Pretty good start to the series- read on KU

It was nice to read a crime thriller where the female lead didn't get kidnapped by the bad guy and that wasn't the mechanism used to solve the mystery. Unfortunately, you can't follow clues to figure out who did it, but the police work is solid. AND she DIDN'T go in without back up. That sets it apart.

A good read; well written suspenseful and yet human. I will definitely read more in the series.

Well written and thought out

Two big errors: the unnecessary chapter on which the serial killer talks to himself and the soppy and utterly irrelevant last chapter -- preachy and overly long.

The writing is of high quality and the characters have personality and meaningful interactions. The author doesn't try to have too many surprises twists and turns. Some editing for conciseness would be worthwhile.

I loved this book a lot!

I don't even know where to start, Allie was amazing, I love her so much. I love all the details we get about her; I love her vulnerability. her realness. her connections with others.

So many things set this book apart for me, in a good way. For one, Allie was a newly graduated agent (I reallllly am loving these where the mc is new) the investigating was great. I love me a good romance between partners, but it was refreshing to see them be friends, and not only that he's married, and we actually get to know his wife, she's not just a name. It was also refreshing not having Allie kidnapped, not to mention she actually shared info, called when she should have called and had back up. like YES, love that.

and the side characters, gosh they were so well written. I loved her Grandma, all the interactions made me care for her how Allie cares, not to mention her farm is dreamy. I love King, He's different in a good way, I love how he was always giving Allie waters or snacks, (ngl the food in this book made me hungry, I loved the brining snacks or coffee to work)
Marze is great, I loved every second with him, he seems like a good boss.
Oh, and the Morgue crew was fun rag tag group, and her teacher was great and sweet. Like the side characters in this book was just another level for me, they felt different that the usual side characters. maybe fleshed out would be what I'm trying to say.

The story with her father is intriguing and I honestly can't wait to see more of him.

honestly, I genuinely don't think I disliked anything in this book.

This book was a breath of fresh air, and I am looking forward to reading the next one.

I loved this book. I wanted to read it because of it taking place in Gig Harbor where I live. I love it when books use real locations as well like Cutter’s Point Coffee and Gig Harbor High. It was a good procedural crime book and am looking forward to others in the series.

Better than most.

Allie Bishop has a dark past. Her father is a serial killer, and she has been made to pay for that all her life. But unlike other books where the female agent with a tortured past is angry and guarded and a loner, Allie has recently graduated from the FBI academy and is looking forward to her first assignment. She's eager to keep people safe and to become a good agent along the way. Unfortunately, her first assignment is in her old hometown, where she was bullied and ostracized for being the daughter of a serial killer. And it's where her father had been a teacher at that same high school that she later attended. Nobody lets her forget. But with her beloved grandmother recuperating from surgery, Allie needs to be nearby for her. Allie's first assignment is catching a serial killer who is torturing and murdering high school kids. This book isn't always easy to read. The killer is one twisted madman. But it is enthralling. I had a hard time putting it down. Allie is a really good character. She's smart, intuitive, she thinks outside the box, and she faces up to her history, instead of hiding from it. She doesn't share a lot about her past because over the years she's learned to keep quiet about it. I really enjoyed this book and I'll definitely be reading the next one.

The Devil's Daughter is the first book in the Allie Bishop FBI Mystery Thrillers by Eva Sparks - and again, with this series I was plunged into a gripping blend of psychological suspense, high-stakes investigation, and emotional undercurrents.
Across the series, we follow Allie Bishop, a sharp, determined FBI agent whose intelligence is matched only by her resilience. Each book delivers a self-contained mystery whilst weaving in an overarching storyline that deepens Allie’s personal journey.
Ms. Sparks excels at layering clues, along with a few red herrings, ensuring that the final reveals are both surprising and satisfying.
The cases are dark and often chilling, but the human connections - between Allie and her colleagues, her adversaries, and even herself - gives the stories heart. The writing is vivid, making it easy to visualize the action, yet still intimate enough to pull you into Allie’s inner world.
This is perfect for fans of fast-paced thrillers who also appreciate character-driven storytelling.
Happy Reading…

Love the start of this new series about Special FBI Agent, Allie Bishop. Allie has had a lot to get over in her life. As a young girl, she found out that her father was a serial killer and she was the one that testified and sent him to prison. Now the thought that lingers with her, did her Mother run away all those years ago or did her father kill her?

Growing up with her grandmother and trying to fit in was hard to do as everyone ignored her in school as she was the serial killer's daughter. But, Allie went on to become an FBI Agent. Just graduating and being a "rookie" she is amazed that she is handed her first case. The case takes her back home and to killings that are being committed on members, and students of her high school at Gig Harbor. Is the killer someone Allie knows?

Great start of this series!!!

This book was picked for our book club. I read the plot and didn't think I would like it at all. I'm not that much into reading about FBI and crimes and I don't like a book that's part of a series. All that being said, I really enjoyed this one. It was easy to follow along and I really like the character Allie Bishop, she was someone that seemed like the girl next door and the author made her to be real.
Also, in reading the acknowledgements, I see that Eva Sparks is self published, which I think is pretty awesome and even gives her email to directly get in touch with her and tell her your thoughts.

Fresh out of Quantico, Allie Bishop returns to her hometown after years of trying to forget that her father murdered several women there. Her first case will test her endurance and her courage.
A good introduction to Allie's character as she tries to find her way knowing that her father's actions will affect the way people see her as it has in the past. I really liked the character of her partner Jason King and the dynamic between them.
Overall, a good novel with a well paced story and interesting plot and characters.

The Devil's Daughter (Allie Bishop FBI Mystery Thriller Book 1)

OMG!!!!!!! This book was amazing and very scary. Allie has her hands full with her very first case, she has a serial killer in her small town. She also has to go back to a place of horrible memories, she is the daughter of a serial killer and she witnessed her father murder a young woman at the age of 10. She put her father in prison with her testimony, but has suppressed a lot of memories, now she has to face her past, to find the killer. I can't wait to read the next book.

The Devils Daughter review

I really enjoyed the suspense and mystery of The Devils Daughter by Eva Sparks. She knew just how to grip your emotions throughout the story, and keep you wondering who the killer was and what could possibly happen next with the bad guy and the victims. I can't wait to read the next Allie Bishop FBI mystery thriller, and I would highly recommend this author to anyone who loves thrills and chills in a book. Thank Eva Sparks, and keep up the great writing.

The Devil's Daughter

Allies mom disappeared when she was seven and at the age of ten she saw her father murder a woman he had kidnapped. Her father was a serial killer. She grows up bearing the criticism of others because of her infamous father. She choses law enforcement and her first assignment after her graduation at Quantico is a serial killer on her old stomping grounds. She's instrumental in saving the kidnappers last victim after confronting her worst fears. Great story.

A gripping mystery that forced me to to keep turning pages.

I'm so happy to have found this series. I've fallen in love with Allie Bishop and Jason King. For a book not often in my genre I think it may have just sparked a love for mystery.

I was especially drawn in by the main character Allie. Deeply flawed, and yet capable in ways that worked really well with narrative. He motivations were clear, her wins justified and her losses felt.

This was an exquisite bit of writing and I cannot wait to read the next one.

Nice procedural thriller. It was nice that every woman in the book wasn't being raped, threatened with rape or had been raped as a way to build her character. I'll probably give the rest of the series a try. It was also nice that the male/female cop partners weren't having romantic tension. They became friends and the protagonist befriends the partners spouse, who seems to be an actual character not just a name in the book.

Wow!!

What a great in-depth story. Oliver every part of this story, Allie has suffered so much and came out a fighter. Jason makes a great partner. Where Allie is emotionally stunted he make up for that with his experience and compassion. She has a great supportive team behind her, including Victoria, her grandma and Mr Hayes her old school teacher. There was real heart and soul in this novel and I ,wouldn't put it down.

A relentless thriller!

There are some horrific moments in this finely spun mystery! As rookie FBI agent Allie Bishop and here partner Jason King investigate the maniacal murders by a crazed killer! There is also a dual time frame storyline concerning 10 year old Allie and her father Beau Bishop!
The surprises just keep coming in the Devil's Daughter! It's page turning, compelling, emotional and stunning!

A Refreshing Read with Real Potential

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was such a different start, one I never expected. I was turning pages well into the night and it had me enthralled from the first page. Plus, this is an indie author, so I’m even happier to support her. This is the fourth series I’ve tried since March. I lost interest in the second and third because of some silly things the authors did that really wound me up. Here’s hoping this one has more promise!

This book follows the story of Allie Bishop.
At a young age she witnessed something that a small child shouldn’t have seen. But that helped made her decided to become an FBI agent.
In this case she is in charge of has given her flash backs to when she was in high school. She finds out who the killer is and why he is killing them. 3 murdered, 2 alive and hurt.
If you like mystery/thrillers give this book a read. I’m excited to read the next in this series.

Fascinating! A Story of Redemption and Finding Truth

This was a rollercoaster ride for me. I felt sympathy for Allie as a child and also as an adult finding her way as a new FBI agent.
She’s smart, discerning, energetic. I could imagine her humiliation at her high school. The cruelest people are students. I Recommend this one as your next read.

harrowing and grueling

Allie Bishop has baggage - and personal trauma - bundled up with a mother who disappeared when she was seven, then discovering her beloved father was a serial killer!

As a newly-minted Special Agent, her first assignment plants her back in the same environs she’d left behind after her childhood trauma, working on a case with ties to her high school.

So good

This story being a follow up to the Darcy Hunt series, is just as good. I'm excited to read the next book for Allie. Such a unique life Allie had and has. To be able to move on from her start in life and make something of it, is inspiring. There are a number of memorable sentences in this book, don't read too fast that you miss them.

The best of times and the worst of times

First time to read this author and I really enjoyed the story. Allie is an FBI agent and good at what she does. Her first case is a doozy and it's hard for her to navigate due to her past in the town. Allie's character grows throughout this book and she is a women to be feared with flaws. Can't wait for the next book in this series.

Great series opener

I enjoyed reading this first book of a new series. This was my first book by this author. Allie as a brand new FBI agent is certainly a new idea. There wasn't any romance or romantic interests in this book. This was straight up murder mystery thriller. Looking forward to reading the next book.

Good introduction to Agent Allie Bishop

Enjoyed this story. It continues Agent Bishop's first case after leaving Quantico. This will be interesting to compare the Agent Hunt vs Agent Bishop, although there are several differences, both agents became FBI agents because of a similar past. Good first story. Looking forward to the next one.

Exceptional story line

I enjoyed the flow of the story. Not too wordy that it you want to hurry it up. If a book hasn't snagged me within the first few pages, it is gone.
I very much appreciate the talent to write a good book without profanity. Not all of us accept that as "expected".
Thank you.
