Taking a vacation shouldn’t mean the end of the world… right? For Emma Zade, a burned-out supervisor in a corporate world, it’s beyond time to take a break. On an impulse, she books a ten-day cruise to paradise. Her hopes of relaxing with a book at the pool are dashed when her cruise is overtaken by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. They’re on their semi-annual vacation to blow off some steam. The Horsemen offer Emma an intriguing Return to her cabin to be mind-wiped or stick with them and enjoy her vacation… with benefits. Amidst the sun, sea, and her newfound chaotic companions, Emma is surprised to learn that the cruise is more than a vacation, it’s also an event that will launch the apocalypse. With danger increasing by the minute and her own life on the line, Emma tries to make the most of what could be the last of her days. At least witnessing the start of the apocalypse is better than being in the office.

FMC: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 The four horsemen: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 (it's a toss-up which one was my favorite :p) Spice: 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶
This was one of those books that I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to like it, but it sounded intriguing enough for me to give it a try, and I ended up thoroughly enjoying it!
It was more of a spice over plot kinda story, which I'm perfectly fine with from time to time as long as the spice is written well, which I thought this was. I loved each of the horsemen, there was fun banter, and the ending made me so happy!
If you are a fan of dark romance and reverse harems don't miss this debut. It'll be available on KU March 15th!
Emma is a people pleasing 30-something who hates her job, hasn't had a vacation in 5 years, and is on the brink of a nervous breakdown. On a whim she books a cruise for some rest and relaxation. Slight problem: the ship is the location of a cataclysmic event that will start an apocalypse. Choosing to make the most out of her time before the world ends, she has a spicy adventure with the four horseman of the apocalypse: Aeron (War), Ale (Famine), Nick (Conquest), and Horace (Death).
I loved all of her relationships with the horsemen. They all had very different personalities and there was banter, comradery, and polyamory. Nik had the strongest personality but Ale was my favorite. They are immortal entities in human form and nurture the "stray" Emma into the self-assured apocalyptic version of herself that she'll need to be to survive the end of the world.
The balance between smut and plot was perfect. This held my full attention and the impending doom made it suspenseful. The story is roughly 200 pages and effectively snapped me out of a reading slump I had been in for weeks.

This story follows Emma, a burnt out, office work employee working a 60 hour week and never truly being able to have any down-time, who is convinced by a friend to book some time off and go on a cruise. Amazing, right? Well it is, until she meets the four horsemen of the apocalypse - who offer her an ultimatum, to either stay with them for the duration of the trip to be their ~*plaything*~ or be put under a spell where she’ll go back to her room and remember nothing.
Okay so I’m not going to lie ~ I was worried through these first few chapters that I was not going to enjoy this book. I found Emma pretty boring but I suppose it comes with the territory of basically being a corporate robot. Her character was written really well. I felt sorry for her and most definitely rolled my eyes at her a few times. The contrast between Emma at the beginning of the book and the duration was…an adjustment. I think I struggled to see her having fun and letting loose because it didn’t fit the idea of her I had portrayed in my head. That being said, this story was really good and I enjoyed it. I got super into it at points. The contrasts in personality of the four horsemen are *chefs kiss* (❁ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈) ! It was super fun witnessing their relationship developments & how the spice unfolded. Though, there was some great opportunity here for ‧₊˚✧group scenes✧˚₊‧ That I feel was missed. I really liked the ending, I would love to read more of these characters.
I loved Emma. She's the burnt out employee in all of us. When the story starts, she's crying in her car in the parking lot of work. Who hasn't been there? I was happy to watch our girl get some courage and stand up for herself as the book went on. The four Horsemen, Ale, Aeron, Horace, and Nik, were unique enough to set them apart but stood fast as a unit. I loved that they spoiled Emma with gifts, attention, and affection the whole time. However, I had some unanswered questions at the end of the story that the epilogue didn't address. Inquiring minds need answers! And I would have loved a group scene or two.. I'm just saying.
First let’s give it up for such a good dedication!👏🏽👏🏽 “To those drinking wine out of coffee cups… and pen names so my mom can never find this book.” That definitely let me know there would be some spice to come!😏
In Harbinger we start by getting to know Emma Zade, a strawberry blonde (sorry it was mentioned a few times 😂). Just a normal girl in corporate America who hates her job. No one realizes that she cries before even getting out of her car! She didn’t always hate it but, as it happens often, she was given a promotion where she ended up having to do double the work. Literally the whole office depends on her. Other then that she has your normal life of going to work then home, Nothing “remarkable.”
That all changes when her bestie Hillary convinces her she needs a vacation, why not a 10 day cruise? To her surprise the cruise ends up being a billion times better, thanks to the spicy 4 horsemen of the apocalypse!!🥵 They also wanted some vacation time on a cruise. Honestly I loved getting to know all the horsemen. They all had their special traits and great banter/relationship building with Emma.
Harbinger had me hooked. I was giggling, turning red,😳 and trying to figure out if we’d see a future with these horsemen!!😏 There was lots of spice, banter and even some action, I definitely would recommend to anyone in a little reading slump like I was!
OMG! This was such an incredibly entertaining, fun and spicy story that I devoured quickly and could not get enough of. It was fast paced, suspenseful, thrilling, emotional and packed with such deliciously dangerous but totally swoon worthy characters that had me falling in love with them all.
Emma had me in a chokehold with how realistic her life was. I felt for her and the amount of unending stress her work has put on her. I could totally relate to it all. When she finally takes a vacation, she has no idea what life has in store for her next.
When she meets some very interesting and dangerously sexy men, they end up turning her world upside down and giving her something she was desperately missing - relaxation, warmth, passion and love.
The banter between Emma and the four horsemen was filled with hilarious sarcasm, jokes and sexual innuendos that had me giggling throughout. And the sexual chemistry between them all was just insane and oozed off the pages. It was definitely deliciously spicy, kinky and smutty! And I enjoyed every moment of it.
I loved this story and would love to read what the future now has in store for Emma and the four horsemen.
I absolutely loved this novel, when I read the blurb I was immediately intrigued. Four Horsemen, the apocalypse and a cruise, my mind whirled so I had to dive into this book straight away and I'm so glad I did. Harbinger is written fantastically, Emma the main character is created with such a realism that she is so relatable. The characters of the four horsemen were deliciously created and it was hard to choose which one was my favourite, but since this is a why choose, I don't have to! I enjoyed all aspects of these characters, they really brought the storyline together, along with their doom and gloom they also brought the spice and boy is it spicy! The storyline itself was intriguing to read, I found myself lost in it and I was eager to find out what was happening next, I also wanted to know what the doom and gloom event was gonna be. I devoured this book with my anticipation high and by the end I was left satisfied. I loved reading this and hope to read more from TD Chase.
Genre/Trope: It was supposed to be Dystopian, but ends up not. Don't ask.
Burn: Fast
POV: Single. Main Female Character.
Tense: Present
Heat: 4/5 Hot
Build: Quick
Triggers: Read the author's notes, however, the content isn't as severe as she warns.
Kink: Does a swat on the ass count?
Writing Skill: Mostly alright. 3/5
Story Line: (You won’t find a re-cap here. I refuse to ruin the story for you – this is just my impression of it) Cruise ship gone wrong. This was referred to me as dystopian, but the events play out that it was not the end of the world.
Characters: MMC: The Four Horsemen. From the book of Revelations. All rate a 4/5 except for Nik. He's a 3/5
FMC: 4/5. Mostly alright.
Supporting: Celestial beings. Demons and some very minor rolls. Decent enough, considering none of them got a lot of real estate on the pages.
Fast and easy-to-read dark romance book with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
The FMC Emma, hates her job and hasn’t taken a vacation in multiple years. She ends up going on a cruise, but her hopes of relaxing by the pool are dashed by the Four Horsemen and the upcoming apocalypse.
I really liked the chemistry and banter between Emma and the horsemen, who all had their own different personalities and characteristics. The book had a lot of spicy scenes, but the spice wasn’t the whole point of the plot. The plot itself was interesting, and the book kept me hooked from the first page.
The ending felt a bit rushed, and I would have loved if there were a bit more about it, but otherwise, I really enjoyed the book.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
‘Harbinger’ is a unique why-choose story about going on vacation and potentially being smack dab in the middle of the apocalypse. Whoops!
Emma needs a vacation in the worst way and she accidentally decides to take the same cruise as the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Ale, Aeron, Horace, and Nik each care for Emma in their own way. Even though a lot may be in question, Emma learns how to live a little and be herself more than she's ever been. I enjoyed her relationship with the guys. I would love to see more of them!! Even in a little novella or something pretty please?!?
This is a fun, quick romantic paranormal comedy and it works well. I enjoyed this story.
This story is unique and glorious in its spicy delivery. It centers around an overworked and underappreciated woman who just needs a break and decides to take a cruise. Little did she know that four sexy horsemen of the apocalypse were waiting to take her on the adventure of a lifetime. But there is more to their presence on board than meets the eye…. This book drew me in and captured my attention. The heroine is relatable and the men are 🥵. Definitely worth a binge!
The beginning was slow to start but once Emma started to unwind on her trip, that's when things were getting good! I love the relationships she developed with each of the Horsemen and how certain minds were changed in the end. I also like how relatable Emma is, maybe I need to book a cruise and get lucky with four god-like men 😅
I really liked the book and the twist on the story of the four Horsemen. I liked that. It was a different kind of happily ever after, but I like the traditional happily ever after so it just didn’t end as well as I would want it too. In the end I’d recommend it. It was a fun read, I just wanted more
This book had me crying, laughing, and, at times, rolling my eyes. I thoroughly appreciated Emma and her journey throughout this book. I loved (and slightly hated) all of the horsemen, and I truly couldn't pick a favorite. I'd absolutely recommend this book to anyone interested in a quick, emotionally complex, four horsemen themed book.
This was fun and different! I wished it was longer as to have more to the story and plot but I enjoyed it for what it was. I knewwwww Nik was down bad when he said ‘I know the constellations well enough for the both of us. All you need is me.’ I was like yesssss, deny your feelings king!! We’ve no idea you in loveeee 🫶🏻 3.5 stars
This was a fun read. I went into this completely blind and just needing a fun read—I was not disappointed. The spicy scenes were perfect. The characters were balanced and kept me interested the whole time. It was also extremely relatable for me since the FMC works in dental insurance and so do I. 😅 maybe this book is a sign that I need to take some PTO? 😜
Now I really need an extended version of this. I would’ve loved more of a story after they came back. Backstories on the Horseman would’ve been great too. But overall I really liked it.
Absolutely loved this book! Very relatable with the stress of balancing home & work life… the supernatural was great! Can’t wait to read more of this lovely author’s work🩵
wow. i don’t know what i was expecting bc i downloaded this for stuff my kindle as well. not something i expected to be reading but if you’re a smut lover, this book and very up your alley 🫢
