Men in Black!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: 😠😘🤓😉

The heroine: Inara Nash - she was the result of a genetic experiment on children in the womb. She had Fae DNA from her distant relatives which was mixed with werewolf and some type of cat shifter. She has been living on the streets since she was young. She didn’t know what she was until she met a friend named Jimmy who was a shifter. He told her she smelled like a shifter, though she can’t shift. Jimmy knew why the men in black were searching for her, but he never told her. Since he was caught, all she has done is run.

The Hero: Eadan Daly - he is a Magik and worked for both the PSI Ops and the Immortal Ops. He was recently switched back from the Immortal Ops team he had been working on to the Psy Ops and given a list of people that were part of the Asia Project, which was a genetic experiment by some mad scientists. He was shown a picture of Inara Nash, whom he had never seen before but immediately recognized. She was on the list and marked to bring in or eliminate.

The Story: Eadan was shown the pictures of Inara by his boss because they had gotten a tip that she was his fated mate. The PSI Ops had also tried to catch her and she had gotten away not once but three times, which is unheard of from even the most highly trained. Eadan immediately wanted to be the one to go after her as he didn’t want anyone else to touch her or hurt her.

Inara had been drawing pictures of Eadan for years, but thought he was just a man she made up in her head. She was living as a street rat and keeping out of sight as much as possible. When she finally meets Eadan, she knows he is the man who she has been seeing in her mind, but she also finds out that he is with the men in black.

This book was told in multiple points of view, via solo narration. I generally don’t buy books that don’t have dual narration, but I really like this series. I don’t understand why authors don’t do dual narration on most romance books, but at least this one had a decent narrator and I like his voice. The narration was done by Topher Samuals, who isn’t the best narrator, but isn’t the worst either.

I am totally hooked on this series. It has taken a little while to get back to it, thankfully it is in audio, which lets me play catch-up.

I really liked meeting Eadan in the other books and was thrilled to see him get a mate. Wouldn't you know he has to go find her to rescue her? Yeah, this series does not make things easy on the mates. They get such tough lives. Even though Inara is in need of rescue, she manages to save herself and her man. Can I get a "you go girl"?

This follows the theme of the series, insta-lust when you find your true mate. Add to that the who fae sex magic angle, and you guessed it, they get busy at an inappropriate time.

The steam factor is of the charts. Oh yeah, things are going to be uber smexy. That is something you come to expect in this series. Wide open bedroom door with plenty of steamy detail.

The narrative is mixed, mostly between the leads but a few randoms as well. It definitely gives you a full understanding of the motivations of everyone around. You will also get hints of stories yet to come.

The story is really short, so the plot is seriously abbreviated. There could have been so much more here. I know this series tries to stay in the novella range, but I would have liked a bit more story, cause it was intriguing.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Topher Samuels, who has a nice raspy grumble to his voice. I really enjoyed his tone, but he also sounded a touch congested. He has a nice pace and keeps the story moving. There are quite a few pauses I could do without, like after every paragraph. If you speed it up the pauses are reduced. I was also bothered by the pronunciation of a past character's name, really not how i thought it would be, grated my nerves every time he said it. Seems like a newer narrator, it will be interesting to hear one of his reads down the road. His women's voices are nice, not too high but a touch breathy.

I am hooked on this series, so I will keep reading, this was just a little disappointing. Everything felt rushed and there is so much story left untold. Please, give me more!!!

*** I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed; all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! Eadan and Inara

Albeit short, it was still engaging and fun to read. I am happy that Eadan get to be in I-Ops instead of working alone. I like their banter and how they tease each other.. The story is still action-packed, funny and HOT 😍.. Its also nice seeing new characters and a glimpse of Colonel Brooks... Next is Immortal PSI-OPS Duke's story 🤗

Fave Quote:
“Even if you’re not tough—pretend. It can convince a lot of people,” she murmured, thinking of Jimmy’s words of wisdom. “And never lose your ability to laugh.”

2.5 stars - Woefully lacking in the character development and plot of its predecessors.

‘Tactical Magik’ is the fifth novella in the Immortal Ops series. Although each novel in the series is about an individual couple, each story builds on the previous and includes previous couples as secondary characters, giving away spoilers for plot points and character developments. As such it’s best to read the novellas in series order.

This is the first of the novella’s I’ve listened too that had not been revised and extended by the author and narrated by Mason Lloyd. It felt a bit thin on the ground in terms of plot and character development. This was a shame as I’d been looking forward to Eadan’s story, especially after Wilson’s story had been so good.

Eadan came across as a bit smarmy and self-satisfied and Inara was one dimensionally clueless and inexperienced, which just didn’t capture my imagination. I didn’t buy into them as individuals or as a couple in the novella. All Eadan’s angst from his history was swept away and Inara didn’t seem to have a problem with anything except him potentially holding out on sex from her.

The new narrator - Topher Samuels, had a very stilted reading style and didn’t do the character voices justice, which seemed to add to flippancy to the the characters, detracting any gravitas and depth.

The plot didn’t seem to go anywhere in particular and you never got a sense that Eadan or Inara were ever in any true danger. In the end I felt like the author’s heart wasn’t in this one.

This one was good for how short it was! I think having read the previous books, I was invested in Eaden finding his mate after what he went through with Missy. I definitely wanted more, but I liked it none the less.

I absolutely love this series. It feels as if I'm in their world. I loved the characters especially Eadan Daly and Inara Nash. It was so easy to enjoy their journey. Mates and babies are everywhere that's all Eadan hears anymore. He's the sixth man with the I-Ops team. They accepted him as one of their brothers. He's also Melanie's brother and they love him just as much. Someone is drawing pictures of Eadan. He is called back to PSI, Paranormal Security and Intelligence, he's not sure he wants to hobbs their to his old job. But when he gets there, he's looks at the file of his mission and immediately knows that the women in the picture is more than a mission. She's an artist, and the pictures she draws is of Eadan, he's shocked. How does she know him and why is she drawing pictures of him. He's never seen her before in his life. And she's been drawing pictures of him all her life. His mission is to find the kids from the Asian Project and Inara is one of those children. This is the love story of Eadan and Inara's and what an awesome journey it is. Inara Nash is a survivor and she's been off the grid for years. She's been running from something she's doesn't understand. Selling her pic to survive. Now Eadan Daly knows he need to save her but when he gets there she's already saved herself. And that's when the sparks fly. When they find that they are mates the journey begins. Once he finds her they are both captured and to his surprise his I-Opts team save them. The best part of the book 📚 is lost relatives making things interesting for Eadan. Her connection to Lukian and Rio is freaking classic. Lots is supernatural beings and magic. I'm hooked on the series and can't wait to get to next book.

This book is Eadan Daly’s, a Fae, who is assigned to I-Ops. For this story, Eadan is loaned back to his original group, the PSI Branch, because information had been found that a woman, Inara Nash, appears to have been a part of the Asian Project, and possibly Eadan’s mate. Inara needs to be found quickly, and there is where the challenges start. Their story moves very fast, and at the end, the I-Ops team is there to offer their assistance. References are made about people and things that have happened in previous books - if you haven’t read them that is not a big problem, the author gives just enough information to make this book an easy read. At the end of this book, Tactical Majik, Mandy M. Roth sets up the next book in the series. An enjoyable read, with two likeable characters, who kept my attention to the end. I was given and ARC by the author to read, and this is my honest opinion.

REVIEW:
It was good to catch up on the characters in the I-Ops team. Their easy banter and exciting situations make for a fun read. Eadan and Inara mesh together well and I liked their story. I thought the writing was a bit rushed, sometimes a little forced and it could have been fleshed out more, but it was still a fun quick read that has me looking forward to the next book.

Not a standalone.

I would have liked more of Eadan's story; it ended to quickly. The PSI characters are interesting. Reading the previous books helped understand the reactions.

Mandy M. Roth has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Inara and Eadan. Eadan is being pulled from his job with the Immortal Ops to do a solo mission with PSI. When he gets to PSI, he talks to General Jack C. Newman. General Newman tells him about the girl he is going to look for. Eadan asks "Why he is going alone?" General Newman tells him that from the DNA tests that Inara Nash could be related to Lukian and Roi. They are not to know about this yet. Inara is at a warehouse and gets inside where she plans to take some money and food. She runs into a lady and after the lady introduces herself as Jinx, Inara remembers Jimmy talking about her and she tells Jinx her name is Inara. Jinx says "Jimmy's charge?" Inara just nods. Jinx tells her that she shouldn't be there. Jinx figures out that Inara is there to steal money and asks her about it. Inara just nods her head and said food too. This is when Jinx asked about Jimmy and Inara tells her that he was taken a few months before. Jinx takes Inara to a back room where she can wash up and get some food. Eadan is at the same warehouse as Inara and when he finds her, things do not go the way he planned for them too. They are both caught and put in a container onboard a ship. Jinx is the one to find them and then the guys from Immortal ops show up. Lukian and Roi get upset when they get there and see Eadan with Inara. Inara puts a stop to them going after Eadan.
Will things work out for Inara and Eadan?
Will Lukian and Roi let Eadan be with Inara without hurting him first?

💣💣ONE SPECTACULAR ADVENTURE💣💣
Blazing bloomers boo! Mandy knocked the brakes off this incredibly tantalizing, ground breaking, rock-my-world thrill ride with this phenomenal rollercoaster, bringing the heat and kicking down walls, hitting the mark and making bank, launching this bad boy to staggering heights. Jetting headlong into a minefield full of riveting drama, gripping intrigue, underlying currents, brutal tactics, cruel deeds, spiraling danger, electrifying suspense and nailbiting encounters converge, noting the perilous struggles and formidable triumphs, while attentive to the deadly twists and shocking turns unfolding, sketchy lines and paltry perimeters solidify as determination soars, wrapping this hot little number up sleek, shiny and tight. The attraction and chemistry ignites with such intoxicating intensity, exploding with boundless emotions and infinite affection, drawing our characters closer, uniting them to one another perfectly. The characters, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow adding depth and diversity, transforming into outstanding personalities. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels as though you're part of the story instead of on the sidelines, feeling everything the characters feel. Fabulous job Mandy, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.

Fun and entertaining, quick and steamy read! Love the fated mates scenario; love that deep connection between love interests, and it’s cool to have many different types of paranormals. Love the banter between all the black ops type teams; they are all like unruly children, but they’re all a bunch of kooky fun. This can be read as a stand-alone, but there will be spoilers for the previous couples in the series, so you may want to start at the beginning.

In this one, Fae Eadan finds out that the mate he’s never met is in extreme danger. His mate, Inara, was one of the children experimented on when she was a baby and now has dangerous people after her. She’s really had a tough life, and is currently living on the streets; she’s just trying to remain in hiding and trying to survive. Eadan sets out to find and save his mate. Love that Inara had dreams and such about Eadan before meeting him. They have an instant connection as fated mates do; they are totally adorable together! I would’ve liked a bit more action and more actual story about why the bad guys were doing what they were doing, but still an interesting story. The romance is the main focus; good passion and heat! Looking forward to reading more in this series. I’m going to pass on the next one about Jinx, who is a succubus and prostitute; it’s just not my thing to read about brothels and needing to “feed” on sex. Still excited to read the other books though!

Eadan is not coping well. He's happy for Missy & Ray, but he's throwing himself into work, and is having to leave the team for a PSI-OP mission. Coronal Brooks informs Eadan Inara's DNA results has her connected to Lukian & Roy, so he's headed in alone. I love how this book opens up the world building for a new faction. There are several new characters introduced in this book ... which will have future stories, I'm sure!

Inara as been on the streets for years, and was taken in and mentored by a teammate of Eadan, who left PSI-Ops years ago. Turns out, he was taken while trying to protect her. Inara has been taught to NOT trust Magik, but she's been drawing Eadan for years ... so she instinctually seems to trust him.

This book is definitely a - bust the plot wide open - type of book. It pulls the curtain back a bit, showing just how deep the Corporation really goes. Setting up a plan of attack for PSI-Ops, as well as causing the various factions to start working together with those proven trust-worthy, as the corruption is appearing at all levels.

It was short and sweet, but packed a heck of a punch!

Short, sweet and enjoyable enough with just a small bit of action.
If you have not read the previous books the lack of character information on Aedan will be short. Inara is a new character and though we are told how she came to be, we learn very little about her as a person.
New characters are introduced who I am sure we will see more of later on.
Eadan finally gets his mate and we are given another new direction now with the Asia project babies.
Inara was likeable and for a virgin very enthusiastic into the being made Eadan’s wife.
I must admit on first reading these books many years ago, I found the storyline enthralling. All these years later and the genetic super soldier/evil scientist theme has been done to death by too many authors.
Ms Roth at least is one of the better authors to write this plotline believably.
Rereading this series years from when I originally read it, so some lack of enthusiasm is to be expected I suppose.
Read in the box set.

Eadan’s story. Up to now he’s been assigned to I-Ops, but he’s temporary sent on a PSI-Ops mission separate from the rest of the team and none of them are happy about it. But when the mission turns out to be finding and bringing in a homeless female shifter he feels an immediate attraction to her.

Inara was only 15 when she ran away from her adopted mom after being told she was unnatural. She’s been living on the streets for years now unable to trust anybody, except maybe the unknown man she’s been drawing and dreaming about.

Inara is so innocent, yet capable, she’s perfect. Eadan is cool. I love the way he handles himself and the way he interacts at the end with Inara’s new family.

Footnote: 1) The description of Aedan reminds me of Legolas in ‘The Lord of the Rings’.

Fave scenes: Inara meeting Jinx and Inara telling off Roi.

Ms. Roth's plans are always so much fun to read. This one a cute hot little short all for getting Eadan his. *grins* This is short, the character's personalities weren't as full-bodied. But Mandy makes it work a cool little story that is part of a very cool series.

When there is an organization in the picture you bet that they are not on the up and up. hmmm mmm, our little pretty in this story has slipped them and has been on the run.
Our tall and sexy used to being out there on his own but when opportunity knocks. that opportunity? is a gorgeous female, scared and not very trusting. How's he going to play the hero if she's skittish as a colt?
You will have to see what she's running from and why? Will our sexy hero be able to keep her protected? hmmm makes you wonder yeah?

Eadan Daly had been assigned to I-Ops, but they are sending him on a PSI-Ops mission. It turns out that he is to find and bring in a homeless female shifter. He is immediately attracted to her. Inara Nash, the homeless female, has been on the run for years from a mysterious organization which she knows to avoid. She has been drawing the image of this man who came for her and dreaming about him. Could they be mates? If they survive this mission, is there a HEA for them?

Their light banter and the action-packed scenes provide the reader with a fun read. Eadan and Inara are good together. Grab your copy and read their magical story.

I have followed this series from the beginning, it surprised me with the way these characters fly off the page. The writing is spectacular and the world building is Phenomenal! This is Edan and Inaras story. This writer brings the good and you never feel slighted by her ingenuity. She has created a world that is suspense filled and brings the paranormal to a whole new height! She brings these characters to life! Once you start any of her books she hooks you with a remarkable story and allows us to escape to a world that flows. You will not look at this paranormal universe the same!

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Tactical Magic by Mandy M Roth is the fifth book in the Immortal Ops series. I read this book as a drop-in (I have not read the previous books) and I felt there was more going on than I was catching. I did, however, enjoy the read. There was a lot of intrigue, drama and action. I found myself wanting to know more about the team and their interactions. Eadan and Inara's story was a little bitter sweet for me. I think I wanted more back story. A good read that makes me want to go back and read the series in order.

His perfect mate.
I love the I-OPS series. Powerful supernaturals find their strong sassy mates. They go through a lot to get them...
While Eadan isn't a shifter, he has made the I-OPS team. He is pulled out and sent on a solo mission to find a woman that was experimented on. Inara is a paranormal but not sure what kind. She knows she is being hunted and has gotten really good at hiding and running... until Eadan. They are mates and the attraction is uncontrollable. When they're captured, can they find a way to save themselves? Will they get a HEA?

Yes I am addicted to this series and the spin off series. I love me a good paranormal story and Mandy always delivers. With magical shifters and other beings, these alpha men and women are matches made for life. Military men who are brothers are always in the middle of the action and find their matches in some unusual places. But it is not all doom and gloom, Mandy gives us stories that you can't put down and find yourself lost in the pages. I love the easy banter and wicked sense of humour she gives the characters.

This one of Mandy's books that I read way back in 2014 but never got around to writing a review until right now. A nice change of pact from the previous shifter themes. Eaden is a fae so of course there is magik to be had in this book. I've read all the previous Immortal Ops books and this had a different flavor to the theme. Though, of course, Eaden finds his life mate in Inara who carries Fae DNA. This discovery starts the spin on a new book. Like this entry enough to buy the book but this review is via Booksprout as I hadn't gotten around to writing a review b/f now.

When Eadan Daly is called back to work a case for PSI Ops he is not sure if he wants to go but with the traitors being discovered in PSI Ops he does not know who he can trust. When he finds the woman he has been sent to bring in or terminate he is captured wondering where his back up is. And on top of all that this woman is his life mate. This is another great in the I OPS series I can not wait for more. Love this author and all the series I've read so far. Just started the first book in the PSI series.

Each book in this world is a stand alone but it would be easier to follow the dynamics and the bigger story if you read them in order. The order of the WHOLE world not just this series because they all crossover at different times. I recommend going to the authors webpage and follow her reading order list.
It's a good book especially if you are looking for a series to sustain you instead of a one shot read.
