Everyone fears orcs and their savage urges.

My time with the Goblin Market has ended. I need to find my mate. So, when I hear about a small town where both humans and monsters live together, I’m determined to go.

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

I love the way a big guy can make me feel warm and safe. Let’s just say I’m a size queen in every way imaginable […]”

This book was cute and different from other paranormal/monster romance books I’ve read. It was perfectly enjoyable, but I also don’t have tons to say about it. It was a bit boring to me, I think. I wasn’t very invested. All the parts were there, I’m just not sure it went anywhere? Might be 100% me though, as I’ve been feeling slumpy lately.

I try to be understanding, especially with new releases, but there were some dire mistakes, editing-wise, which impacted my enjoyment as well. Don’t let that stop from reading it though, as I expect that will be cleaned up eventually.

Wow, I mean. I'm kinda blown away right now. I shouldn't even be giving this book 2⭐, I think.

I'm just gonna start with this

“I gave my info to Maddox, but I think you guys want to find a monster called a Sin Eater, not to confuse it with a human who practices sin cleaning through eating food.”

"According to Rafe, there are at least two registered Sin Eaters in the monster world. These creatures roam the land looking for sins, spirits, and ghosts. They are lonely creatures, and extremely hard to get a hold of."

You don't say. 🤨

"Will the Sin Eater actually eat my ghost?"

No, I’m a Sin Eater, not a Soul Eater.

“What’s the difference?” Maddox asks.
“A Soul Eater collects souls by eating them. Meanwhile, I perform a ritual. Instead of consuming the ghost, I eat and drink the special ingredients that help me communicate with him."

"It’s the curse of a Sin Eater. To travel the world forever looking for a soul willing to be with them. I’ve heard that once a soul chooses the Sin Eater, they will be happy together.”

Why am I saying this?

First, if you're a monster lover you're very much aware of the Monstrous series by Lily Mayne , so basically this whole series appears to be a bad copy of that one.
Soul Eater is one of the most recognisable characters in that series, so if you haven't read it, hop to it.

Second, the world setting is, again, a very underdeveloped bad copy of the merging of the human and monster world where in the Monstrous series that had very bad consequences, and in this series it's a modern background where the border is a military base (😀) and you have to get a visa to cross over to the human world.

Here's a town called Rivenfield - or is it Rivendale?? - where the monsters and humans live together and there's a thing called monsterphobia, so you're an idiot if you are a - monsterphobe. 😄😄😄

🟢 A human/monster world
🟣 A kpop twink/orc
🔵 Size difference
🟡 Size queen (preparing for a week so he could take the orc dick)
🟢 Age gap 24/50 (approximately)
🟠 Primal play but it's not hot, because the MMCs weren't that hot together
🟡 Fated mates - I usually like it, but I couldn't feel it here
🟣 Silly plot - ghost lurking for years in the background that Sin Eater takes care of in the end 😄
🌶️ Some sex, not nearly enough for an Orc; quite good, but I wasn't feeling it; t/b

Dani, the inventor of the Monster Match app and Maddox, the Orc looking for his fated mate, were completely bland for a human/monster couple.

Dani was supposed to be a glamed up kpop hottie with rainbow hair and feminine clothes and Maddox a big, buff guy in tight jeans and a nice ass and yeah, it's a good visual, but the love story they were experiencing wasn't as palatable.

The plot itself was weirdly put together. The ghost that was haunting Dani was a complete nightmare supposedly, but then for the center part of the story the ghost has no page time. Even with Dani's powerful friends, he makes no initiative to at least talk to the ghost and see what it wants.
Nothing.

Maddox was Dani's hook-up who was then hired as his bodyguard and these two were first going on a date, then they hooked up, then they got into a professional relationship that involved them basically living together.
After hooking up they had weeks of pause, then they're kinda boyfriends but not, no sex for the majority of the story until they finally figure out they're fated mates and then the primal play is inserted.

So, blah.

🟣 The romance is also blooming and it's literal fireworks, I tell you .

"He tastes like the delicious cheese and sautéed veggies, and I remember my half- eaten food on my abandoned plate."

Damn, I've never heard that one before!! 😆

“Gods, little human. Listen to you. The way you bite me, go on, bite harder. Mark me. Keep making those little animal noises. Yes, love. Harder. You really are into primal play, aren’t you?”

Une passion extraordinaire.

"Skarr’s eyes pop wide, “Oh shit, boss man, you are totally giving off ‘touch him and die’ vibes.” Skarr takes two steps away from Dani, his hands up in the universal ‘I surrender’ sign."

"Maddox looms over me with that heated predator gaze that turns me on."

"Dani: I want us to do a primal play scene where you chase me.
Maddox: Fuck. Now I'm hard in my office. Dani, I'm afraid I might be too rough. Orcs aren't exactly delicate."

My god, cringeeeee! What are you describing, a textbook?? This seems so formulaic, like the author had written notes somewhere as to what exactly they should put into the story to make it right.

Absolutely no magic between Dani and Maddox and what the hell were they doing anyway? A complete mess of their budding relationship, that's what they were doing.
Even meeting the parents was cringe.
Dani's mom hugs Maddox and welcomes him into the family and then Dani says

“Mom, get off my boyfriend. He doesn’t need you groping him.”

What??

And this is what I don't get. How can a monster romance be this uninteresting? This was almost terrible! Toning down the dialogues and interactions into some censored relationship dynamic from the 1950's and the plot that just didn't make any kind of sense.
Stating the scenes that the MMCs were going to make together, nothing felt spontaneous and the main characters completely botched having a shitty story that did no justice to that cute cover.

In all honesty even if the Sin Eater aka Silk is kind of a rip-off, that one paragraph of him and the ghost Jeremiah was the only authentic, interesting part of this book.

Jeremiah has the option to walk over to the other dimension and leave this one or pick the Sin Eater and walk around the world with him. Nobody ever picks Silk, so - Jeremiah picks him.

"Silk walks forward in a daze, tears spilling over his eyes. “You… You chose me?”
Jeremiah rushes forward, no longer looking like a creepy shadow, but now resembling the man I saw in all the photos and newspaper articles. As Jeremiah smiles down at a now silently sobbing Silk, I have to take a deep breath. Then Jeremiah wraps his arms around the tiny Sin Eater."

Now THAT is something I'd gladly read about! Where is that story?? Nowhere.

A MM monster romance with a dating app, Orc/human, an age gap (~20yrs) & a haunting! It's cute, fun, slightly emotional and was enjoyable way to spend my time 😁. I loved Dani & Maddox, devoured my #ARC in 4hrs! The covers for this series looks absolutely gorgeous.

An Orc looking for his mate. A human looking for protection. A dating app that matches them. All in a small town where Monsters & Humans live together!

The setting for the series is interesting, loved the Seven cameo 😍.

Maddox, the orc, is big, protective, possessive & adorable. Dani, the human creator of Monster Match app, is passionate, sweet & sassy. He's also half Filipino / half Korean, & being haunted 😅.

Their relationship builds good, chemistry is hot. The fake dating/bodyguard bit was fun & a pleasant surprise lol. That stalker gave this a horror vibe omg (but it's handled efficiently). I LOVED that M went on D's pace 🥺❤️. The primal play 🥵🔥. Nox & other side characters are great!

My only qualm, I wanted to see their mating bite too (bonus scene please?). RTC. Excited for this series!

Welcome to Monster Match! The dating app for monsters and humans alike! What a great way to have an interspecies world of bringing them together, showing change make time but if your open to it beautiful things can come your way.
Another great read from Kota Quinn! Love the way this world has developed and how Madddox ink has healing properties when inked into the skin of magical and non magical creatures. dani created the Monsters Match app yet has been afraid to try it for himself after a bad breakup. Always have been a fan of fated mates when they have to work for it and prove their love prior to completing their mating bond. What a sweet, low angst beautiful read.
This world has so many different interesting monsters and can not wait to read more from this combined universe+

Trigger warnings for stalking/paranormal activity, fear of dark, primal play, etc. This was a cute read overall but definitely had some steamy/intense parts as well. Maddox (Madds) was a pansexual orc who left everything behind 10 years ago to find his human fated mate. He had been searching for so long that when he found Dani, you couldn’t help but root for him. Since Dani was human, he didn’t initially feel the same kind of bond/pull as his orc. But even without that, he was pretty smitten.

Throughout the entire book, we have known that Dani has a stalker and we slowly found out it was a ghost who has been following him for 3 years. That point gets resolved in a pretty sweet way. Dani was the creator of Monster Match, who we heard about in the first book but never actually saw. I did like his character as well although my heart belonged to Maddox. I loved how he was creative and while he could definitely be possessive/jealous at times because of the mating bond, he was mostly just a big teddy bear. He catered to Dani and also had a big creative side (painting, tattoo artist, etc.).

Nox was a fun side character and I’m pretty sure he’s going to be a main character in another book in the series based on cover art I’ve seen. I would have liked to see a little more of other side characters like Maddox’s employees, friends, etc. We only saw Dani’s mother once and his sister a handful of times. This was an age gap (20 years), fated mates, size difference book with a few instances of primal play due to both parties liking that. I’d probably give this 3.5-4 out of 5 stars. I wish we would have gotten a little more of them embracing their mate bond and it would have been cool if Maddox could see his family again.

Maddox (Madds): 44, orc, pansexual
Dani: 24, bisexual, half Filipino, half Korean, dad died when he was young, stalker (ghost) has been following him for 3 years

“Maddox crashes his mouth to mine. I whimper at the feel of his broad chest pressing against me, like a solid presence keeping me in place. His tongue licks at the seam of my lips and I part for him. He groans when I take the moment to grind against his thigh.”

Dating app, fake dating and monster romance… this seriously ticks so many of my boxes! Firstly I need to mention how excited I was to see Maddox again and take this journey with him to find his mate. We first meet Maddox as a side character in The Ringmaster and I was smitten even then. A big sexy Orc that risks everything to find his fated mate..: precious. He is fierce and loyal and quite frankly I have a bit of a crush.

Enter his fated Mate Dani. Clearly gorgeous (you saw that cover right!) but is equally hilarious, smart and brave. He also has a secret that kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out. They are absolute fire together between their on page chemistry and their love of Primal Play.

This is the second instalment in the Monster Match series. I was so excited to see a cameo from book one and ecstatic to see who book three is about as we meet him in His Primal Kiss. I’m coming for you Nox! ♥️

His Primal Kiss is part of the multi author Monster Match series. Each book is a standalone story but why not enjoy the whole series. I couldn't put this book down once I started because I had to see what would happen between these two wondering guys. This is the story of Maddox an orc looking for his human mate and Dani a human who created and is the face of the monster match dating app. Dani is being stalked and decides to use the app to find romance and a monster who can protect him. We first met Maddox in the Black Cat Circus series story The Ringmaster. I wanted to see Maddox have his own story and find love. This was such a sweet story. I love both Dani and Maddox, they are so perfect for each other. I enjoyed the supernatural stalker plot too. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

But why was this so cute though??🥺

It was messy as hell, but so cute and sweet! The whole Sin Eater thing? You didn’t have to give us that, but you did.

I absolutely loved this book. It was a massive pile of fluff that my fluff goblin self is now hoarding close to my sappy black heart.

The mechanics…ehh. They weren’t good. But it’s okay, and I would happily read it again. And after two books that I absolutely adored, I feel like this series is gonna give me lots of the good-good.

4/5! Seriously, I think this was just the cutest, and I love the world that’s being created more and more, along with the cast of characters. It’s feeding my soul.

I need more!

I accidentally read Nightmare For Hire, and loved it, so figured I’d read everything in order and fell even more in love with these characters! I absolutely loved Dani and Maddox with how they dealt with every issue they had (mostly Maddox being super patient and understanding). Can’t wait to finish the series!!

3.5⭐️

His Primal Kiss is sweet monster fun with adorable characters who have good chemistry. Dani originally envisioned Monster Match as an app to provide humans protection from other creatures. He’s had a ghost stalking him from the shadows for years and is in desperate need of help, but he could only get financial backing if he made it a dating app.

He keeps the ghost and his fear of the dark away by hopping from bed to bed, but now that he’s back home, he’d like to find a permanent solution. When he pairs with Maddox on Monster Match, they hit it off, but Dani’s afraid to trust anyone so offers Maddox a role as his bodyguard instead.

Maddox thought their chemistry would lead to romance, but he’s willing to do anything to protect his mate so agrees. Suggesting they fake date, the pair get closer and increases Maddox’s desire to claim not just his fated but the warm-hearted and high-spirited man. Dani wants Maddox desperately too. The orc is everything he ever wanted, but he has trouble getting out of his own way.

Dani’s predicament and solution are interesting and the cast of characters colorful and fun as the cross-overs and appearances of the many characters from the other books in the series aren’t distracting. The world building in non-existent, but it’s easily addressed and dismissed since Maddox comes from a dimension that’s basically earth; plus, that’s not an important element in this book nor probably the series.

However, I was distracted by why Maddox seems unable to ever visit his village or found family in the goblin market ever again. The monster realm he enters from his own dimension seems to be a general access point for entrance into the human realm, and he can go back and forth between them but not back to his dimension? Also, magic. There’s no magical equivalent to email? Snail mail? That being said, it’s a quick, sweet read.

This book is part of the multi-author Monster Match series and each book is a standalone. This is the first book in the series that I have read and I absolutely loved it! This is also my first book by this author and it won't be the last. Usually I am not a huge monster fan but I really liked the premise for this series; so I took a chance. And boy did it pay off! This is the story of Maddox and Dani. Maddox is on the hunt for his fated mate. He has left all of his family and friends behind in this search. Maddox is an Orc and a tattooist. He uses magical ink to help those will ailments and sickness. He uses his natural Orc ability to transfer magic into the ink. He signs up with the Monster Match app to find his love. Dani has just returned to his hometown and is resettling. He is the brainchild and poster boy for the Monster Match dating app. But he has a problem with a ghost who won't leave him alone. Wanting to feel safe, he agrees to meet his own match - Maddox. This is their story. I liked how the two of them got to know each other through texts before really meeting. I also loved Dani's new best friend - Nox. He helped make it fun to read. I especially enjoyed the unexpected romance at the end of the book. I liked how Dani cared what happened to his ghost. This is a fun book to read. I really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more books in this series. As well as future books by this author.

I received an advance review copy for free from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I first got introduced to Kota's writing last year when she wrote a book that's a part of my favorite series of all time! That series being The Black Cat Circus, which got referenced to in this book, along with Seven making an appearance, which I loved!! I really appreciated that we got to know Maddox's story and what brought him to travel with the Goblin Market. I also absolutely loved all the references to the Circus series, it made me so happy seeing it mentioned!

As far as the writing goes, I thought this was written fabulously!! The pacing was excellent and had such a slow burn, that I wasn't expecting but worked really well for these characters. Dani's character is fantastic, he's so open and comfortable with other beings that other humans disgrace, but not him. He works with different species quite often so his relationship with Maddox was so sweet because he didn't even bat an eye about Maddox being an Orc. I loved his acceptance of different creatures, his joyfulness just radiated throughout the story.

Nox's character is such a delight! I can't wait to read his story, his personality is just so bubbly and bright, and he's so curious about the world, he's so cute!

I want to also talk about the ghost's character, how things ended with him I thought was so sweet! I hope he gets his happy ending after being a ghost for so long.

Overall a fantastic story, and I can't wait to read more by this author!

His Primal Kiss
Monster Match
By Kota Quinn
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice:🌶🌶🌶🌶

Where do I start? I loved this pairing, not only because Maddox was a character in Black Cat Circus, but for the chemistry between these two.
Maddox and Dani were perfection!!! Maddox has left his home, twice, to find his fated mate and poor Dani just wants to feel safe from the being stalking his life. When they meet each other for the first time thanks to, Monster Match, a monster/human dating app, the sparks are there immediately. I love Kota’s ability to have a spicy scene early on and still get those slow burn vibes.

Maddox was the perfect blend of strong, protective, and broken in the search for his fated mate. I loved seeing him again after Black Cat Circus, if you haven’t read them do it now!

Dani was a little sweetie pie too! I wish there was a throat punch scene between him and his ex!

The spicy scenes were so intense and were not over used, they were placed throughout the book at a very organic pace. They never seemed forced and never became repetitive.

I love Kota’s character building, they are always multi dimensional and illicit strong pulls of emotion, His Primal Kiss is no exception.

I’m off to see what Nox gets into in Nightmare for Hire!!

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion. All opinions contained in my review are my own.

What I like about these two they found each other on a dating app, and they have so much in common as well. The other thing that I like about these you are they want to take everything slow so they can build up the relationship with trust and connection so it doesn’t feel like they’re using one another. What I like about Maddox character is he is great at holding back on what he wants because he doesn’t want things to go super fast with his relationship with Dani. I also like Maddox character is that he traveled from his home village into the human world to find his fated mate. Dani character is amazing because he created an app for monsters of fine love in the human world. But I also like about his characters that he’s a bright, happy person you can see on the way he styles himself in the way he acts around people, but he has trust issues because of what happened in his past with his ex. Dani and Maddox have a relationship that is a bodyguard right now, but you see them going into a more romantic relationship. Because they want to build up the trust so Dani doesn’t feel like he’s using Maddox for his protection, and that he actually wants a really relationship with him. I am also so happy that they both found happiness with each other. I’m happy that they found each other because they both needed someone to love because of everything that’s happened in their lives and everything that took to make them come to this point in life.

3.8 stars...almost 4.

Warning. Incomming mini rant.

I really loved this book. I read almost all of it in one night staying up till 2am.

Until about 70%

I felt a lot of things were lacking. Some descriptions and movement...I felt there were some missed opportunities as well.

Ex: I realized after I read it that I have no idea what kind of tattoos Maddox does. What they look like. If they are just symbols or pictures?
I loved the idea of healing tats but wanted more detail about it.

The texting...it was just lines of text. No movement no feelings. No internal thinks. It could have been either pov.

I also missed out on the initial meeting over the app! And I was so upset I didn't get to see the mating bite. Felt like a lot of buildup for nothing("you'll feel better when the bind is complete" was said a lot and I was left feeling unsatisfied).

Dani's ghost. I fully expected it to be a real issue other than it just touching Dani and scaring him(I got chills the first time the ghost touches is face! That was done so well I was freaked out).
Then, I thought it would have some deeper meaning. Possibly his father watching over him but...no.

All that said. They were a cute pair and their romance sweet.

Oh my word! I’m a huge fan of Kota Quinn. This story is absolutely fantastic! I am such a huge believer in found families and this book has that theme in it. I love that we got to see Morganna, Severn, and Indy again even if it was only briefly. Those easter eggs and the others placed in the book are always so much fun to me.

Maddox and Dani are fated mates. Dani is back in his hometown of Rivenfield, moving into a new apartment, with a ghost stalker. He’s nervous and jittery and lives next door to a Nightmare named Nox. Only Nox isn’t a scary Nightmare, regardless of the neighborhood gossip, he’s fun and talkative and potentially a great friend. Maddox is an orc, who keeping with his time at the Goblin Market, is still a tattooist. Now, he uses his magic ink to tattoo healing designs on people and monsters alike.

When they meet on Monster Match, Dani is looking more for a bodyguard than anything else. Both Dani and Maddox click though. They go out for coffee, talk about everything under the sun, and then head home together. But Dani doesn’t stick around and Maddox’s tattoos think he was rejected.

This book had me in all the feels. A lonely Ghost and Sin Eater, Nova and Franky, and Nox. I love that Maddox found his mate after so long. When Orlocke talks to Dani, Daisy, and Nox, tells them how special the mate bond between Dani and Maddox is, I felt the romance, the beauty in the words. When the Sin Eater talks about roaming the world looking for a soul willing to be with them, oh my heart. I can’t wait for the rest of the series to be out. I am love with His Primal Kiss and Threading Carefully. I have high hopes for the rest of the books.

Maddox has been searching for his mate for ten years. He comes to the human realm to see if he can find him faster. He sees a billboard announcement with a sexy human and is immediately attracted to him. He signs up with the dating app and soon has a hit.

Danilo designed an app for monsters to be bodyguards to humans. His backers didn't feel it would be profitable so it was changed to a dating app. When he meets Maddox he signs up with a profile hoping to match with him. It doesn't take these two long before they're matched, talking and meeting up. What was supposed to be a hook-up/bodyguard night turns into something entirely different.

This is a low drama Fantasy, Romance with a little Mystery too. It is very well written that it had me hooked from page one. I loved the story. There is good world and character building. The side characters are awesome. I felt like Madds and Dani had really good chemistry. I really want to read stories about Nox, the Ghost and Skarr. I definitely recommend this book.

His Primal Kiss - Fake, Not So Fake Romance

‘He laps at the raw spot for a moment, as if shocked he just marked me, then he bites me again. Pleasure slams into me and I lose control. My body shoves flush against his, and I grasp his chin between my fingers, yanking his lips to mine. The kiss is primal. It’s pure lust and need and desperation.’

As part of the multi-author MM Monster Romance series, Kota Quinn invites us into Dani’s world of longing and fear. His Primal Kiss envelops is in Dani’s fear of a dark creature who is following him after an ex sets him up. His fear of the dark only changes once Maddox comes into his world.

Maddox is a kind, tattooer who provides magical medical assistance to those in need. He has been provided a peek into his future by a seer, so he adventures into the Goblin Market and the Human Realm in the hopes of find ing his true mate.

I loved reading Dani and Maddox’s delightful story of romance, and especially meeting side characters that rounded out this eclectic found family. Looking forward to reading all of the books in this series!

This was the first book in this multi-author series that I read and I loved everything about it. A cute, fluffy, sexy monster romance was exactly what I needed.
I love the premise of the series and this book specifically.
Maddox and Dani were so perfect. Maddox is searching for his fated mate and was told his mate was human. What better way to find his mate than a monster-human dating app?
Dani was the brilliant mind behind the app, and I love his support and advocacy for monsters as they were introduced to the human world.
Dani is fierce even as he is haunted by something that makes him fear the dark. Enter his match, a big orc, who agrees to protect him.
These two were megnetic, so drawn to each other, and so good together. I absolutely adored them, and wow...hot too! Love that Dani not only caters to Maddox's primal needs, but lives for it.
Add in the adorable new bestie Nightmare, Nox, and this book was full of amazing characters in a really fun world. I can't wait to read more of this series

Honestly, I jumped between 3-4 stars on this one, there are parts I absolutely loved. So, I gave it a 4. The story intrigued me and I loved the world the author built. My dislikes? I expected more of the primal play. And some of the scenes the author gave us could have been cut and we could have seen more important stuff instead of being told about it. I was expecting this to revolve around the stalker and Dani needing protection but at times it took a complete backseat…maybe even the trunk. Especially after he hires Maddox. This story also left me with questions, I wanted more details, more info on the mating tattoos. But these two guys were sweet together. I enjoyed them. I enjoyed their love story. It just didn’t hit my expectations. There was a scene in chapter 20 that brought tears to my eyes, so bravo author. In the end, I did enjoy the story, I was thoroughly entertained.
