FireNine #4

Who I'm Becoming

Rate this book
The hit FireNine series from New York Times bestselling author Shanora Williams continues...

Montana Delray is the most laid back of the popular rock band, FireNine. He's goofy, charming, blatantly honest, talented, a massive flirt, and extremely handsome. The girls literally throw themselves at him, and he accepts it. He loves the attention. The fame. The parties. His single life. With so many women to choose from, it's not in his nature to chase after just one, but when Lauren Harkin enters his life, that all changes.

Lauren is smart, sexy, confident, and knows exactly how to get under his skin... and although he hates to admit it, he loves it. He wants her in every way possible, but she doesn't want anything to do with him. Famous FireNine rocker, Delray isn't the kind of guy Lauren needs to bring into her life. After having her emotions tampered with repeatedly, she refuses to give into someone who will most likely take her for granted and make things worse. But with much effort and some sexual manipulation, Montana and Lauren come to an agreement neither of them can resist.

As their fling carries on, though, everything intensifies, and once they realize it true fear sets in. Soon they come to the realization that they care for one another more than intended, and they both know caring for someone other than themselves means opening their hearts. The reality they face with each other is totally unexpected and becomes their biggest fear... and neither of them is ready for it.

Just very meh for me. I feel like the characters needed more backstory. I fully didn't know what Lauren did as a job until about 40/45% of the way through.

Montana Delray is one sexy-as-hell bad boy you will not want to miss out on. Who I’m Becoming is the fourth novel in the FireNine series and centers around the completely reckless, fun-loving, and women-obsessed, sometimes asshole, Montana.

I enjoyed Montana’s story SO much because his character was one that you just wanted to see get a happily-ever-after. He’s the one always looking for a good-time and getting to know his character better, as well as seeing the little changes he makes throughout this novel, was one extremely enjoyable ride.

Montana was SEXY AS HELL, funny, inappropriate, but was also an extremely sweet guy when he wanted to be, which I LOVED. I loved his fun-loving personality and how laid-back he was, but how he also had this sexy dominant side to him.

Although Lauren was not my favorite heroine, and her character kind-of pissed me off at times with her jealous moments when they weren’t even dating, I feel like her relationship with Montana worked really well in the end. Her character had a mysterious quality to her which I really enjoyed and holy hell, talk about a character plot twist. I did not think what Lauren was going through was what she was actually going through, so that was something that I really liked about this novel.

Who I’m Becoming also has some okay, a lot of off-the-charts-hot-as-hell scenes! Shanora Williams does not disappoint when it comes to writing some very, very, sexy, chemistry-filled scenes.

Who I’m Becoming is a story about a fling that turns into more, and finding love when you least it expect it, or even want it.

“Love catches us completely off guard and usually it happens to come when the timing seems so wrong, but love, without a doubt, is simply amazing. It can’t be denied or avoided no matter how hard we try to block it out. It just…is. Remember that.”

Who I’m Becoming was an amazing addition to the FireNine series that you will not want to miss! Montana’s story is all-consuming and one hell of a rock n’ roll ride!

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Shanora Williams' works and I've read her novels and loved them all, but this one? I don't. It's not exciting, there's nothing new or something to look forward to.

I breezed through the novel, I skipped a lot and I thought that the story would peak up, it did but it wasn't enough.

Some might enjoy reading this, but I didn't. I gave it two stars instead of 1. ;)

Who I'm Becoming is the fourth book in the Fire Nine series and it is MONTANA'S book!  I fell in love with him in Who He Is and couldn't wait to read his story.  Little did I know that I would have the pleasure of beta reading his book!  The one thing I felt most important was for Shanora to keep true to Montana's character.  So many readers, myself included, loved him most.  To change who he is would be a disservice to his character.  Who is Montana?  Montana is the perpetual rock star/party animal.  He is funny and brazen with a heart of gold.  And that is what you will see in Who I'm Becoming.

Lauren is a new character, however we did read a little about her in Who We Are.  Montana had a little heart to heart with Eliza about the girl he couldn't catch.  That is Lauren and she is the love interest in Montana's book.  He runs into Lauren again backstage at a show and she is obviously upset.  Montana tries to be this hard ass rock star all of the time but he really is a big ol' softie at heart and the urge to help her is overwhelming to him.  His inner turmoil is one of the best parts of this book.  It is really endearing to see him at war with his emotions regarding Lauren.

Oh Montana... a rock star through and through.  He and Lauren are a hot mess!  They are hot and cold. She has secrets and Montana is at war with himself and trying to fight his feelings for this confusing and frustrating girl.

Montana's story is different from our other Fire Nine guys. I think Shanora has done a wonderful job of staying true to Montana.  There is just enough drama and mystery to keep the reader intrigued without being over the top.  The characters from the previous books are of course back and it is always nice catching up with them. They really are a family and are there to support him and give him a swift kick in the rear when necessary.

The only issue with Who I'm Becoming for me was connecting with Lauren.  She is such a mystery and so flighty.  I am not sure what would have made me connect with her more or even if anything else could have been done.  It was just her character.  It all comes together at the end when we learn about her big secret.  So what is Miss Lauren hiding??? Grab Montana's book and find out for yourselves!!

DANG IT!! Well.... I had already drafted my awesome review in my head prior to even starting this book because I was sure that it would be a 5 star. I am sorry to say I can't do that now. I have been super pumped for this one to come out from day one of starting the FireNine series. I LOVE Montana... he has been my favorite of the FireNine guys, so I'm really sad that I have to say anything negative about this. Shanora..... please don't take offense because you, as an author, I absolutely love. I know that is stupid to say because this is your work and anything negative is offensive, but please hear me out and help me understand where I missed on this one. I love the series as a whole and I will read whatever Shanora write no question about it. All in all I will give this a 3 Star for the simple fact that is has a lot of Montana (Love HIM) and the rest of our FireNine guys, but I missed something in the chemistry between Montana and Lauren that stopped me from loving this.

My main hang up with this one was Lauren, nothing more and nothing less. The story was good and turning our play boy into a romantic softy was perfect. I didn't get the attraction between Montana and Lauren. I definitely did not get her AT ALL. There were times when I was thinking MONTANA RUN!!!! RUNN!!!!! RUNNNNN!!!!! Does she have borderline personality disorder? Is she bi-polar? In my head I had someone fierce, independent and commanding getting Montana to settle down or may be a female version of himself that finally made him want the "real" thing. Lauren was not what I envisioned for him. She is moody, immature and at times really annoying. The point in the story when Montana walked out of the conversation with his parents and she rushes out and demands he go hear them out. I was floored... I mean I literally said... I must have read that wrong, that had to be Eliza who said that. Nope it was his girlfriend of 5 minutes telling him he needs to go make up with his "less than present in his life" parents. Um What???? I was thinking, the nerve of this girl. I think by this point anything she did would have bothered me, but I would love someone to give me a different perspective. Share your thoughts with me because I really want to love this one, but I just couldn't get there.

And I'm done with this author.

Between the bizarre fucking description of facial expressions she uses, her flagrant and repetitive typos, now we add lectures on forgiveness for a parent that repeatedly cheated on their spouse and then abandoned them to go off with a lover...and left without a goodbye to the spouse and child. And now 15 years later they're back and expect to be forgiven because they feel pain for what they did.

Fucking bully for you.

Sorry, some people don't deserve forgiveness. They need to deal with the fucked up fallout of their actions. You can let go of YOUR pain and anger towards that person and their actions, but you don't have to forgive. Sometimes the only way the offender can learn a lesson and realize they went too fucking far is to understand they lost you because of their actions and there's no going back.

First, I'm disappointed that Deets does not have a story!

Now onto 'Who I'm Becoming' book four in the 'FireNine' series; Montana's story. Lol, for the first time in this series history... The dude- (Montana this go around) is not the ass holding secrets that can stop their whatevership in it tracks, it's Lauren. Haha haha

Montana is the laid back one in the band. He loves the bitches, craziness, and screaming fans. He is a huge flirt even with his band brothers woman. He is drop dead gorgeous and woman just drop their panties for him. He loves the fame, parties, and attention. He has never had the fancy to settle for one woman.
On the flip side with his friends he is goofy, charming, and a bit to honest at times. But they love him anyway.

Lauren is smart, sexy, confident, and knows she doesn't want a relationship with Montana. However, she is willing to use his body just to feel sexy to herself again. She comes to an agreement with Montana for a no feelings involved fling.

However as soon as they come to the realization that they care for one another more than agreed upon... A massive bomb is dropped. I'm not even talking about Montana speaking into fa fans ear to answer A question in a loud as hell bar either. You can't even blame Montana for walking away. After all he is not his father or his mothers son. He is himself, his own man.

I'm letting you know, you got to catch this one for all the deets. You will be flabbergasted, especially since Montana is the loose one when it comes to sex.

A---(OC---).

Montana is the bass player for FireNine and the sweet speaking, smooth player of the band! He has enjoyed the fame, woman and one night stands that comes along with being in a world famous/touring rock band. But he’s become fascinated with Lauren who is adorable and has a Paris accent. Montana is sure that once he has his night with her that he’ll be satisfied, but one night wasn’t enough. Neither is the week they agreed to spend together. Sparks fly, they’re caught up in one another and once they give in they run into hiccups that threaten their relationship! They story also includes updates on the other band members who we met in books 1-3 and their woman too. A great ending to the FireNine series.

4 to 4.5 stars

I loved being completely out of it, so out of it that everything blurred together. You can't focus, because focusing means facing reality. You can't think because sometimes thinking too much fucks you over in the end. You just...live. And living for myself is what I did best.

Montana Delray...Bassist for the hugely popular band FireNine...He's the fun loving, outgoing, wild party boy who loves women but is never with the same one twice. He wears his colored mohawk and piercings proudly and has a filthy mouth. His friends are all settling down and finding their mates, but he never thinks that will happen to him. But now that they are returning to France for a tour, he realizes he is about to come face to face with the one that turned him down and has kept him guessing since their paths crossed a year ago.

Lauren Harkin has had her shared of heartbreak and now wants to be a bit wild, spontaneous and fun. So surprisingly she is open to a connection this time and they share an incredible night. That ends abruptly leaving no real closure. And not being able to fully get enough even after some struggles, they find themselves involved in a "no strings attached" affair.

"Just promise me it'll only be for fun. Nothing serious. I can't handle that right now."
"I'm Montana Delray. I don't do serious. Fun is my middle name."

But the more time they spend together, the more dangerous it becomes that they will get to know each other more and also like each other even more. It is confusing, scary, and exhilarating at the same time

We were crazy, but the really crazy thing was how we could be crazy together. How we could go crazy on each other. How we would do crazy things like fight and make up, and act like none of it ever happened in only a matter of seconds. The thing between us was crazy, but I loved it. I loved every f***ing moment of it.

But Lauren is exhibiting some serious fears, insecurities, and damage. And she has secrets. And Montana has not had a real relationship in almost a decade. So they are bound to make mistakes and cause some pain.

What happens when two people who don't think they want a relationship suddenly realize they are getting in over their heads? Of course it leads to mistakes, misunderstandings, miscommunication, fear, avoidance, angst, and hurt feelings.

And they both have demons to face that have made them who they are and keep them from becoming who they want to be.

Montana really pulled at my heartstrings. He has always seemed so wild, out of control, and even shallow. But he really does have a good heart under his easygoing party boy veneer that has been damaged by his past. He has insecurities and walls up that have kept him from finding connections.

But Lauren got to him. Maybe because she wasn't easy and challenged him. Maybe because she could see right through him down to his softer core. Maybe it was their intense chemistry. She was strong, sassy, passionate, and caring. And from all that combined, she did what no other woman had been able to do and that was keep his interest and make him want more. I loved this softer side of him that not even he knew he had. And there was an unexpected vulnerability and sensitivity to him.

"...If I'm risking getting...hurt...or if I'm risking having my emotions or even my...heart...in the hands of someone else...I want it to be with you."

But her past deeply affected her and was not going away. And she had her own secrets that could change everything and threatened to ruin it all. What will Montana do when it all comes to the surface? Are they strong enough to face the challenges and truly change? Or will they revert back to their old ways?

I enjoyed more with the guys of FireNine (Gage, Roy, and Deeds) and their significant others. They truly are a family and extremely close. They are there for Montana when he needs an ass kicking or support. This story was a little different from the others in the series just like the characters personalities are so different. It was not as highly angsty and heartbreaking as Gage and Eliza's story, or as dark and emotional as Roy and Kelsey's. It had enough drama and mystery to keep it interesting, but also was true to Montana's usual positive personality and nature. That does not mean that there was no angst or hard situations, but it was not done in a way that was not so long and drawn out that it became terribly frustrating. Montana and Lauren were actually quite mature in a lot of ways which is surprising coming from the ultimate party boy who always loved to be drunk or high and never had a girlfriend. I have loved seeing the change in Mr. Montan Delray throughout this series and his story. And this book brings the whole group together in the present, while also showing how far they have all come since it all began.

Considering these books are pretty short, they felt like they dragged on and on. I wasn't invested in the story and I felt like the conflict was non existent. It was almost like the series needed an ending so the author just threw a story together.

Finally, I was whole.
Finally I'd matured and
become the real me.

Who I'm Becoming was another great story in the FireNine series! This is one of my favorite rock star series. Another great 5 stars from me. Shanora Williams has easily become one of my favorite authors to follow and she pleasantly surprises me all the time with her writing style. This book was just what I needed.. Who wouldn't want to know about the hot rocker bass player Montana Delray??? I have to say when I first started this series I didn't think it could get better each time I read about all the band players and there love lifes but damn if each book just didn't intrigue me more and more. This is told in a dual POV of Montana and Lauren. It does end in an HEA.

Montana is the bass player for the band FireNine and plays by his own 5 simple rules... and he never falters these rules.

1) Get sloppy drunk.
2) Get high as fuck.
3) Mess around with/fuck bitches
4) Pass the fuck out
5) Repeat the following night.
It was a ritual of mine for years. It's what I loved. I loved being completely out of it, so out of it that everything blurred together. You can't focus, because focusing means facing reality. You can't think because sometimes thinking too much fucks you over in the end. You just....live. And living for myself was what I did best.-- MONTANA

Of course he is the typical rock star play boy.. but one woman has always intrigued him and she is the only woman that has every turned him down. That is what he believes intrigues him because she becomes a challenge to him nothing more. But why does he want the chase.. But what will happen when after a year she comes strolling back into his life when he has to go to France for another tour and that is where she lives? When he finally gets what he wants from her why is it not enough... he doesn't understand what is making him crave this woman.. and why one night isn't enough.

Damn... this was insane. I was insane. Obsessing over her pussy. I never felt a need so insatiable. I never needed to fuck somebody so bad off of a few tempting words. Whatever connection we were building--whatever I was feeling-- was fucking dangerous but in that moment I did give one shit.-- MONTANA

Lauren is the back stage manager for FireNines tour. She is currently hiding a secret and this secret isn't something she is willing to share with anyone..it could ruin her..and her career. Because of this secret she can't trust another man ever again... but she is going to try and have some fun for once in her life. The perfect opportunity arises when she meets up again with Montana.. yes she turned him down almost a year ago but she is going to just live a little and spend an amazing night with him and be done. But what happens when one night isn't enough and it turns into her inviting Montana to be with here for a couple weeks when his tour is over.. its just fun right nothing serious....

Why cry over a man as himself? I showered up, and when I got out I realized why I wanted to cry. Because Montana was a good guy. He was sweet, charming, and he gave me more fun than I ever thought possible while in Cali. I didn't think we'd hit it off so well, but we did. We connected in a way. Though the sex was out of this world, it didn't top the bond we created. The constant, mind-blowing sex was just a bonus to whatever we'd molded.-- LAUREN

Just when things seem to be going well with there no strings relationship Montana and Lauren find they do want more.. but insecurities will get the best of both of them and secrets will come to light. Can there relationship withstand this? Can they find out who they need to become to overcome there pasts and insecurities... or is it all to much effort?

I laughed as we headed for the exit. "Funny." And really it was. But knowing that Montana could actually be mine and no one else's made me feel proud. I knew there were plenty of women he could've chosen from, but he chose me. Montant Delray, the FireNine bass player with the wicked smile, perfect hair and perfect piercings, wanted me. -- LAUREN

You all have to pick up this entire series.. it is hot and has so many twists and turns... and who doesn't 4 books about hot rockers??? Thank you Shanora and I looked forward to much more from you!

From the beginning of the Fire Nine series, Montana’s story was the one I wanted to hear. Throughout the first three books, readers get glimpses of the fun loving player who seems to only live for himself and the pleasure he seeks. For the last nine years, Montana has lived free and easy, not looking for anything serious, and why would he when he can have a different flavor each night and then walk away ready for another night of sex, alcohol, and drugs. But underneath his stage persona, there’s a lot more to Montana than he’s willing to allow to surface or for that matter admit to, but perhaps it’s just going to take the right woman to force Montana to become the man he truly is inside. Enter Lauren Harkin – she’s the one woman who didn’t fall for the smooth talking manwhore. She turned him down flat, and ever since then, Montana hasn’t forgot about the fiery red head, and now that the band is headed back to France, he’s going to do everything in his power to finally rid his mind of her by getting Lauren in his bed, or at least that’s his plan.

Montana’s plan to seduce Lauren is actually a lot easier than he thought it would be, which both excites and perplexes him, but when she abruptly leaves without saying goodbye, his desire for her only increases further stumping the man who never needs a second taste. So when Lauren offers a no-strings one week affair, he jumps at the chance – ready to get lost in her body once again. But soon, both find their purely physical, fun relationship crossing lines that neither can admit to wanting, and when it gets to be more than either can handle, they take the cowards way out and run, refusing to give into their true feelings.

Is Lauren the woman to tame Montana’s wildness and make him a one woman guy or will her fears and insecurities force her to walk away from the man who might repair her broken heart? The path to Montana and Lauren’s happily now is riddled with miscommunication, jealousy, and secrets, as well as a heavy dose of denial. The idea of commitment is a huge issue for both of them, so as they work to resolve their concerns, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Overall, I enjoyed Montana and Lauren’s story. I had a hard time at the beginning feeling connected to the characters, but further into the story, it got better. Lauren’s inner turmoil was a bit confusing because readers aren’t privy to her backstory for some time, which made it difficult to connect with her and understand her issues. At the end, though, knowing the secrets she’s keeping, it makes sense to not put them out in the open right away, but the way it was presented made it a slight issue. There’s definitely not as much angst in book four as the other two couples faced, which was a nice change of pace. Each couple is different, facing varying obstacles, so giving Montana and Lauren problems that fit just their personalities works well. Reconnecting with the other members of Fire Nine and their significant others is always an added bonus in a series. They’re a family, and Shanora demonstrates their bond throughout the story.

The Fire Nine series is a definite must read for readers who love bad boy rockers!

“Love, Lauren, is a risk,” she whispered. “Love catches us completely off guard and usually it happens to come when the timing seems so wrong, but love, without a doubt, is simply amazing. It can’t be denied or avoided, no matter how hard we try to block it out. It just…is. Remember that.”
Montana Delray is the bassist for the band FireNine. He’s the one that can always be found partying and hooking up with groupies for fun. He never thought he’d change. He thought he’d always be Montana, the single, partying man-whore.
Enter Lauren Harkin, backstage manager for FireNine. The first few times Montana tried to put the moves on her, she rejected him. Now Montana is interested and he has to have her.
Finally he gets to hook up with her. What starts out as just fun turns into more. It usually does. The two have feelings for each other, and they can’t be ignored. When Lauren’s secret comes out, Montana isn’t just hurt, he’s angry. He never wanted to put his heart out there and the only time he does, it gets crushed.
Will Montana be able to work out his problems with Lauren?
I love the FireNine series. I love all the boys in the band, but my favorite has always been Montana. He’s the punk rock looking dude, with his hair up in a blonde Mohawk with the tips died orange. He’s pretty cool and I was just waiting for some girl to come and knock him off his feet, which is exactly what happened.
Shanora Williams is one of the younger writers that I’ve come across. She started when she was about nineteen, I believe. And she has some serious talent. She knows how to tell a story and capture the reader’s interest.
She also knows how to melt a woman’s panties. The sex scenes in this were HOT. I often found myself squirming as I read, trying to find some relief.
I was not disappointed by this novel. I had been dying for Montana’s story ever since the first book came out. She surpassed all my expectations! Montana is hot, sexy, and so caring. I loved getting to see the romantic, loving side of him. I didn’t know he had it in him.
So, if you love rocker books, then this book is yours. It can be read as a standalone, but I really think you’ll love it more if you read the others first. It starts with Who He Is, which tells the story of the lead singer, Gage Grendel. He’s probably my second favorite.
Five stars for Who I’m Becoming by Shanora Williams! I really hope we get more, because the only story left is Deed’s, the drummer’s. I am in love with FireNine and if they were a real band, I bet you would be able to find their posters all over my wall.

The FireNine Series has to be one of my favorites. Shanora Williams continues to write some amazing stories with every member. I love how they each are so very different, but seem to exhibit the same hearts, ones filled with so much love to give. I had high hopes for Montana Delray! He definitely delivered in every single page. Who I'm Becoming was such a wonderful book to read this was one Summer read I couldn't pass up. I'm so happy to read and get lost in Montana and Lauren's story.

Montana is the member of FireNine is fun and carefree. the band is his life and relationships aren't his thing. He's not used to rejection and the one women who did just that is one he can't forget. Lauren Harkin works for the band and knows exactly what goes on. She knows that relationships are the furthest from their minds. She also knows Montana isn't any different no matter how charming he is. When things seem to be falling a part for Lauren she decides to give into Montana's advances. There are some things you can deny yourself for so long. Lauren needs a distraction and Montana offers her a no strings attached arrangement. So she takes it. but not without consequences. When she gets a taste of Montana will she be willing to walk away? Will Montana be able to let her?

When I first started reading I was pleasantly surprised by the heroine in the story. She was very different from someone you would expect Montana to be with. Then what I thought about Montana went out the door. He was so much more than a pretty and talented face. He was smart, funny, and romantic. Lauren was strong, independent, and a perfect match for Montana. Each one afraid of commitment for very different reasons. But when you meet the one that gives you everything you desire how can you let that go. I loved that Montana had to work for Lauren's affection. He should! Lauren was amazing! Just as amazing as he was. Plus she really got him and cared for him in a way that he needed.

Montana and Lauren were so good together. Almost a shame they didn't get together sooner, but good things come to those who wait. If you love this series as much as I do please don't wait to read Who I'm Becoming. It is the perfect way to end your Summer!

I loved Montana in the other FireNine books! I was so excited when I found out he would have his own book! Of course, I had hoped that his book would live up to the way I had built him up in my mind… and it did!!! You truly can’t help but fall further in love with Montana Delray!

Montana has always been a ladies’ man and never wanted a committed relationship. He never needed to worry about one because he never spent more than one night with a woman. He could also get pretty much any woman he wanted…. Except for one. There was something about the one that turned him down that stuck into his head.

Lauren knew how Montana was and the temptation finally became too much for her. She wanted to experience him…. And experience she did!!!! She invited him to come and spend a week with her and it was ONE HOT WEEK! Although, there was a little crazy mixed in because of emotions. Hot passion became emotions and feelings that neither of them was expecting. It was just supposed to be a week of fun. But, Lauren is hiding a secret….. and my heart broke for Montana when the truth was revealed. He had so many trust issues already that he didn’t/couldn’t figure out how to handle it.

“Something happened to me a week ago. Something I thought I’d never experience a day in my life. My heart broke. It broke into tiny, fragile little pieces.”

I loved how unsure both Lauren and Montana were about their ‘relationship’. I think their insecurities helped them bond and build a stronger foundation. Will their foundation be enough to withstand the truth that comes crashing down at their feet?

The writing was wonderful and the story line didn’t leave you bored. There was enough passion and fun moments to keep you satisfied. Thank you Shanora Williams for letting me fall even more in love with the FireNine boys!

Who I'm becoming is based around Montana from Firenine. In the other books in the series, we see glimpses of this girl who knocks Montana back and he finds this hard to cope with as he is arrogant and cocky and knows that women always fall at his feet but not this girl.

He can't stop thinking about her and he wants her like no other girl. When he meets Lauren again, she invites him to spend two weeks with her.....for some fun! Of course Montana jumps at the chance. They are both on the same page....no commitment, just a bit of fun between friends but do you ever think that works??? NO!! They both start feeling things and to Montana, it is a whole new experience but as you may already know, love is never ever easy and Lauren has a pretty big secret that she has been keeping and she is frightened that if she tells Montana, she will lose.

I loved Montana in the other books as he's the care free, party animal who is always the life and soul of any party and is the last band member to find someone, he could see himself settling down with. I wasn't sure if Lauren was the right one for him at the start of the book as she seemed too naive and sweet but i was shocked that Montana is just as sweet and does have a soft side. I really turned my opinion around and there seemed like the perfect couple even when having to overcome situations especially Lauren's secret. I have really enjoyed reading this series. The only reason i gave this book 4 stars is because i believed Montana forgave Lauren too quickly after her secret is revealed. I just thought he would have reacted badly especially the way he is towards his dad when he appears in his life again but I love all these characters from the series.

Montana Delray lived his life for his band FireNine, getting women in bed, some alcohol and drugs for good measure. No commitments, no relationships. Since the band hit the big time her can have it all. Until Lauren, the one who told him no. Now he wants her, just once to get it out of his system. Then he can move on. When FireNine goes to France for a show he knows he will see her there. She works backstage with the bands. Montana is going to do everything he can to get her in bed, what he didn't count on was Lauren jumping at the chance that first night. Then afterwards her running off. Even though that's how he works. When he is done they leave, but he didn't want Lauren to leave. That's confuses him. Lauren has a secret which makes her blow hot and cold with Montana.

Loved the book. Montana was awesome. Half the time he didn't know why he kept wanting Lauren. She pretty much played his game and he didn't like it. Lauren was pretty strong but without knowing what her secret was until almost the end it was hard to judge why she was doing all she did. their relationship built slowly through out the book. Wasn't one night together and they were in love. Both Montana and Lauren were kicking and screaming the whole way trying to avoid admitting their feelings to themselves or each other. the sexual tension is there, the ups and downs of a relationship with two people who don't want to commit is the main theme. makes you want to yell at the book for them to get it together. It plays out nicely and has an outstanding ending.

Wonderful read for loves of rock stars and romance. Who can resist an orange tipped mohawk bass player.

This is the fourth book in the FireNine series and gives us Montana Delray's story ..... The bassist in the band .... I was so excited to finally get this story...
Montana has always been the player of the band, he loved the single life and hooking up with no girl twice.... He had women throwing themselves at him from all angles so when he encountered Lauren Hirken, she bruised his ego by saying no .....
But also, spiked his interest.... Both broken and scared as each other... They agree to one week of fun only but can they keep the emotions out of their arrangement....
My excitement to finally get Montana's story was huge... so of course I dived right on in but unfortunately for me I felt both Montana and Lauren's characters lacked depth which I needed and I just couldn't connect with them but it didn't stop me enjoying their story because I devoured it in a day but I just didn't love it, like the first three books in the series....
I was taken on a bumpy road has Montana and Lauren fight against each other and themselves to avoid admitting their feelings.... As their battle continues through the book ... I was left hoping they would figure it all out once their secrets came tumbling out....
Could Lauren finally tame the commitment shy Montana???
Could Montana break down Lauren's walls and get her to open up and let him in???
Overall, this is a really enjoyable addition to the this series and I am looking forward to more from this author in the future.

I am so in love with this series! The character are fantastic and the story line had me glued to my tablet. I seriously couldn’t put it down and my have even skipped a meal to finish it.
Montana and Lauren have this chemistry that is instantly there yet neither want to admit that it’s there so the games begin. Montana is a serious partier and man-whore but Lauren does something to him and I think he really does a lot of maturing. They deal with fear of of commitment and insecurities which only makes them feel more real. Their banter was hilarious. Montana is sexy (we’d expect nothing less), sweet, loyal, and oh lord I loved that Mohawk and lip piercing! Lauren, sadly, has had o learn some unfortunate life lessons but its obvious that she came out stronger. She, of course, had insecurities because of her past but all of these things just rounded out her character even more.
The story line was fun, sexy, and intense. I enjoyed the main characters immensely but it was also fun to get to see the other characters as well. The book flowed really well and it was easy to sit and get completely absorbed in the story. I really loved this book and hope there is more coming in the near future. 5 out of 5 stars!

I was given a ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I love these boys and was so very excited for Montanas story. The band is traveling and they arrive in a destination where one woman has gotten away from Montana. He doesn't like being told " no" he enjoys Lauren's chase. Lauren has her own secrets and is running and wants to escape with Montana. The two are highly attracted, but do not want anything serious so decide to be just friends with benefits. Will they be able to keep it strictly as that? or will something more become? will they be able to make it work? you will have to read to find out ;-) There is some secrets and twists. it kept you guessing and interested until the end. Some parts I really loved and some I felt were a bit dragged, especially the start. It started off a little slow for me. But it picked up speed. And these two are hot, I didn`t feel that connection at first, just a sexual one. But it came for me. I really liked these two together and I really liked Lauren. Over all it was a very good addition to the series and I am pretty sure everyone will love Montana as much as I do. Roy will always be my favorite, but Montana comes in close! he is funny and hot and will get those panties melting ;-)

HIGHLY recommend.

Montana, the bassist of FireNine, is the most laid back member of the band. He's a womanizer for sure and Lauren is the girl of the moment he has his sights set on. He met her a year ago and couldn't close the deal. Now that the band is back in Paris, Montana is determined not to fail this time.

Lauren is the stage manager at the venue in Paris. She wasn't emotionally available to handle Montana a year ago but now she's ready to have a no strings attached good time with Montana while he's in her city.

Only they're still not quite satisfied. Lauren invites Montana to stay with her for a week while she has to be in L.A. Things start to get complicated and neither of them want complicated. Especially since Lauren has a deal breaking secret.

Lauren was kind of crazy. I don't know why she didn't just spit out the secret sooner. It was made into a point of conflict when it didn't need to be. This story was underwhelming. It was boring and predictable. No originality. This story was more about Lauren and her journey, not Montana. He was so dull. Not like the Montana from previous books. What happened?! Gage's books were so full of angst. The 'throw my kindle at the wall' kind of angst. This book was snoozesville. Very disappointing.
