Based on the King Midas story, Scuttle's Big Wish tells the story of a mouse who loves cheese above all else–or so he thinks. When a magical golden beetle gives him a wish, he asks that everything he touches turns to cheese. The result is hilarious and touching.
A fun version of the King Midas tale from the perspective of a mouse who loves cheese more than anything in the world. Kids will delight in the pictures. Good text for making predictions and talking about POV.

I chuckled when I read this book. A version of the King Midas tale, this is the story of a mouse who LOVES cheese and is given a wish fulfilled when he saves the golden beetle from the spider. He realizes that having everything he touches turn into cheese is not always positive. A great lesson is learned when scuttle realizes that the world is great just the way it is - Even the cat. I loved the pictures - great story!
scuttle the mouse wishes that everything becomes cheese...and it does from his touch. when his best friend transforms, he takes back his wish. some very scary pictures for little ones...like when the cat is trying to eat the mouse.
This was an adorable spin on the story of King Midas. The illustrations were both beautiful and adorable at the same time. It gave my daughter and I both several laughs. Great book for story time!
