Rate this book
Bringing the universe of Babylon 5 to the Traveller system, this book is a one-stop resource for Babylon 5 fans. Combining setting information with new rules, players can learn how jump gates and hyperspace works, play Narn, Minbari or Centauri characters and explore the space station that changed the fate of an entire galaxy.

With this book, you can become part of the Babylon 5 saga, creating characters to adventure alongside Sheridan, Garibaldi, Ivanova, G'Kar and Molari as residents of Earth's last, best hope.

Using the Traveller rules, the Universe of Babylon 5 shows you how to create detailed characters with rich backgrounds, skilled and equipped to survive the trials and tribulations of the eponymous space station. The rules allow you to recreate any era of the TV series, contributing your own stories to the five-year plot arc. Battle against the Shadows; evade the schemes of Bester's Psi Corps; verbally and diplomatically spar with the diverse ambassadors of the Non-Aligned Worlds, Centauri Republic, Narn Regime and Minbari Empire. Defy the military might of Earthforce - or ally yourself with it.

Comprehensive rules govern everything from character creation through to Starfury combat with Traveller's tried and tested systems tailored to the unique environment of Babylon 5. All you need is the Universe of Babylon 5 book and the main Traveller rules set - and your own imagination!

I reread my copy of this this year. While the ink on the hardcopy printing was botched back when, the ebook remains readable.

This book remains one of the best books for Traveller that Mongoose has ever produced. It captures the elements of Babylon 5 that it covers extremely well, and the rules it adds to Traveller are solid enough to bring back into a Traveller campaign in another setting. In fact, I use the PsiCorps rules from this book in preference to the core rules Psion rules because these rules provide a much more playable character with useful and well-defined abilities. (Let's not even discuss the train wreck that is psionics in the Mongoose 2nd edition rules.)

There is a lot of missing material if you want to run a full Babylon 5 campaign. Information on the space station itself, for example. If you want to run a Babylon 5 campaign, I strongly recommend getting a copy of The Babylon Project, an earlier B5 RPG, to use for setting material. It and this book will make for a great campaign, and only the Mongoose 1st edition Core Rules are needed otherwise. The other Mongoose B5 book should be added if naval operations will need to be detailed.

A great book from the Mongoose team when they were at their peak in producing Traveller material. It's a shame the printing turned out bad on the hardcopy books--they made up for it by providing purchasers the ebook for free--but that hardback would have been a much sought after item for bringing B5 into Traveller or any other game had that not occured.
