The world has it that the legendary Diver, the Dark Master himself, is looking for an apprentice. Follow Spartan, a young fighter with a unique chain weapon and the ability to manipulate gravity, on his adventures in the Academy of Martial Arts and unique powers.
For Spartan, a young boy left alone at an early age, survival was everything. So, he gathered a group of friends to protect each other and make life on the streets easier. However, after some time, he decided to pursue a greater goal that would lead him away from his home and companions.
He wanted to set out into the world and find his long-lost parents.
But this isn't the world we are used to. It's a world from the near future where a mysterious Pit opened up in the central mainland. From it crawled out waves of demons, magical anomalies and cataclysms that shook the world. It was the downfall of civilization as we knew it. But from the destruction arose a chance for change.
The Pit contains special gems that grant magical abilities. And so, fifty years after the Pit first opened, people whose power surpassed even that of the biggest nations have changed the world.
The Legendary Diver, Tekken the Night Demon, is taking on an apprentice!
Could Spartan be the man he is looking for?
Step into a world of not so distant future, broken by the appearance of monsters, magic, and a huge Pit. See what it takes to become a Shinobi!
What to Danger, excitement, and action in a broken world of tomorrow where mysterious gems grant powers to brave and strong souls. Survival in the cruel and merciless world. Slow and methodical world building. A young hero who will have to fight for his own place in a crumbling world. He will save the world or fall deeper into its grim shadow.
A lot of the world building and brutality wasn’t my cup of tea so I gave 4 stars instead of 5. That said, the author did an excellent job of making it clear what type of story this was from the gate and I do like the characters.
Note to the Author: The second word of your book blurb is misspelled/typo. World instead of word. It was correct in the book itself where that was repeated, just the book description had the typo. Sorry to not give five stars, the writing quality is there, just not as big of fan of the setting and world in this one. I love the Alchemist story though! Thanks!
This book started out really good, but then it turned into some weird training academy thing that made little sense and took most of the book. For some reason, the main baddies in the book were labeled "witches and warlocks" even though they were more like vampires or blood cultivators.
