I’m still reading this series because I’m already invested in the plot, but the proofreading must have been horrible. The audiobook errors are horrendous.
So Broken is book twelve in the Faith Bold series by Blake Pierce. FBI Special Agent Faith Bold and FBI Special Agent Michael Prince caught a case that was more twisted than their typical cases. Bodies were found drained of their blood. It became a race against time for FBI Special Agent Faith Bold and FBI Special Agent Michael Prince to find the killer before Faith is one of the victims. Readers of So Broken will continue to follow FBI Special Agents Faith Bold and Michael Prince to discover what happens.
So Broken is another fantastic addition to this excellent series by Blake Pierce. After reading eleven books before So Broken, I might have turned off by now with this series. However, I was wrong. I engaged with this book from the first page and kept reading to the end.
I love Blake Pierce's portrayal of his characters and their interactions throughout this book. So Broken is well-written and well-researched by Blake Pierce. I like Blake Pierce's description of the settings in So Broken, which lets me imagine being part of the book's plot.
After coming home to find Turk hurt by West, she is sent to search for who similarly killed a Vet and an arms dealer a year prior. Before she can find the culprit other people will fall, including government officials which will put even more pressure on her and Michael. So Broken is fast-paced and easy to read, it has a good storyline that mixes action, romance, friendship, and devotion to serve a righteous cause without leaving the main character to react as a normal woman who gets sad, tired, lonesome, and affected by all the gruesome sights she has to deal with. I thank Ms. Pierce for this ARC.
Faith comes home to find West trying to kill Turk. She & Turk try to capture him but he escapes. Her boss sends Faith, Turk & Michael to Miller, Washington, where a killer is leaving victims stabbed in the heart, sliced to bleed out with "Vengeance" written with their blood. These victims seem to be chosen for being Marines or some how pertaining to the military. They find suspects but something just doesn't seem right for Faith to charge them. Great book!
The AI writing is so bad and the author/editor clearly don’t check the writing or audio. The AI narrator mispronounces so many words which is frustrating when listening to the audiobook and there are some instances of writing mistakes (e.g. Ellie is in a vehicle with Michael and after waking up from a nightmare refers to him as “Matt” twice). There are also many weird noises throughout the book that sound like a mechanical “ahck” sound.
I no longer care about the overarching plot. I’m done with this series, and I’m done with “Victoria,” the AI narrator and her random goat noises. What on earth is causing that, and more importantly, why don’t they fix it???? Ridiculous. Obviously, quantity is being completely prioritized over quality. Several times they called Michael “Matt,” and once they called Faith “Jessie.“ Peace out. 😡🤬😤
Another suspenseful book in this series. The plot is engaging and the book pages just fly by. At this point West seems to be outsmarting the whole FBI with no chance of capturing him. The characters are evolving and their relationships are changing adding more interest to the story. Even after 12 books, this series seems fresh and interesting.
Slower paced than most of this author's books but still a good read. As always the ending makes you continue the series, which I have enjoyed this entire series thus far.
As always, I loved this Faith Bold story, but the narration kept calling Faith’s partner, Michael, by the name “Matt.” I’m not sure if this was a writing or a narration error, but it was very confusing the first couple of times.
Her mysteries are great & the books are easy reads; however, I am sick of hearing about the damn donkey killer in every single book. Over & over & over with every little detail. Ugh. I understand giving readers a quick update if they don't read in order, but enough already!
I enjoyed this latest installment of the Faith Bold Series. I'm terribly afraid something is going to happen to Turk and I'm not going to be able to handle it. I am very happy that Faith and Michael's relationship appears to be healing (but for the love of all that is holy WHY was "Michael" randomly listed as "Matt" throughout the book? Please proof these better!)
I'm anxious to get to the conclusion of the West saga... that man needs to be stopped.
The story is a solid 3.5-4.5 star book. This is true for the entire series.
But it gets an automatic one start for using an AI audio narrator instead of getting an actual narrator to save money or whatever. There are tons and tons of narrators out there who are just starting, good and don’t need a paycheck for their work. Many work off audiobook sales or even credits (I know from experience with said narrators.)
AI “art” is lazy and a theft of real people creating art.
