Mixed Feelings
This book held so much promise. I enjoyed the general plot of it, but I felt as if the author didn’t do a good job of giving us much detail. Every scene seemed to blend into the next without a proper transition and we were given circumstances with no real resolution or detail.
For example, we were presented with the idea of Charisse and her family not being close and her finding out that her sister doesn’t share the same father she does. We never get a confrontation scene or much else besides her sister laughing it off and her father completely ignoring Dru at the sister’s engagement party. We don’t get a real resolution on the cheating fiancé plot point either.
There are so many other moments in the story I wish the author would have expanded upon, so I have to give this story 2 stars.

The story had potential. It was different. I only wish Dru and Charisse had acknowledged their feelings since it became confused toward the end. The connection between Dru and Charisse was there; they had nice moments, but it seemed as if one minute they were going somewhere and then something occurred, I'm not sure what. Also, the author did not do a good job of providing more details on certain issues.

First Read
The Love under contract story was my first book by this author. I enjoyed book one with Dru and Charrise in their fake relationship story. Her friends were too funny. And we all know a love story usually has a narcissistic person, and that would be Charrise's snooty sister. Her reality check is going to be a mother load. I enjoyed this slow burn love story.

I enjoyed meeting Dru and Charisse!! They made such a cute couple and made me feel all the things!! Dru literally sweeps Charisse off her feet and for the most part treats her like the queen we all deserve to be treated as. The story was beautiful, cute and quick. There wasn't really any moments that were bogged down by unnecessary things and I things flowed nicely. There was only a little bit of spice in this but it was hot! I can't wait to see what's in store for the other brothers!! This is a definite recommend!

This has so much potential to be great. The story is interesting, and the author has something interesting with exploring the guilt Dru and Charisse feel alongside their growing feelings.
The pacing is off and the writing, dialogue, and actual plotting of the narrative is choppy and underdeveloped. More practice/training/growth as a writer and a really good editor would take this up several notches.

It was very cute
This is my first read from Nina High and I absolutely enjoyed it!!! I love fake relationships and the way Nina showed the differences in Dru and Charisse through their navigating their agreement. They were getting on my damn nerves, I just wanted them to be together. I will say the family storylines felt a bit incomplete….idk I guess I was expecting Dru to talk to his mother about how he felt. I did read the bonus chapter so I’m glad there was some resolution with Charisse. Overall though I enjoyed this one, excited to get into the other books in the series!!!

This was such a fun listen! I absolutely loved this story, and Dru and Charisse’s relationship. The build up and how it all unfolded kept me hooked from beginning to end. The way he spoiled her, and even her friends, was billionaire perfection. But it all felt authentic and sweet. Speaking of Charisse’s friends, they were hilarious and maybe my favorite part. There were plenty of humorous moments that balanced the dramatic and emotional ones perfectly. This was my first book by this author but I will definitely be reading more!

very cute!!
I actually suck at book reviews but I wanted to leave one for this one. Definitely left me in my feelings. I wish it was a bit more steamy. We only got one scene but the build up to it was worth it! This was a really cute trope and the author nailed it!

Okay so I’m giving this 3.5 stars read & the short answer for why that is simple:

Please Note: I definitely enjoyed this & i would say if you like a quick read about billionaire romance with some comedy then definitely give it a read 🤗🩵
Now this story follows Dru (a billionaire who came from family wealth and wants to take over his mom’s business in hopes to keep the family legacy going) & Charisse ( a high school teacher who has way too much debt in student loans but is content with her life for the most part but would be happier if debt were gone and she experienced life more)
By some sudden chance, a decision is made, a contract between the two is drawn up and everything is going according to plan but Dru had toooooo many “oopsie daisy” moments for me.
“To catch feelings or to not catch feelings” “tell the truth or not” *physically runs away but spoils her immediately after* sooooooo many details 😭😭🤣 BUT from start to finish: THE STORY KEPT ME ENTERTAINED!!
Charisse’ best friends are funny & supportive, her family is insufferable, and seeing Charisse lavish in the billionaire life was fun to read about. I just wish that we were given a bit more of scenes that looked fun. Like Charisse’ shopping spree, or the girls shopping spree or the debriefing with the girls after Charisse & Dru…. Connected 🤣🤣😭
Their names for the “meter” range were insane 😭🤣🌶️
Charisse and her besties dynamic are funny and it gives a sense of sisterhood so I would’ve loved seeing more detailed moments. Jumping from scene to scene was thing but again, from interactions to laughter I was entertained for the most part!!
For the most part, it was a good quick read, if I knew Dru in real life, I’d tell him about himself swiftly oh and I wanted Porsche to slap him at one point! Idk I think he needed that 👀🤣

Whew chile,
Why y’all be breaking up so close to the end but the realization at the end was IT! I loved this whole relationship and how they fell in love. Arranged marriages are so cute to me, well in books they are. The falling in love part is always so authentic and worth it. I also like how they didn’t just pop up married and it was the whole phase of a real relationship. I loved them during this whole book.

LOVED THIS BOOK! From the start I knew I would rate it high. To be fair I’m a sucker for a billionaire romance but it was done so well! I loved the characters and the story. The build up to them falling in love was done perfectly and the banter was so good! I found myself giggling multiple times. I can’t wait to read the next book and explore her catalog!

Good book overall but it was a couple things that we never got a conclusion for. There was never a confrontation with the family for how they treat her, the whole uncle-daddy situation, or the cheating finance. It just felt incomplete. Like well we find out more in the next book or are we just moving on and not addressing the issues that played a big role in the FMC’s development?

Omg Dru is such a confused in love type of guy , Common sense that he was falling for Charisse but for some reason he didn’t know what to do with those feelings 😩 Now Charisse on the other hand she wanted to give them a chance but fell in line when Dre naked face ahh 🙄 wanted to remind her of her role 😑! But my boy got his $hit together which made me so happy 😁! 🗣 Charisse Mammy and sister WEIRD AF 👏🏾👏🏾 And Some hater 😒! lol

With marriage of convenience, you know tensions and denial will be running high. I love the fight, the push and pull. The when will they!? (Because we all know it’s coming, just a matter of when). When I tell you, Nina High delivered on a hot yummy platter!! A charming, cinnamon roll billionaire who sweeps me off my feet? Who wants to spoil me AND MY FRIENDS?? Oh HYFR.🧎🏾♀️➡️

Love, Under Contract is my first book from the author Nina High and I really really enjoyed the story and the characters! Charisse and Dru are atypical Black characters and they're the perfect pair in Love, Under Contract.
In Love, Under Contract, we meet Charisse a struggling school teacher Charisse and Dru, a workaholic whose mother has promised him the family business if he settles down. A mutual attraction and shared needs, leads Dru to propose a marriage of convenience to Charisse - she'll no longer struggle because he'll pay her to be his wife - and he'll get the family business because he'll get the wife he needs.
The FMC, Charisse, is relatable and down-to-earth...just what you want in a female lead in a marriage of convenience romance. While the MMC, Dru, is sexy, smart, rich, and generous...everyone's dream. My favorite interaction between Charisse and Dru happens when flies Charisse to her dream vacation in Puerto Rico, then surprises her by flying out her two best friends Porsche and Lily:
I want to hear a man say that to me right now.
Though the pacing and storytelling felt a bit off at times for me, the book grabbed my attention right from the first page and it's pretty fast paced. I couldn't put it down, so I finished in about 2 days. 🤭
With Love, Under Contract we get a dual POV book about mother-daughter relationships; finding balance in life and relationships; and found family.
The characters are lovable and the story is very engaging for the most part. And I am really excited to read the other 2 books in the series. If you're looking for a lighthearted marriage of convenience romance and you enjoy the found family trope, you'll really enjoy Love, Under Contract.

I loved that Charisse and Drew went from meet cute to marriage of convenience to in love in about 3 seconds flat. While this surely counts as love at first sight, it felt like there was more to it than a few glances and I really enjoyed that aspect of their story.

I rated this book 3.75 stars it’s so good that I dayum near rated it 4 ⭐️s. It’s my favorite romantic troupe, fake/arranged marriage. It’s also a slow burn romance but it works here because of the circumstances.
Dru is the son that wants to take over the family business. However his mother is concerned that his life revolves around work only. So she tells him that she won’t retire until he marries.
Charisse has fought for everything her entire life. Fought to go to college and amassed a ton of student loans to do so. She’s drowning in debt and is barely making it.
They meet at a paint and sip. But Dru neglects to get her number. A little while later they meet again at his family’s store and that’s when Dru comes up with the fake marriage idea and they’re off to the races.
I think the thing that got me was the guilt they had over the fake marriage. It seems like a little much cause they willingly entered into the contract. But it didn’t ruin the book for me.
However, I loved Charisse’s relationship with her girls. I felt for her because of her relationship with her family. The relationship Dru had with his siblings was cool too. And the book made me howl in laughter in some spots. As with all fake/arranged marriages they fall in love and get their HEA.

Give it a Chance
This book has potential but it needs more editing. The story isn't flushed out fully and it didn't flow well. There were typos and parts that were repetitive. For instance, they kept saying the lying disgusted them and everything was disgusting. Okay, we get, it you don't like lying to everyone. It was also annoying because the agreement wasn't disgusting when they were benefiting from it.
I also think the characters needed more development. I found the mains annoying but especially the woman. She kept bringing up the money and so did her friends and made them annoying. Dru was annoying because he kept making the same mistake rather than slowly starting to change. There also wasn't any real progression to get them to their HEA. The arguments were the same until they decided they were going to be together instead of subtle changes leading up to the big moment.
The overall plot is a good idea, the book just needs a better editor. Hope the author continues to grow.
This book has potential but it needs more editing. The story isn't flushed out fully and it didn't flow well. There were typos and parts that were repetitive. For instance, they kept saying the lying disgusted them and everything was disgusting. Okay, we get, it you don't like lying to everyone. It was also annoying because the agreement wasn't disgusting when they were benefiting from it.

Cute concept poor execution. While the main characters have some chemistry they lack real angst. A lot of the choices they make are so basic. She underdevelops the conflict and never gives a resolution to the FMC issues with her family.
Left wondering why did his mom shade her during their first meet?
Why didn’t they transition to a marriage for love earlier
Why does the FMC seem like a gold digger at some points?
What happened to the coffee table he makes inspired by her?
What’s up with the sisters suspicious shade during the phone call?
What’s the FMC’s relationship like with her dad? He’s there for the sister’s engagement party but is never mentioned again after.
So many unanswered questions.

This book fell onto my fyp on TikTok and I'm not mad at it!! I've even started to read the next book in the series. I feel in love with the MMC and MFC and their love story. The banter, the acts of service, and how you can see the growth in there two characters was everything in this book. Please read 10/10 recommend!!!

This just seems like an unfinished book. The author introduced plot points and never followed through on many of them. FMCs family, MMCs businesses. It was all over the place.

I enjoyed this book and not just because Dru is my first ever book boyfriend. That man��whew! I adored him and was half in love with him before I hit the 50% mark. Thoughtful, considerate, intuitive, generous. Ms. High hasn’t fallen into the trap of making him too perfect. He has flaws, which make him all the yummier. Ms. High’s spin on the billionaire trope made for a terrific read.
I love romances that feature strong friendships and Charisse has two hilarious best friends. The conversations between the friends had me cackling in the back of an Uber and wheezing with laughter after midnight. My neighbors probably hate me, but it was worth it.
Charisse is easy to root for. As someone who works in education, I can attest that, sadly, the financial strain for today’s teachers is real. Ms. High does a great job portraying life as an educator—the good, the bad, and the student loan/disproportionate pay ugly.
But back to Dru, who had me swooning with his actions. It’s easy to claim to care about someone, but it’s the showing up for them emotionally that makes the difference. Plenty of Dru’s sweet actions didn’t involve his wealth at all. He’s in tune with Charisse and not too macho to show it. I particularly like how Ms. High weaves his realization of falling in love. It’s well done, and you can see it unfolding on the page. We get to go along with the ride and it is delightful.
The intimacy was just delicious. Ms. High had me cheering out loud for these two coming together. I cried like a sap at the end. I gave a happy, satisfied sigh when I finished reading and it takes something special to get me to do that. I cannot wait to read more in this series.
