That Girl Is Poison is a book about a 13 year old girl named Desire from Boston who gets raped, has HIV,Pregnant, and lives a very difficult and sad life.Desire's mother abandoned her at the age of 13 to go live with a man who doesn't want children so her Uncle Frank decides to take her in. As Desire live at the house with her uncle, his wife Linda abuses and beat on her for no reason, but because Desire respect and admire her uncle so much she has no choice but to let it happen and not fight back. She meets a guy name Malik that she has been warned about not to tell anyone, so she holds all the pain inside. As she enter school she meets a guy that begins to be her best friend She begins to mess with a guy that her best friend always warned her about, but desire begins to fall in love with a 18 year old guy and be so naive and listens to everything he says. She begins to realize he's no good when he first gives her syphilis, turns around and give her HIV and gets her pregnant and leaves her on her own. By her going through so much hell in her life, she begins to spread her disease purposely to get revenge on the people who did her wrong in the past and also innocent people. Reading this book should give our young females in the world a wake up call. Desire was a 13 year old girl going through things you wouldn't even imagine. She was on the streets and stripping for money to survive. As i read along and got finished with the book i actually wondered if there is someone with the same life as her's, and sadly there is no happy ending to this story.

OMG this whole thing is crazy. The way it's written definitely seems like this terrible roller coaster of a story could be real, but boy oh boy is it depressing. Desire is kicked standing and lying down and she makes terrible decisions on top of the terrible treatment she experiences. Ooooh wee. I don't even know what else to say about this book except that I'll be reading more books by this author...after I have a drink. LOL

Mehn! Where do I even begin? Desire was so stupid but yet I still felt sorry for her. She was a confused, sick, attention seeking young lady who had a messed up life yet that didn't give her the right to play God and ruin people's lives as well. Great book but very sad.

Very touching life learning story. OMG I kept forgetting how old the main character was. So many problems. Had to think back to my teenage years. They were nothing like hers. She lived two grown people lives.

While this book is tragic, I have to say that the extend of Desire's actions were just too much...

The story was full of drama as the synopsis stated. You were hit with so much that you couldn't catch your breath. The narrator, Tania Romulus, was perfect. The story moved quickly. Almost a little quickly, as there were times that the timeline seemed a bit fluid, and sometimes the reactions or actions by young Desire didn't make sense. It goes without saying the characters were all interesting, even those I came to despise. I kept waiting for the demise of a certain mother figure. This was overwhelming at times, but all in all a solid listen.

ARE YOU SERIOUS !!! I cannot believe I manged to get through this tangle of web called"ThAt GirL Is PoISon"the book was just all over the place, some situations did not seem real , and others felt rushed What happened to Desire was NOT RIGHT!!!! I also don't think she had even time to deal with what occurred properly nor do I believe she educated herself enough. It did not take me long to become disgusted with Desire just as I was disgusted with "aunt" What type of friend is Jen, your brother rapes your own friend and you're in denial about the whole situation then spread LIES !!!! -_- then ya'll become friends years later what complete bullshit - just because you forgive someone doesn't mean you have to have them in your life.... Linda. Malik truly deserves to be behind bars what a complete sicko !!! I hate when men like him get away with the fucked up bullshit that they do. So Is Linda Desire birth mother or what ??? if so then how can you do your own child like that for a nigga who wasn't around long enough . . . I hate mothers like that !!!! It just seems like no good characters were in the book besides baby Shyne Desire is no better than her mother(s) how can you want to kill your own son because he may or not have H.I.V the writer should have put some more thought into this book , how can you not know if you are or not H.I.V positive this broad definitely should've went to the clinic and attempt to take better care of her unborn child. This book really did not make any types of sense.... !!!! I am kind of glad I rushed through through this bullshit really hope there isn't a part 2 to this !!! if so I hope someone tries to do right by baby Shyne and give him a better chance at life , because that sick fuck of a mom is doesn't need to be in the same room as that poor baby.

I really felt so sorry for the character in this book. Desire was raped at a young age and it seems like her life just went downhill from there. I felt her pain every time she was taken advantage of. I understand her lashing out because she had so much hurt and anger bottled up inside. I just wish she would've had a saved person come into her life to help turn her around, but she did have an angel, who ended up being her brother so her some love temporarily. I hope there is another book after this one because I want to know what happens to her son!

I know there has to be a part 2 and I am anxiously waiting for it!

This has to be the saddest book I've ever read. Tia Hines sat around thinking up all the worst case scenarios for young Desire Jones and made it happen lol. I truly couldn't put this book down. I would rate it higher but I didn't care for the ending but it did leave things open for a sequel!

Probably the worst book I've read all year. Story was so unbelievable. Jumped all over the place... I read it quickly just to get it over with. Ending sucked . Leaves the possibility for a sequel that I will not be reading ...

This book was a page turner and it left me hanging at the end. Desire is out of control but she had a rough life, her parents abandonment can be looked at as tough love.
