Trigger warnings for stalking/paranormal activity, fear of dark, primal play, etc. This was a cute read overall but definitely had some steamy/intense parts as well. Maddox (Madds) was a pansexual orc who left everything behind 10 years ago to find his human fated mate. He had been searching for so long that when he found Dani, you couldn’t help but root for him. Since Dani was human, he didn’t initially feel the same kind of bond/pull as his orc. But even without that, he was pretty smitten.
Throughout the entire book, we have known that Dani has a stalker and we slowly found out it was a ghost who has been following him for 3 years. That point gets resolved in a pretty sweet way. Dani was the creator of Monster Match, who we heard about in the first book but never actually saw. I did like his character as well although my heart belonged to Maddox. I loved how he was creative and while he could definitely be possessive/jealous at times because of the mating bond, he was mostly just a big teddy bear. He catered to Dani and also had a big creative side (painting, tattoo artist, etc.).
Nox was a fun side character and I’m pretty sure he’s going to be a main character in another book in the series based on cover art I’ve seen. I would have liked to see a little more of other side characters like Maddox’s employees, friends, etc. We only saw Dani’s mother once and his sister a handful of times. This was an age gap (20 years), fated mates, size difference book with a few instances of primal play due to both parties liking that. I’d probably give this 3.5-4 out of 5 stars. I wish we would have gotten a little more of them embracing their mate bond and it would have been cool if Maddox could see his family again.
Maddox (Madds): 44, orc, pansexual
Dani: 24, bisexual, half Filipino, half Korean, dad died when he was young, stalker (ghost) has been following him for 3 years
