From the Big Apple to the Big Easy… a journey culminating in a tale of resilience and love.
While traveling in Paris, Maurice and Grace receive an urgent message to return home. The stock market crash, aka Black Monday, has devastated their finances. Together, they make the bold decision to escape the exorbitant rents of New York City to live in a house Maurice inherited in New Orleans, hoping to restore their financial stability. Yet, as they settle into their new life, Maurice encounters an unfamiliar branch of his family tree - the criminal branch, led by his illegitimate father, Philippe. His half-sisters, Sophie and Marie, extend their welcome as well, but beneath the surface, deception lurks. Foreseeing no real danger, Grace encourages her husband to explore this newfound connection. A surprise visit from the FBI reveals shocking truths about Philippe’s dark side. Fear grips Grace as the depth of their peril becomes evident, but an unexpected bond develops between Maurice and his father. Torn between loyalty and survival, Maurice grapples with impending fatherhood, and protecting his wife while attempting to unearth Philippe’s secrets and free them from a dangerous entanglement.
Lawd this was a boring book. I love when books are set in my home town of New Orleans but nothing happened in this book. At all. I hated all the internal “thoughts” they had. I hated the “mystery”. It just wasn’t for me. I only finished because it was a buddy read.
I think this is a great sequel for a series. White does a swell job in making sure the audience is entertained and connected to the story and characters. After a while, I became fond of the characters Marie and Maurice. Grace was too gullible for me and should have been kicking ass and taking names later. Nonetheless, I could not stop reading this and wanted to know what was going to happen. I think I enjoyed the sequel better than the first one. I can't wait to read another story by this author.
Family can break you or make you more determined to live your own lives! Second chances in love is a reason to never take for granted what you almost lost! Love the characters!
Great story, kept me captivated wondering what's going to happen next. I thought Grace was pretty simple and unaware of things going around her. Matrices character was a bit shady with how he went about his relationship with Grace in the beginning. Trevor was a work in progress meaning he had good intentions but was selfish. Too bad Maurice get his father later in n life, more than likely they would've ha a great relationship. Sophie got what she deserved. All in all I loved the suspense, drama, and hilarity throughout. No television?? No way!
Quick and entertaining this books felt like I was reading a tale about my best friend. Totally delightful and well fleshed out characters and storyline.
While this author, Lorilyn White, is new to me, the stories that she crafts in her novels lets you know right away that she is no novice writer and author. She captures your attention with the main characters, Grace and Maurice, as they diligently fight for their love for one another through a tangled web of betrayal, lies, jealousy, and family drama. I had a hard time putting the book down! Patiently waiting for the next part, Ms. White!!
I love how the main characters Maurice and Grace fight for their love, despite the web of lies, betrayal, jealousy, and family drama that lurks all around them. The author gives us a realistic approach to the family drama many families go through behind closed doors, and how sons and/or daughters have to make a decision whether to protect themselves or blow the whistle on their loved ones. This book hits upon family loyalty, despite the deception, and if bringing a child into this scenario is the right thing to do. This is a wonderful love story that will have you cheering on this wonderful couple.
I loved Maurice and Grace as a couple. Their loyalty and love for one another was clearly felt, even amidst the temptations and lies brought upon them by certain nefarious members of Maurice's family. Most of all, I enjoyed the New Orleans setting. Since I have never visited there, I learned a lot from reading No Big Easy Love and found it interesting—Zydeco dancing, Tulane University, the foods, the clothing styles, the climate. Author White has spun an intriguing tale of greed, jealousy and danger that kept me questioning who among them could be trusted. And as a good writer does - kept me guessing until the final pages!
The natural progression to No Big Easy Love from She Wouldn’t Wait felt so natural! I love how each book was detailed in their descriptions yet high level. The push and pull love store of Maurice and Grace feel like true nuances of real life and I love the faith aspect intertwined.
I loved the sequel of this book. This had a lot of action, and who did it. It kept my attention that I read this book in 4 days. It's more gangster but a loving book. I would recommend reading this book. But you have to read the 1st one, then this one.
Lorilyn did not disappoint with the continuation of Maurice and Grace's love affair. All I can say is that Maurice's sister, Sophie, was crazy. Instead of embracing her brother, she allowed her jealousy to take over. Please read the first book first and then this book....I highly recommend it.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a great sequel to "She Wouldn't Wait." I enjoyed the continued development of the characters. Grace and Maurice's love and support for each other in spite of everything that has and is happening is to them is simply amazing.
Part 2 and for me it followed the stereotype of sequels. Not as impressive as it's prequel but I appreciate the continuation of a couple that against all odds survives...in more ways than one.
I enjoyed Maurice and Grace's relationship, their support of each other. Their love story captured my interest from the prequel. I particularly liked the French language spoken throughout by Maurice.
I really enjoyed the story of reconciliation between father end son. Watching the relationship grow had me rooting for them. No spoiler alert. Some dreams do come true. Coming to the end of the book, had me wanting more. Good read, thank you.
Pretty good 2-part series chronicling the love story and ups and downs of Grace and Maurice. They smoke a lot of weed, but hey, he’s an artist so I guess it’s required.
