Carson Ballard isn’t only lactose intolerant—he’s intolerable. No wonder his assistant quit on him without notice.
Okay, okay, he has a right to be angry at me for dumping an armful of sticky breakfast plates on his head. It was an accident, I swear.
But now I’m out of a job—not that I’m any good at waiting tables—and Carson’s mother is offering to hire me.
There’s no way I can work for him. I may be from the sticks, but Davis Turner is nobody’s fool. Not anymore.
I refuse to be Carson’s next victim. Something will turn up. I’ll take anything. As long as I can hide away in the city, where my ex can’t find me.
Except my bank account is at rock bottom and rent is due. I’m running out of food. And time.
I guess I have to work for Carson. He’ll be my boss—nothing more. I can keep things professional.
There’s just one little problem.
Carson may not be as horrible as I thought. He’s trying so hard to right the wrongs of his father and brother, who left him with a mess most people would walk away from.
But Carson Ballard isn’t most people. And he won’t accept defeat.
Damn you, Carson.
Why do you have to be so nice...so generous…so wickedly funny and so, so sexy?
You’re offering me a future…if I can ignore the mistakes of my past.
You’re an impossible man who’s making everything possible.
How can I not fall for you?

Fall For You is a stand alone, MM romance by Felice Stevens. If you want a sweet, sexy, fun romance with two men who will melt your heart, then read on. This book is for you!

Davis Turner is thirty one years old. He’s been living in New York for two years, having come from his very small town and trying to hide from his ex. Davis is so smart, in both all things office management and computer technology. But he is currently attempting to work as a waiter. Not very successfully I might add. Which brings us to our meet cute. Well, one of our heroes didn’t think it was very cute when his server dumped an armload of plates all over him. So Davis lost his job. And needs another one pronto, because the rent is due and he needs to eat. When the man who got him fired’s mom offers him the job as assistant to that same man, he can’t possibly accept. Can he?

Carson Ballard is thirty four years old. I couldn’t help but to love this man. He had no relationship with either his brother or father. He left the family company and lived and worked abroad. With the death of both his father and brother, it became evident just what they had done to the family’s firm so because he loved his mother and wanted to save the company for her, he came home. His life was full of stress. He wasn’t even sure if he’d be able to save things. And he was going through assistants like water. Until his mother hired him a new one. The very same man who ruined his suit with a tray full of dirty dishes. But it became quickly evident that office management was Davis’s strength. Definitely not working as a food server. He saved Carson’s life that day. And he most definitely wasn’t hard to look at.

As these two work long days together and get to know each other better, they both realize how wrong they were about the other. And respect grows between them. Still, they keep their secrets close. Davis is fighting his attraction to Carson every single day but there is no way he will give in to it. That is one mistake he is not making. But his resistance is wearing thin.

I adore Felice’s books. Her men always melt my heart. Just as these two did. They made me smile and they made me swoon. I enjoyed this so much and can’t wait to see what she’s doing next.

“I wasn’t planning on falling for you, but maybe some things are inevitable.”

Audio: 5 stars JF Harding killed it!
Book: 1.5-2 stars

Well I think I need to really stop thinking I will like a Felice Stevens books… the beginning has such promise, but sweet god the romantic connection doesn’t flow at all. I had this issue with the last Felice Stevens book, the main characters said “I love you” way too soon and it didn’t fit with the timing of the book. Then the relationship stopped flowing like normal..

Also Davis for someone who had a tendency to get in to relationships with his bosses... and said he wasn’t going to again… you failed quite spectacularly hahaha! I mean I get Carson is way better than all your exes but you should have laid out more boundaries or talked it out before you hooked up.. just sayin.

And when Kelly pops up it makes no sense haha like he’s just a random person to say Davis has a friend.

And Davis’s ex in this book was unneeded.

Overall I need to learn not to be lured in by great narrators thinking they will save the book. You’d think I’d learn after the many times I keep doing this, alas that will never l be the case haha! I love to drive myself insane obviously!

This is one of my favourite books Felice has written.

It's just such a lovely, fairly low angst, sweet but not overly sickly, romance.with two characters who just grow stronger and stronger the more you read.

There meet/cute is pretty amusing but from the moment they start genuinely interacting and working together, you can sense the inevitable collision of attraction that is going to fall on them like the proverbial tonne of bricks.

Davis and Carson are so different but their similarities draw them together. Both have been hurt by past relationships, by people who should have known better, and they're wary of trusting anyone.

For Davis, it's even more of a leap of faith as his previous boss basically broke every workplace rule - and probably a whole load of laws over sexual coercion - on the way to breaking his heart too!

I really enjoyed the slow burn, gentle way these two developed first a good working relationship, then a friendship, and then realised their attraction was powerful and maybe should be something they explored rather than ignored.

There's not much drama but when it comes, it feels naturally placed within the narrative and not just chucked in for effect. I loved Carson's mum and their relationship, I loved Davis' dad and felt I got his mum Jenny, even if she was a tad much at times!

But, as a whole this book is just a beautiful romance with a very definite sense of a life-time's happiness at the end.

Here's a little excerpt from Fall for You. There will be a short pre-order“It must be hard, having to watch what you eat all the time.”

I lifted a shoulder. “Not anymore. When I was young, yeah. It was hard to go to parties and eat the pizza and ice cream, knowing that when I got home, I’d be sick all night.”
“Oh, wow, yeah. I’m sorry you had to go through that.”
“Worse yet was Dale, who later on attributed my problem to being gay.”
Davis’s jaw dropped. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
I’d never told anyone before, not even my mother, but I found it easy to unburden my secrets to Davis, a virtual stranger, about that kind of hurt. Worse than any physical bruise or hurt to my body was my brother’s rejection. It left a scar on my heart that never healed.
“When I came out, my brother said my stomach issues were a sign of weakness, which made sense to him, since I was gay. In fact, he called me a weak link.”
The cushion beside me dipped with Davis’s weight as he moved closer to me. “Hey. You know that’s not true.”
Did I?
Playing my emotions close to the vest was how I made it through life, and I willingly kept up the pretense. “Yeah, of course. But it’s still hard to fathom my brother having such animosity toward me. Up to and including middle school, we were best friends, but once Dale hit puberty, he became a different person.”
“How so?” Davis asked gently.
It shouldn’t sit like a lead weight on my chest after all this time. I didn’t care. Really. That shooting pain radiating through me must be from the cheese in the pizza.
“You know the type. Trying to be cool. Acting like a jock, playing up to his group of friends.”
“By putting you down?”
“Isn’t that how bullies operate? Insecure people always push around the people they think are weaker. But the truth is, we’re not weak. We don’t need to yell the loudest to prove how right we are or that we’re smarter. Eventually the truth comes to light. The bullies are defeated.”
“Like karma?”
I turned to face him and found my lips dangerously close to his. I froze, and his eyes widened with shock. Lust throbbed low and deep in my belly, and my breath caught. The golden sparks in Davis’s kaleidoscope eyes drew me in. Closer and closer. I could almost taste the softness of his mouth, feel the velvet of his tongue sweeping against mine. Fuck. I wanted him.
“Davis,” I murmured and reached out to tangle my fingers in the hair curling at his nape.

After a messy meet-cute between a sassy Davis and an obnoxious Carson, I thought this was setting up a hard-to-crack grump/sunshine story. Turns out Carson is just not real good at dealing with stress and Davis is just not that good at being a waiter.

This is a low angst, office romance with a fairly slow burn as Davis tries to put off the inevitable, wanting to break his pattern of falling for his boss after the last relationship had him fleeing his home. Carson is immediately taken with Davis who is smart and caring, but clearly hiding a big secret. The two MCs make a great couple and we really get a feel for who they are and it's oh, so satisfying when they finally get together.

This wouldn't be a Felice Stevens story without a bit of family drama on both sides, but nothing too huge and nothing that takes away from the romance. And of course, we're left with a very HEA for those two deserving men.

Grump Boss-Perfect PA

Carson Ballard has the weight of the world on his shoulders after his father and brother, misappropriated funds belonging to their wealthy clients, then got themselves killed in a car crash. Carson had to return home from his terrific job in London to try and save the company and replace what belonged to the clients.

He’s a grumpy, short tempered man at the best of times but when the waiter kept him waiting for his morning coffee, and then forgot what he ordered to eat, he really blew a gasket. Jumping up from his seat, he backed into the waiter with a tray of bacon, eggs and sausages, which promptly covered Carson from head to toe. His mother had just arrived for their weekly breakfast date and saw it all.

Carson, complaining loudly, catches Peter’s attention, the owner of the restaurant, who promptly says, “Davis, you’re fired”. Carson leaves after his mother calms him down.

Davis is living hand to mouth on his meagre earnings as a waiter. He knows it’s not the job for him, not with his qualifications, an IT Degree.
He had to flee his hometown and his high end job very suddenly and now he is ‘hiding’ in NYC.

He needs to find another job asap.

He’s surprised to see Carson’s mother waiting outside the door as he exits. After chatting for a few minutes, she offers him a job and gives her business card to him to call her.

Three days later, still Having no luck with a job, he calls her and accepts the job offer. Reporting for work on Monday morning he’s horrified to find he will be working as Carson Ballard’s PA. Fun times ahead!!!!

====================

It was fun watching these two guys trying to work together and discovering the ‘other side’ to each other.

At the same time both Carson and Davis have ex boyfriends skulking in their backgrounds and causing problems. Plus, clients wanting to take their business elsewhere which will bankrupt the company.

One thing I really liked about this book was that there wasn’t any ‘shoe dropping’ moment at 80% or there about. Sure, there were several incidents that cropped up that could have been one of those ‘moments’ but they were spread out throughout the book and dealt with as they cropped up.

These incidents were varied and involved secondary characters which impacted on Carson and Davis, and not caused between themselves.

Only annoyance to me was Davis’s overbearing, smothering mother, UGH.

Yes, a sweet easy read, no heart palpitations inflicted on me, only those ones between two guys who are crazy for each other.

5 stars for the narration, 2/5 for the story - 3.5 stars overall.

Very predictable boss/assistant romance that begins when the uptight perfectionist Carson gets Daviesfired from his job waiting tables (which, to be fair, he wasn't very good at) and then ends up employing him in the one-man-band law firm he's trying to save from oblivion following the deaths of his father and brother, who had been cooking the books.

Even the fabulous JFH couldn't magically turn this one into anything more than slightly-below-average.

Love at the Right Time

I really enjoyed Davis and Carson's story. They both have been through a lot and were wary of loving someone again. Their story made for a good read and I appreciated their happily ever after.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

4.25 stars. Audiobook. Very nice, low drama, low angst boss/employee story. Smooth and easy, for when you don’t wanna cry and don’t wanna get too worked up. Still satisfying and enjoyable even though low angst. This author did a great job of making the boss a bit unlikeable, but someone you might relate to and kinda root for, which I liked alot. Characters in their 30s. I liked the drama with the family issues, but wished we jumped into the ex issue more.

HEA, lawyer, waiter/receptionist/paralegal, NYC, contemporary, boss/employee.

Felice Stevens does it again

Once again she proves what a great writer she is. This is a wonderful book with just the right amount of steam and a bit of angst. Definitely one I will read again. Can’t wait for more by this author. Davis and Carson were a perfect match. Glad I bought this book.

FALL FOR YOU is a sweet and steamy standalone where, sometimes, you find the job you need and the person you love in the most unusual ways.

Davis hasn't found the work he needs in the time since he left his hometown, running away from a very bad situation. Instead, he finds himself working in a diner. Carson has come back home to rescue the family firm from bankruptcy after his father and brother drove it into the ground. It's hard for him to find an assistant who is prepared to work as hard as he does.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Their relationship grew and changed in a completely natural way. And I loved how Carson knew he'd found a gem with Davis, even before they acted on the attraction between them.

I enjoyed the scenes with the mums, but I did find it easier with Carson's mum. Davis' mum, Jenny, was a bit high maintenance but also funny. It all worked out in the end.

Low angst in all the best ways, this was a great read that I can definitely recommend.

This was such a heartfelt story but I shouldn't be surprised because that is how I feel about every story I read by Felice. In this story we meet lawyer Carson and Davis. Carson is stressed with tidying up the mess his dad and brother made of their lawyer business. One morning he has brunch with his mother and Davis drops a plate of food on his which sets him off. Davis loses his job but Carson's mum sweeps in and offers him a job as Carson's assistant which turns out to be the best decision. Davis helps Carson tidy up the mess off the company and they grow closer but Davis is reluctant to take the next step due to them being boss/employee but he has fallen in love with him so he has decided if he is brave enough to take the step. As with every story there are some ups and downs but I thought they were a great couple and I loved reading it.

Awe… I Loved This book! So sweet and romantic, steamy and heartfelt. I loved Davis and Carson. They met and it was a disaster, then Carson’s mom is there when it happens and talks to Davis and offered him a job to work for Carson, he doesn’t take her up on the offer until after a few days later, then him and Carson realize they are different then want they want and things change, they’re attracted to each other but Davis fights it because of his past relationships. Then eventually after a few drinks and celebrating good news things change for the better and the book gets so good, I couldn’t put it down. It was a wonderful happy ending. A Must Read!!

Carson and Davis both have baggage from failed past relationships and their first meeting was a total nightmare. Can they recover and move past the negatives to the chemistry they both feel? What an exciting journey for these two. Add in family from both sides and it's anyone's bet if they survive that and a meddling ex. Never a dull moment, but lots of love and warm and fuzzies. I liked that there was always communication on both sides to clear the air and reestablish their relationship.

What a lovely story. Given Davis’s history, it was completely understandable he was reluctant to give in to his feelings for Carson but neither could deny their connection and it made for a sweet HEA. A little bit of drama on both sides kept the story engaging and interesting as the MC’s relationship developed and I coulda read a lot more of these two.

This was an amazing, super sweet boss/ employee story. Felice always creates characters that are easy to fall in love with and who you wish you could know in real life. Each book she writes is even better than the last one, and they all make you want to keep reading them over & over.

The book got a really high rating, and I don't know why.
The plot is rather forced here and doesn't flow, the dialogue is shallow, and it honestly feels like the book was written by a middle school girl.

2.5 out of 5 rounded up.

The story was fine. I enjoyed Carson and Davis' time together before the relationship, but it went from 0-60 real quick after Carson's birthday dinner. How their infatuation with each other suddenly became love is beyond me, especially given the relatively short amount of time they spent ad a couple.

Sex scenes were much too short for my tastes, barely spanning a page.

Some scenes felt super repetitive too. Davis calling his mom (where his dad tells her to lay off the overprotectiveness) and Carson asking Davis to stay the night (but Davis says he doesn't have clothes) each happened twice. Davis' mom visiting followed quickly by Tommy showing up also felt redundant because we just had a person disapproving of Carson (Jenny). What was the point of another (especially since it was solved in the same scene)?

Emotions during scenes also felt very flippant. A character would be crying or stressed in one sentence, only to be winking or grinning just a few lines after. Made for very inconsistent tones.

Character-wise, I didn't really like Davis' journey. He starts off as a guy who's made chronically bad decisions regarding relationships with people in power (his TA, Brian) and the story makes him make the same decision. It feels weird? I get that his mistake was getting together with people who didn't actually care for him (that they happened to be his boss or superior both times was just a coincidence) but I don't think there was enough to differentiate Carson from Brian in this regard. Carson could've just as easily been manipulating Davis exactly like how Brian was and yet Davis still goes all in. The only reason we aren't supposed to think this is a bad idea is because we, as readers, see Carson's POV and know he's genuine, but Davis doesn't know that. This makes him seem foolish, and it doesn't seem to be the author's intent in this case.

Carson's character journey was fine. He mostly had internal battles regarding his brother and dad and the sudden appearance of his supposed niece was supposed to be the dramatic climax of his story, but it really just felt very meh. His emotions regarding his family didn't feel like it had much of an impact on the overall story (he and Davis would've still gotten together just fine even if he didn't hate them) so he really felt inconsequential.

Andrew and Brian were also very one dimensional antagonists.

All in all, this was an ok read. Nothing amazing, but also nothing awful.

🪦 Time of death 60% 🪦

Unfortunately, this was not good. It just wasn't, and the fact that it's rated so highly has me all kinds of confused 🙃 This was my first Felice Stevens novel, and it will likely be my last. I always try to say something kind about a book I don't like because I think it's nice to point out a bright spot or two instead of only the bad things. So, with that being said, I think the premise for the story was interesting and the initial meeting/enemies to lovers setup was promising, but unfortunately that's as much as I can say 😅

I'm not going to lie, the best part of this whole thing was JF Harding's narration. He was really the main reason I picked up the book in the first place. If he can't carry a book, then I know there are problems since I would listen to the man read me the entire Cheesecake Factory menu 🤣 So the 1* is for JF Harding and his valiant attempt to save this book.

I think my biggest problem was the author's writing style. I didn't click with it at all. It was very simplistic. There was a lot of telling and not a lot of showing. Everything was spelled out to an annoying degree. I think there were supposed to be funny bits, but everything kind of fell flat 🫠 The dialogue was meh, and there was no good banter or chemistry anywhere in sight. I felt nothing for the characters. I should've DNF'd sooner, but JF Harding kept me going until I couldn't manage any longer.

Ultimately, the thing that made me DNF was the absolute ridiculousness of Carson making this big promise not to pursue Davis and then immediately BANGING HIM!

No joke. I blinked twice and they were banging it out by having the most forgettable sex you've ever read in your life. It was SO bad, some of the worst I've ever read. Friends, when I tell you nothing made sense, I mean NOTHING. So many bad choices were made. I pulled my headphones out of my ears and tried not to waste any more braincells on this until now writing this review to warn you all not to waste your braincells on it either 🚫

Carson Ballard is an absolute bear of a man to work for. The proof of that is the alarming number of personal assistants he goes through in a very short period of time. Davis Turner works at the restaurant where Carson has breakfast and although their first meeting is memorable, it isn’t pleasant. Davis is a terrible waiter and accidentally dumps food-laden plates on Carson, which gets him fired on the spot.

Carson’s mother sees something in Davis and thinks he’d be the perfect PA for her son. Davis can’t believe it when she offers him a job and initially refuses. But with rent coming due and no other prospects in sight, he yields and accepts her offer. Carson is stunned when Davis arrives in his office with his mother and is told he will be his new PA. He’s as reluctant as he is desperate and agrees to give Davis a try. After all, what has he got to lose? Davis quickly proves himself invaluable and Carson sees that that there is much more to Davis that his perfect ass and beautiful eyes.

Both men have a past that comes back to haunt them and I was really happy to see that neither needed the other to protect them. I was also happy to see how open these two were with each other once Carson began to thaw and in his own way, began to pursue Davis. Davis is trying had to not make the same mistakes he’s made in the past but Carson is a temptation to hard to resist.

Fall For You is one of those books you can’t put down once you start reading. You will laugh and want to cheer as these two break down the barriers that might keep them apart. This is a steamy read with a little angst and a HEA that will leave you smiling and wanting more.

Felice Stevens is quickly becoming my go-to author for low-angst comfort reads. Fall for You starts with a disastrous first meeting with waiter Davis making a monumental mistake, and lawyer Carson reacting badly. This sets off a chain of events that has the two working together, forging a detente, and trying to ignore their mutual attraction.
Secrets secrets are no fun….
Davis and Carson are used to hiding things. Davis is ashamed to admit the stalker-ish tendencies of his closeted ex, and Carson has never shared with his mom the extent of his dad and brother’s cruelty.
Plus Carson can be exacting - there’s a reason his assistants never last. And Davis’ habit of falling for unavailable men he works with hangs heavy. But they work so well together rebuilding the family business his father and brother almost ruined. Free to show his talents, Davis is a formidable partner. I loved his optimism in spite of what’s he’d been through.
Even though he starts off grumpy, I loved the underlying love and support Carson showed for Davis. And I really liked the symmetry between Davis and Carson. Both are carrying the weight of responsibility in supporting their families. They’re good, loyal men who deserve a HEA.
Can I just add no one writes a first kiss like Felice!
More thoughts:
Davis’ mom is the queen of smothers. I actually loved Carson’s bluntness at calling out her behavior.
And there’s a soapy twist with great misdirection. Well played!
There’s something so soothing and so satisfying in the way Felice writes. I absolutely loved this sweet, steamy, and romantic story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely loved this boss/employee relationship dynamic! Davis walked into Carson with a stack of plates at a family diner where he worked as a waiter and made a huge mess. Carson was already on edge after all the attempts to restore a good name of the family firm that his father and brother destroyed with their careless actions. He had no patience for a lousy waiter and he didn't want to see him again serving him lunch but Carson's mother felt bad for getting the young man fired and offered him a job of a personal assistant. To her intolerable son no less.

This became a start of something full of resistance at first but quickly turned into appreciation. Nothing felt out of place for me. Both men were in their mid-thirties and their decisions and actions were appropriate for someone who had a past with a heartache. To me communication is always sexy, and these two excelled at that even though it took a bit of time to open up to each other. Mothers are amazing in this story! I have to give them that! Loving but standing their ground. Those ladies were an important part of the story for me.

I loved that despite wealth Carson treated Davis as equal (well, maybe part from that restaurant disaster that became a running joke in their relationship). Everything was quite harmonious between them which I simply adored.

One of the best boss/employee books out there. I keep an eye on those since I love this trope.

REVIEW OF AUDIOBOOK; APRIL 20, 2026
Narrator: J F Harding.

3 and a half stars.

Nothing special but I liked it well enough to finish it and there were no moments where I was tempted to check some other book out.

But there is one part I did not like, and which reflected poorly on Carson - when Carson, battling his attraction to Davis, decides to take up his ex's - Andrew - offer for a drink. Carson is totally over Andrew due to the latter's cheating. When Andrew comes barging into Carson's office insisting on rekindling their romance, Carson remains resolute in his refusal. So for Carson to suddenly reverse course and call Andrew was, for me, a low point. Why did he do it? Because he had a teeny-weeny spat on the phone with Davis and needed to know somewhere someone wanted him. Ugh.

But in the end, even that was pointless and a weak move on the author's part, because all Carson did was to reject Andrew's advances again. Thank God or this would have ended up as a DNF.

That was about the only bit I didn't like and was unnecessary to the plot. The author could have just gone straight to Andrew's real reason for wanting to reconnect with Carson and have her protagonist display this weak point in his character.

Not a book I would relisten to but I'm happy enough with my first listen.

You know how some books are just effortless to read? It's like you sit down, start reading and before you know it, hours have passed because you were so wrapped up in the story, you never even looked up. Well, that's Fall for You! I lost myself so completely in Carson and Davis's story that I could've read the whole thing in one sitting.

I will never get sick of the "throw them together and see what happens" trope. Grumpy Carson is working his tail off to save the family law firm that his father and brother almost destroyed and sweet, awkward Davis is waiting tables while hiding from his ex. When Davis dumps food all over Carson, the sparks start flying. Enter Carson's mother, Patricia, who hires Davis to be Carson's assistant. Boy, did I love that woman!

As Carson and Davis work together, they begin to discover that they aren't so different after all. I really loved how their animosity evolved into a solid working relationship and to friendship, passion and ultimately love. I was all in for these guys.

If you're looking for angst and heavy drama, you won't find that here. There are some dramatic moments but the focus here is on two men who are very different on the surface but amazingly similar underneath.

Reading this book was pure joy. If you want a book with strong characters and a great story, grab Fall for You.

Not so meet cute

A lovely not so meet cute. Carson is not having a great day, it does not get any better when the new waiter accidentally collides with him, hands full of food dishes.

Davis is having a hard go of it, fleeing from past mistakes. He takes any job he can get that doesn't require past work references. He is on his last chance, and accidentally colliding with a long time customer, and covering him in food was the last straw.

But the grumpy customer's mother comes to the rescue with a job offer... Working for her grumpy son. Not having any other options, he dives in to the work.

Unfortunately for Davis, Carson actually isn't how he appeared when they first met & he struggles with falling for his boss.... Again.

These two work great together & their banter is fun. They form a friendship. Both struggle with their feelings for each other, as they've both been burned in the past.

I loved seeing how Carson treated Davis. As an office romance, they both drew professional boundaries, even as they became a couple. At work, they work, at home, they do whatever they want. Carson sees Davis as an equal & not just a work plaything. It was very refreshing.

Absolutely delightful MM Romance. I fell in love with Carson and Davis from the very start. Yes, even when Carson was being his grumpiest. The author gave us a storyline that was absolute perfection for these two. Their meeting wasn’t exactly a meet/cute considering during their first interaction Davis dumped a few sticky breakfast plates of food all over Carson from his head to his expensive shoes. Then to make matters worse Davis gets fired from the diner making Carson’s mother, Patricia, feel bad for him. So what does she do? She offers him a job at the firm as Carson’s Personal Assistant, to which Davis thinks she’s lost her mind. But being broke and not being able to find work leaves Davis desperate enough to call Patricia about the assistant’s job. From here the story takes off on a whirlwind of crazy banter, “company dinners” and lots of secret looks, both men not wanting to jeopardize the working relationship they have.

Things are not all smooth sailing but their story will warm your heart and leave you breathless. At least it sure did this reader. I highly recommend it and to Ms. Stevens I say, I sure hope we see these two again in the future (hint hint).

Mostly I liked this book. In the beginning and in the middle it was incredible, I was reading it in non-stop. Closer to the end it somehow weakened for me, but I can’t explain in what way.
I loved how author described Carson’s lactose intolerance – I felt so pity for him when his stomach was aching, and in this moments he was live human creature.
As for Brian – it feels, as if story is not ended yet – this part did not have its closure, its completion. It could have been better plot.
I am glad that author did not bring here children to main characters – I do not love kids, and reading when gay pair is desperate for them in a lot of books I read is pretty like scamming the plot, like author does not know, what else to write about.
And the moment of Davis’s moving out to Carson – it was worth better attention that it got from Felice. This was only mentioned in passing. It could have been a great chapter though.
And I don’t know, what I hadn’t enough in sex scenes, but something was missing for me.
And there were few misprints, but what book is without them?
Overall impression I have from this book it 5 stars in beginning and middle and 4 stars closer to the end. However, I add this book to favourites and give it 5 stars.
