It's now November in Heather Creek and Charlotte is realizing how tight it will be at Christmas this year. Christopher wants a $149,99 weather station, Sam a car. Emily wants to bring about a healthier cafeteria menu. Charlotte and her friends Hannah and Melody, go to a cooking show with a very popular host. This leads to them encouraging Charlotte to start baking her fabulous pies for the diner. It is a way to make extra money and she agrees to it but just up to Thanksgiving. This grows and grows. The kids are called on to help from the beginning-to teach the value of earning and family traditions. Christopher has been asked to tutor the new kid in math, Dylan has tics and spasms so Christopher is unsure. He does it and they become friends. When the two boys have an accident Christopher feels responsible. The three surprise Charlotte and Bob by what they chose to do without being asked. Homespun Harvest by Robert Elmer ends in a very positive way. It is as enjoyable as the other three. Charlotte and Bob are raising their grandchildren and they want them to be good people. The town shows it's Christian beliefs to the new family. Easy but good read.

It is almost Thanksgiving and Charlotte is feeling very overwhelmed with the 3 extra mouths to feed so when her friend talks her into selling her homemade pies she is looking forward to the extra money. She also thinks it will make her grandchildren work as a team The kids aren’t that interested but do want money. The oldest Sam finally gets his driver’s license and is going to deliver the pies, but he also takes another delivery job so things are always behind. The kids don’t have time to do the farm chores and their grandfather and uncle can’t keep up. It does make you wonder how they got it all done before the kids got there. Anyway the youngest Christopher drives the tractor and over turns it on top of his friend who doesn’t have health insurance and it teaches them the idea of helping others.

4th book in the Home to Heather Creek Series and I am anxious to read on to see how their Christmas holiday goes. It's wonderful to read about a town pulling together to help a family who didn't grow up in their small town. So many times, when you're a transplant, those who've lived their whole lives in a town tend to not welcome you. Sometimes, I wish I lived in the stories I read.

These books just keep getting better. I really enjoy reading about how Charlotte keeps her family together while raising her grandchildren due to the death of her daughter their mother, and all the issues that entails, while also helping on the family farm in Nebraska. Can't wait to read the next one.

Title: HOMESPUN HARVEST
Author: Robert Elmer
Publisher: Guidepost Books
2008
Genre: Inspirational/women’s fiction

Thanksgiving is drawing near, and Charlotte is beginning to feel the pinch. The kids all want things Bob and Charlotte can’t afford for Christmas, so when Charlotte’s friend suggests that they go into the pie making business for Charlotte’s famous pies, Charlotte is quick to agree. It’d be good for the kids to learn some skills working together.

But things quickly escalate out of control, when Charlotte finds out that she has to have a separate kitchen for baking commercially. But not only that—but when the orders have already started piling in, and a news reporter says she’s going to be in the area and wants to spotlight Charlotte’s pies.

When a tragedy threatens to ruin the holidays, will they be able to rally enough to celebrate?

HOMESPUN HARVEST is one of the books in the Home to Heather Creek series. I read almost all the books in this series (not necessarily in order) and enjoyed every single one. I have to really admire how the different authors managed to give the characters the same voice, and keep up with the story line in this continuing series.

Even though I read the books out of order, I had no problem catching up with what was happening and to get into the story. Fans will probably want to read them all the way through, but with Thanksgiving quickly approaching, then HOMESPUN HARVEST will be an excellent book to put you into the holiday spirit. Available from Guidepost Books at www.guidepost.com, or at www.amazon.com. 262 pages.

Christopher wants an expensive gift for Christmas and Sam wants an expensive vehicle. Charlotte's friends Hannah and Melody suggest that Charlotte bake pies to sell at Mel's Place for extra income.

Emily's on a crusade for better eating at school.

Charlotte picks the bank of all places, and while opening up accounts with Christopher and Emily, to spring tithing on them. Emily asks "You're joking, right?"

Emily, Sam, and Christopher are busy helping Charlotte bake and deliver pies but the chores go undone by them. Charlotte is so busy she misses what Christopher is up to. This pie-baking business is distracting her from other things as well, even so far as writing down a grocery list of pie-baking items she'll need at the grocery store, during the Sunday preaching.

There's an ambulance and someone ends up in the hospital.

This one - book 4 in the series, seemed rather disjointed, and at times, it was as though some of the characters weren't quite themselves, if that can be possible in a book. :D

read the same day as Before Dawn, they're Christian books from Guideposts.
apparently there is a series called Home to Heather Creek.... the second book begins right in step with the first, and even though each book is separately authored, the style and story is a good read. not too difficult to distract from the plot. the usual teen angst, the small town society, a very comfortable read.

Book 4...like checking in with family

This is the 4th book of the Home to Heather Creek series that follows The Stevenson family. I'm hooked! I can't wait to see what this family is up to! I love them!
