeah, that ending’s a bummer, but it definitely delivers in one sense - leaving the reader safe in the knowledge that somebody out there is ready to save us from curses. Probably while smoking a pipe and being a jerk. I wish it could have closed the main storyline off, I truly do, but what I got from this was so good I won’t begrudge it.

5 stars - how do you end a series that stopped ahead of it’s time? By simply doing the same thing it did every volume and just as well. Having a sumptuous last meal of a mystery really softened the blow of the abrupt ending, especially with how good it was.

I wish there was so much more to this series. It's clear this was a case of a story being cut off before it could get fully told - the ending is enough to tell you that. With the reveal of the leader of Cursed Blood and the introduction of two pivotal characters, this felt like a beginning rather than an end.

I am BEGGING for this not to actually be the last of this series you can't cut it off after you just reach the height of the plot?! that's just cruel.

If this was a continuation of a series it would have gotten 5 stars, but as far as endings go this one was pretty unsatisfying. It told the audience who the leader of the Curse Bloods was, but didn’t give us the satisfaction of seeing him get caught. If I was being honest this felt like it should have been in the middle of the series instead of the end. Like, the end of an arc, not the end of the story. In fact, it felt no different than the rest of the series until the plot twist hit, and then…boom story’s over. It felt like the volume was wasting my time which is disappointing considering how much I loved the first three volumes.

Wish there was more than four volumes. This series was so well done! It’s kind of like if Alice in Borderland and Death Note had a baby it would be this series.

Rating for the whole series: 4,5☆/5

Game of death or kill and be killed is how I would describe the main premise of the series.

You know it's great when 2 people are involved in a series. You may have heard people say that if you like Death Note, you'll enjoy Can't Stop Cursing You and there is a truth behind that. Now, do not expect it to be like Death Note because they're very much different in terms of story and characters.

To be completely honest, I didn't know anything about the series before purchasing it (which it's not a great habit of mine, because I have a rule of only purchasing series that I want to own if I had already watched the anime of or if I had read it online first and loved them). But! I'm sometimes lucky and I end up really enjoying what I'm buying. That's exactly what happened with Can't Stop Cursing You, too!

⚠️ Might touch on slight spoilers from here on out! I'll try not to reveal too much.

I very much enjoyed my time with this series and I'm still upset it's only 4 volumes when it should've been longer. It has so much potential. From longer cases, fleshing out our MC to an intense battle of wits with the actual villain of the story. I wish I knew more about the worldbuilding, too. We've been told bits and pieces, but I wanted to know more, especially about our MC. Where did he come from? Does he know his parents ? How did he end up in that facility? What do you need exactly to have to be a Curse Breaker ?

I thought the MC, Saeyama Kiyoharu was quite interesting. He's an oddball & he is quite unhinged for your typical protagonist, but because of how the series is, I think he fits so well. The series would've lost a great asset if the MC would've been different.

Except the MC, the rest of the cast received a fair amount of information you need to know about them. Even the villains introduced throughout the 4 volumes, received enough backstory to understand them better.

Speaking of the villains, I really liked how each volume has a case with different type of villains. They all had different reasons behind their actions, different personalities, and yet they were the same. They all wanted to kill.

I ranted in my stories about the finale of the series, but since I want to keep this review as spoilers free as possible, I'll leave it here.

I personally really enjoy psychological series in general, and I'm really glad I randomly bought the series !

PS: Dear mangakas, I need more of this series, please give us a sequel, a novel or something. 🥺🤧😭😂

Fazit
Eine tolle Reihe.

This volume was the most exciting to me. The ending was disappointing, though. It was painfully obvious (at least to me), that it could've had more chapters. I mean we got revealed who the leader of the cursed blood is, which was a total shock to me, but that's it??? We finally get his identity, but then nothing happens after that? He doesn't get found out? Or are we just supposed to assume that Saeyama will figure him out and will defeat him?

If it weren't for the rushed and disappointing ending, then I would've given this 5 stars. I loved most of the main cast. The anti curse god office, those people were kinda annoying though.

i knew that this series only had four volumes when i first picked it up, but now that i’ve finished this last one, i’m REALLY sad that it’s so short! i find myself unsure how to rate it, since on the one hand, the story keeps getting more and more interesting as it continues, but reaching the end of this volume feels unsatisfying. and that’s mostly because you can tell that it wasn’t originally where it was supposed to end. it feels like the story was just about to ramp up, and widen it’s scope, but for what these volumes are, it’s still a nice experience overall.

The ending was honestly pretty disappointing. There's no resolution with the criminal organization using the curse-killings for their own ends, and the ending just kind of falls flat. There's barely anything revealed about the organization at all for that matter. This really shouldn't have been the last volume, and it could have easily been really good if it kept going, but it ending here suddenly is just disappointing.

Great!

I loved it! I'm sad it's the last volume but its definitely good. The story is good and entertaining. Saeyama is an interesting character. He's mysterious and smart while his assistant is rather slow to the game. He's still young so I hope he learns. Parts of this are gruesome but its not the most horrific of the series. I wish the was more to it but I love it for what it is.

3.75⭐️ This is unfortunately my least favorite of the series.
These four volumes felt like a prequel to a story much larger in scope. The ending of this volume felt rushed in my opinion. It’s a shame the Cursed Blood wasn’t explored more, especially with the reveals we got at the end. I still liked the series overall and it’s rare these days to have short series and I appreciate Can’t stop cursing you for that. I would give the series a 4⭐️

It’s five stars, but the ending feels more like the start of this story. Almost like these four volumes were prequels for the actual story to come. I’m hoping for a spin-off series (or maybe this was the spin-off and the real series is to come?)

Overall, I really enjoyed this shorter story and I’m glad I picked these up randomly. I would love to see this animated as well, this has a lot of potential for some really neat scenes!

It's a rare story that REALLY surprises me with a twist at the end that also completely fits with the story and didn't come out of left field.

This one managed it, and I love it.

It's a real shame this was only four volumes long, there's SO much more story to tell, and the "ending" just raises the stakes and sets things up for a real showdown.

That better not be the end to this story! They need to take down the leader of the bad guys!!!

Honestly, I really like how each curse killing acted differently because you could never expect what would happen!

Definitely got cut off by the publisher, you can tell the mangaka had ideas to keep going with it but it just fell flat. I only rate it 2 stars because I like the characters saeyama-sensei and kenta-kun

Incredibly disappointed that this is the final volume. This volume was good, the mystery was intriguing and I loved the plot twist at the end. But it leaves an unsatisfied feeling with it's ending. Nothing is really solved and the whole story kinda feels pointless.

This manga is just so fun to read! The art style is incredible, the story is so engrossing, I don’t want to stop reading!

My only complaint is that it’s done now!? It left on such a big cliffhanger! There’s so much more we could delve into.

Secretly hoping there will be more.

Yeah that was pretty lacking for me. I enjoyed the part not knowing which girl since they all look so similar but other than that it left me feeling like the author gave up and rushed the ending. It felt very all over the place.

overall series feeling, slight spoilers
series wrapped up very suddenly with no resolution of the Big Bad lurking in the background. i was enjoying the episodic curse mysteries, could've read more, but feeling satisfied enough with the story. short gore series following an occult detective, fun!
