Museum heart - ‘There’s a museum in your heart of everyone you’ve ever known. You collate the artefacts nobody else cares to hold onto. You hang pictures of people with faces others find too ghastly to look at. You find them fascinating. You’ve been so busy filling rooms with fragments of others, you forgot to hold space for the most precious one of all. You, my dear.’
You are weird, in a wonderful sort of way - ‘You’d rather take bugs outside, than see them suffer for simply being small. You consider stranger’s feelings before your very own. You hate to be perceived, but long to feel seen. You feel a whole ocean for people who cannot feel a drop for themselves. In a world of apathy and coldness, your empathy and warmth are weird. Weird in the kind of way we need.’
Oh how I needed this. I like to mark my poetry books by underlining beautiful lines or marking pages I’d like to go back and re-read. I found myself marking so many pages it started to look more like a coloring book. I couldn’t stop myself from crying, as a sensitive soul I felt so seen and loved with each page. I will definitely be recommending to any of my friends I feel would benefit from the words to walk away with a better understanding and love for themselves.
Over the past couple of months, I have I carried this wonderdul little book everywhere with me, dipping in and out of it during my morning commutes, in between working on assignments, before I go to bed at night. I have spent so much time reflecting on the messages shared. Chloë Jade puts into words all the feelings and experiences I never knew how to name. If you feel like you have a sensitive soul then this book is for you!
This book definitely found me when I needed it. The messages were a bit repetitive and the inner editor in me wanted to fill in spaces with correct punctuation, however it speaks to the sensitive people out there.
It’s hard to put into words how it feels to be sensitive, but this book did that. I’d like to see more of her work as she progresses.
Coming from a sensitive person, this book was so comforting and inspiring. I loved it and would definitely recommend to those who need to learn to be a little more kinder to themselves <3 Thank you for this beautiful book!
A beautiful book for anyone who has ever felt like they’re too much or too sensitive. Or, for anyone who has been told they’re too much. She captures what it means to be empathetic and how isolating that can feel at times
