In her book " How to Be Your Dog’s Best Friend," Dr. Marta Sanchez-Emden neatly captures a key element of the attitude of the The dog, she says, "is bigger in his own eyes than in yours." In Sanchez-Emden, Chihuahuas have found a champion who shares their view. The author praises these petite pooches for their intelligence, fearlessness, affection and loyalty. She also arms readers with helpful guidance for choosing and caring for a Chihuahua throughout an owner-pet relationship that could last for as long as 18 years. Sanchez-Emden catalogs a range of hybrids — "designer" Chihuahuas — noting that the very process that produces such dogs places them at risk. A breeder recognized by the Chihuahua Club of America or the American Kennel Club, she says, is the best source for a healthy purebred Chihuahua.Excerpt from the “Chihuahuas are considered a companion breed because of their naturally affectionate nature. They will become their owner’s shadow, following him everywhere he goes. The Chihuahua is one of the few breeds that prefer human companionship to that of all other animals, including other Chihuahuas. They frequently bond to a single person. I read this book because I am a first time Chihuahua-Shitzu owner. I have always lived with larger breeds..and am learning so much affection, loyalty and intelligence are present with my little mixed breed. Glad I had an opportunity to read this.
Pretty Good Short Read To Get Familiar With The Breed
This is a nice short read to familiarize those who don't know Chihuahuas or their traits very well. It is not a training guide or comprehensive health guide.
