After having read multiple other books by the author and enjoying them so much I was excited to start reading a new series.
Hollyhock Farm sounds like such a delightful place. These rom coms can have some quirky characters in them but not in a bad way, a good way. The characters are fun, outgoing and keep you entertained.
We have Lettie and her brother at their parent's farm, Hollyhock Farm in Jersey. The parents need to tell them something, they are selling the farm and retiring. Lettie grew up there and she never expected this to happen. She wanted a career in fashion in London but not quite working out like she wanted it to she's back on the farm and shocked at her parents' announcement, she and her brother both. The farm is in Lettie's blood, she can't just let it go and sets out to prove to her parents on a trial run of three months she is capable of running it herself though she has no idea of the ins and outs of farm work. Now I do like the thought of an organic produce farm with a few animals but it's not something I'd want to do day in and day out.
I give Lettie all the props, she works her tail off basically day into the night running this farm while her parents are on a cruise to prove to them, she's got what it takes. Will it actually be enough to keep the farm in the family and convince her parents it should stay? With two men competing for her attention, the town's new veterinarian and a firefighter, who will she choose? Does she even have time for a romance right now? The book is so heartwarming, the characters are charming and likable, the situation has a bit of tension that has you holding your breath. The book is warm and invites you in to get to know the characters and I'm looking forward to reading more installments in this series and meeting back up with all the animals again.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.

Perhaps one of the most jarring moments for many young adults involves returning to a childhood home for the first time in a while. Parents look a little older. The house isn't quite what it used to be. And by god, was everything always this small?

That's partially why the opening to Welcome to Hollyhock Farm, Georgina Troy's newest novel, lands so effective. After her fashion career stalls out in London, Lettie visits her family back on the island of Jersey. In a double whammy only parents can deliver, it's revealed her father has suffered a recent heart attack and the their farm is to be sold to her uncle. Troy successfully captures Lettie's frustrations as she navigates both of her worlds—her new adulthood and previous childhood—suddenly crumpling. It's a testament to her tight writing that it feels as though Lettie, an otherwise affable narrator, might be on the verge of something drastic.

So it's not really a surprise when she suddenly volunteers to take over the farm. And, after a brief bit of business involving Troy's fantastic portrayal of a lovingly conflicted father, Lettie winds up playing farmer for three months while her parents are on holiday. If she can manage it properly, she just might be able to keep it in the family. These are some of the best sections of the book, with Troy exploring the backbreaking work this kind of solo operation entails. In her rich style, she showcases Lettie not just tending to animals and soil, but also the administrative finesse it takes to keep things afloat. Who knew farm math could be so compelling?

And that's all before addressing the romance aspect, which takes up far more of the book. Any good farmer needs a good vet, and Brodie happens to be a great one. He also happens to have a minor past with Lettie (he seems to have forgotten it—she has not). Their occupations make for a deliciously realistic reason for them to continually cross paths, and Troy wastes no words when crafting up tension. The addition of a potential secondary love interest, Joe, for Lettie does offer some brief competition, but the book also alternates perspective between Lettie and Brodie, making who she ends up with hardly a major reveal. That's not a negative criticism. Brodie, with a little help from a canine companion, is a catch. And Troy makes Joe so appealing and Lettie's moments with him so tempting that he would be a welcome addition in future series installments.

Which is to say I do hope there will be more to come after this first book. Hollyhock Farm is an utterly charming backdrop with a load of fun characters I wouldn't mind visiting again.

I received a free ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

When Lettie's and Zac's parents call them home to Jersey, they both head home, not sure what to expect. Lettie had a bad breakup a few months prior and has heard that the company she works for will be having some redundancies coming up. She doesn't if she will have a job much longer, so when she gets home, she starts to feel better. When her parents tell their children that they are planning to sell the farmland to their uncle on the neighboring farm, they are both in shock. Their father had a mild heart attack and has been told to take it easy, thus the sale of the land. Lettie speaks up and says that she would like to run the farm for her parents and convinces her father and uncle to give her a chance. Her father works with her for 1 month, then while traveling for 2 months gives Lettie that time to make it and decide if it is really what she wants to do. After heading to London to quit her job and gather her things, she settles in. Being back to the island, she garners the interest of the local vet, who has also just returned to the island, and a hunky firefighter. Can Lettie run the farm, and try to have a social life or maybe even a romance?

Having been married to a man who was raised on a farm, I know how much work it can be. I was very impressed with Lettie and her desire to take over the family farm. She was not a physically strong woman when she started, but she didn't give up, even though she was completely exhausted at the end of every day. I wanted her to succeed and show her parents what she could do. Both Brodie and Joe were great guys. They stepped up to help Lettie when she needed it without expecting anything in return. I really wanted Brodie to come out ahead in the sort of love triangle, as he and Lettie had a moment when they were kids, even if he didn't realize the Lettie and Violet were the same person. The secondary characters played important roles in the story, but didn't take much page time. I have to mention the dogs. Spunky the farm dog and Thistle, the dog Lettie rescued from the side of the road were absolutely wonderful. They really helped Brodie and Lettie to settle in to their new lives. I really enjoyed Georgina Troy's character development. The struggles were realistic, the frustrations well depicted and the lives of young adults returning home to a small community seemed right on the mark. With a few issues that had to be worked out between various characters, some setbacks on the farm for Lettie and some decisions by others that could have derailed Lettie's new life, the author brings this book to a wonderful conclusion. I really enjoyed my time on Jersey and at Hollyhock Farm.

As a fan of Georgina Troy's previous books, I was looking forward to this one. Again, set on the beautiful island of Jersey but this time on a Farm.

Lettie returns home after a setback in her career, but unfortunately receives double whammy news from her parents. Lettie can't bear to see the farm being sold, so she persuades her dad to let her take it on for a trial period.

She certainly works hard, and I think I went through a range of emotions with her as we see her battle to keep going. She is helped by 2 rather lovely men, the local vet Brodie and firefighter Joe, who are both keen on her. This adds a lovely small town, slow burn romance to the story.

It is a dual POV story that I enjoy, full of quirky and interesting characters, not to mention animals especially Spud and Thistle. A very enjoyable read.

Thank you Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random Resources for my gifted ARC and spot on the tour. I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

A light, easy, sweet read with a touch of romance. Lettie's parents want to retire but in order to do so they would need to sell part of their farm on Jersey. Lettie is horrified and, after a horrible break up in London and the company she works for there planning retrenchments, Lettie persuades her parents to let her run the farm while they go on holiday for 2 months. Along with all the hard work of running the farm on a daily basis, Lettie also ends up falling for the new vet. The characters felt a little flat but I enjoyed the story.

Lettie has left London to come home to Jersey as her mum and dad insisted she visit. She's already facing a few choices in her career and is even more thrown when she has a chance to work and run the family farm.

Lettie soon makes friends with the new vet Brodie. Brodie is desperate to build up his new practise and establish his place in the community.

Told from both perspectives this is an easy to read summer romance.

𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: What a great summer read! It’s a cute story and has some really good side characters. Lettie works in fashion. When she comes home to the farm for a visit, she finds out that her father wants to sell the farm. Her parents want to retire so they can travel. She is upset and asks for an opportunity to prove that she could handle the job of running the farm. Brodie is the new town vet…although not new to town as he went to school with Lettie. They had shared a kiss at a school dance but unfortunately, he didn’t realize that it was Lettie which caused some hurt feelings. I thought Brodie was super sweet. Although I thought that Lettie was a really strong FMC, she was annoying to me. I felt that she overreacted with Brodie after only sharing one kiss with him years ago.

Miscommunication is always tricky for me. The lack of communication between Lettie and her parents really got to me. I did feel as though there were some flow issues throughout the book and the ending felt somewhat rushed. Overall, it was a good read and I would read the second book!

Special thanks go out to NetGalley, Boldwood Books, and author Georgina Troy for graciously providing an advance copy of Welcome to Hollyhock Farm.

This contemporary romance story exudes a lighthearted and delightful vibe that is reminiscent of the warm, fuzzy feelings often associated with Hallmark movies. When Lettie finds herself at a crossroads after losing her prestigious fashion job, she decides to return to her family’s farm and tackle the challenge of restoring it within a tight deadline of three months. Along the way, she reconnects with a former high school crush who now works as the town’s veterinarian.

The plot unravels in a charming and expected manner, following a familiar yet gratifying romantic path. However, the conclusion felt somewhat rushed, leaving me wanting more.

My Opinion

Georgina Troy is an author that I cannot miss, I just have to read all of her books. Lettie has returned to her childhood home, Hollyhock Farm and seems to get more than she had planned on. Following Lettie as she comes to terms with the thought of returning to Jersey for good made for a rather enjoyable book. In the style that I have come to love, Georgina Troy has written a stunning book that I didn't want to end.

If you haven't read anything by Georgina Troy yet, then this is going to be a good book to start with - you will then want to catch up with the others. This is such a delightful read and I really hope that we are able to return to Hollyhock farm.

My comments:

Very lovely and pleasant read. I loved Lettie and her determination to learn to run the farm. The romance was lovely however did not take over the actual story with Lettie and Brody taking time to get to know each other again after the brief encounter they had as teenagers. Lovely how animals were so involved in the story as well. I'm looking forward to other featured characters stories in the next two books Zack and Jo. Nice series to end my reading year with along with a christmas book club read.

If you are looking for a light romance read with a stunning setting – look no further.

Lettie, in her mid-twenties, has recently been made redundant from her job in London’s fashion industry. When she is summoned home to the Island of Jersey, she discovers that her father has been having health problems and is determined to get rid of the farm that he worked on for decades. Lettie, aghast at this news, says that she wants to take over the farm. Her father and her uncle are hesitant because Lettie has no real experience despite growing up on Hollyhock Farm. In addition to the acres of organic produce, the farm has cows, chickens, goats, and alpacas. Quite an undertaking!AI rendering of how I imagined Hollyhock Farm would appear

Oh, and speaking of livestock… there is a young and handsome vet in town. Lettie remembers him as a teen crush, yet he doesn’t seem to remember her at all…

The reader follows Lettie as she strives to prove herself to her father that she can, in fact, hold her own on the farm and keep it ticking over successfully. Meanwhile, she is quite distracted by Brodie, the vet.

As is usual with romance fiction, Lettie and Brodie’s relationship is fraught with many misunderstandings, miscommunication and adversity. Factor in other people who want to date them… oh, and also a stray dog called ‘Thistle’.

“Welcome to Hollyhock Farm” is an enjoyable, escapist read that is sure to be appreciated by fans of romance fiction. It is the first in a prospective series, so more visits to Jersey…

It is always great to read the first book in a series and this one was a very nice example of a book in the chick lit genre.

Lettie and Zac get the shock of their lives when their parents tell them they are going to sell the farm. Lettie manages to persuade their father to let her try and take over for a 3 month trial period and the first month is a hard slog, being taught how to do everything on the farm. Then Lettie is on her own. This is a tough ask, since Lettie has not been on the farm in years and she is not exactly the fittest person on the planet, but she gets stuck in and does a decent job.

Of course, not everything goes smoothly and Brodie, the new vet, is always on hand to help out. He doesn't remember kissing Lettie when they were teenagers, however, and that makes things very awkward for Lettie indeed! And then there is another man who is also handsome and willing to help Lettie when needed.......

A very sweet story although Maddie, Brodie's sister, was VERY annoying indeed! Brodie was far too easy going when it came to her, I thought. The author did a great job with that character :)

Nice, romantic tale. Probably could have done with a bit more detail about Lettie's day to day life whilst on the farm, but that is a minor thing.

Looking forward to the second book in the series!

4 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books.

When when I read the synopsis for this, I just thought it sounded so up my street, the idea of escaping London(or any city) and into nature sounds like my idea of heaven. So I had a good inkling that I would enjoy this book, as well as the fact I’ve read Georgina’s books before and always enjoyed them. Michael instinct didn’t let me down and I’m glad to say this is a wonderful read.

I love the characters of Lettie and Brodie, I thought they were a brilliant leading pair, great chemistry, nice tension and lovely relatable characters. I love the detail and attention that clearly Georgina has done her research, I love the focus on the farm work, both physical and financial. I love Brodie and his dog so much, although I’m hoping there will be more books and we get to see more of Joe too, he was a lovely character.

If you’re looking for somewhere scenic to escape, then I definitely recommend Welcome to Hollyhock Farm by Georgina Troy, it had everything I wanted for that perfect weekend, just grab a brew, park yourself and fall into some great writing.

Welcome to Hollyhock Farm is a wonderful novel set on the island of Jersey. I enjoyed this fresh contemporary romance set on a beautifully described island.

Lettie's return to Jersey is actually two fold - she's called home, along with her brother, but Lettie also has returned to regroup after an unexpected turn of events at her place of employment. When Lettie and Zac learn the reason they are called home, both are in a state of disbelief. Not wanting to lose their family farm or home, Lettie asks to run the farm on a trial basis.

While trying to prove to her family that she can manage the farm, Lettie runs into Brodie, a former romantic interest. I loved watching their relationship grow from misunderstandings to romance. Their romance isn't the only theme in the book, though. Lettie's grit and determination to make the farm her own shows her drive and ambition.

Lettie is a strong character. Brodie is kind and charismatic. Each character throughout the book is multi-dimensional and written well. The descriptions are vivid and I felt like I was in Jersey. I enjoyed the author's writing style and will definitely read more of Georgina's work in the future.

This is one of those reads you don’t know you need till you read it 📕❣️

A friend of mine recently moved to Jersey from Scotland and when she told me I was out of my skin excited to tell her my current read was set in her new hometown and naturally I googled everything I could about Jersey and I can see why Lettie loves it ! Even Brodie , once you’ve been in Jersey you’ll always come back it’s home 🥰

So Lettie and zac’s folks go on a cruise and Lettie has 3 months to prove herself to take over Hollyhock and bring a small farmer myself I could feel her love for the land but I could also feel her exhaustion , it’s hard work but so rewarding ……

Brodie and Maddie and their sibling squabbles had me giggling but these characters are so real and relatable 🥰he’s a darling vet and he proves that when Lettie’s brings a dog in that she picked up and he really hies out of his way ti find the owner and when he goes he shows such compassion and understanding and my heart just melts , Lettie’s has a gem in him ….

What a treat it’s been to discover Jesey and her beautiful people , I can’t wait to go back 🥰

This is an enjoyable and easy read. I liked the character of Lettie and her determination to keep the family farm, despite the new learning curve and the work that was even harder than she had anticipated. Brodie is very charismatic too, and after some initial misunderstandings they were obviously destined to be tgether. The animals were delightful, especially the dogs, Thistle (I must admit I prefer that name to Derek) and Spud.

The author's love of the island of Jersey is obvious, the descriptions enable one to see the scenery through Lettie's eyes and to hear the sea and envisage the sandy beach as she and Brodie and their dogs walk along it.

An ideal summer read, especially if you like animals and the countryside. My only criticism is that it ended too soon, I fully expected there to be another chapter, but that is not to say that it wasn't a satisfying ending, I just wanted more!

"Welcome to Hollyhock Farm" by Georgina Troy. What can I say other than I enjoyed it and read in one day. Who doesn’t want to escape to a small farm on an island in the English Channel…

Set sail for the idyllic island of Jersey in this gorgeous new romance, perfect for fans of Rachael Lucas and Phillipa Ashley...

The setting of a small farm on the Island of Jersey sounded breathtaking. It had everything you could want in a story love, family, community and second chances.

I found the characters to be well developed, and multi-dimensional. You had her childhood crush Brodie back on the island as the local vet, then the fireman Joe who all wanted to help Lettie with the farm while her parents were away. The story was told from Lettie’s perspective as well as Brodies .

I will definitely read other books by this author.

I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Boldwood Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lettie offers to run her parent's Jersey farm whilst they are on an extended holiday, hoping to take over the farm rather than them selling it. She meets Brodie, the new local vet, who doesn't remember her from a stolen kiss when they were at school together, but does help her in her endeavours.
This story highlights the sheer amount of work required ruining a smallholding, and Lettie finds it really tiring and is constantly worn out - I'm not sure that I could manage it either. She struggles to forgive Brodie for not remembering their kisses, but a stray dog does bring them together. The story though is as much about the farm as the potential romance between the two and does come to a conclusion, although I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series to find out how the story continues in this small community.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

I enjoyed this lovely story of self-discovery, family, friendship and community set in Jersey. Lettie loves the farm where she grew up and assumes it will always be there when she needs to chill. When her parents tell her that they are selling to enjoy a different pace of life whilst they can, she knows she needs to rethink her future. At a crossroads in her career and love life, she persuades her family to let her run the farm to see if she can make a go of it. The author immersively evokes life on a farm and living in Jersey, and it is an engaging read. It's a steep learning curve for Lettie, but she realises that friendship and community support are invaluable. There is also a rekindling of past romance, even if she seems to be the only one who can remember it. I like the detailed description of farm life and life in Jersey, the relatable characters and relationships and the story's heartwarming ethos.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

I loved this romantic book.

Not only is it romantic but there is also trial and tribulations throughout the story and a thought of who will end up dating Lettie.

I loved the vet Brodie and how much he adores the job he does. He's recently returned to the island and so has Lettie. It's serendipity that they were both from there and thinking of making their move to their home town permanent.

I loved the anticipation throughout the story and the guessing as to who Lettie would end up with, it's a romance novel so you just know it's going to be on the eligible Bachelors of the island for sure.

I love the independent determination that Lettie has for making a go of the farm and proving to her mother and father they she can manage it on her own and that they don't need to sell.

I am so looking forward to reading the next books in the series to find out what happens.

There's no better feeling than going back to your family home is there? I've no idea how I'd react if they told me it was being sold though, it holds so many memories.

I'm ashamed to say I've only read two of Troy's books, but as the Hollyhock Farm series has kicked off with such a promising start, I'm already excited for book two.

Jersey was the perfect setting for the story, it sounds idyllic with its green fields, golden sands and sunshine. Hollyhocks are bright, vivacious flowers, so I visualised the farm being like this after Letitia breathed new life into it.

There's a great sense of community spirit, so I'm hoping throughout the series there are going to be recurring visits from characters, all of whom so far have been wonderful.

An absolute delight to read. Pure escapism.

Welcome to Hollyhock Farm marks the beginning of a fresh series by Georgina Troy.

Lettie returns to her childhood farm on the picturesque island of Jersey, only to discover her brother there as well. Their parents have decided to sell the farm. Lettie is devastated and persuades her father to give her three months to demonstrate her ability to manage it so they can retire.

I thoroughly enjoyed this initial book; the characters are incredibly relatable – even one of vet Brodie’s patients shares the same name as my first cat, Smudge, when I left home! Eagerly anticipating the next installment!

Lettie (Violet) Torel and her brother, Zac, learn that their parents are planning on selling the family farm, Hollyhock Farm, to fund their retirement and travel plans. Dismayed at the idea Lettie convinces her father to let her run the farm and manage the animals and crops for a three month trial period. Set on the beautiful island of Jersey I enjoyed the descriptions of the scenery, the lifestyle involving visits to the local pub and village life, the antics of dogs, the friendliness and help of family and friends, the hard work of being a farmer and the commitment and care of Brodie Murray, the local vet and possible romantic interest.

This was an enjoyable romantic book with a beautiful setting at Hollyhock Farm in Jersey.
Letties parents decide to sell the Farm so they can retire following her Dads heartattack, but Lettie decides to take on the farm to stop them selling.
Lettie was a lovely character who I was willing to succeed throughout the story.
I loved the ending although it was slightly open ended and felt slightly rushed

What a gorgeous read from Georgina Troy. Lettie’s summer is full of hard work and hope as she tries to get to grips with running the farm while her parents are away.
I loved the relationships in this book - Tina proved to be a valuable friend, and having Joe and Brodie around to help was a nice positive for Lettie. Georgina always writes such great stories full of community and wonderful characters.
Hollyhock Farm sounded a perfect place to live and I loved reading about Lettie’s plans with Spud and Derek too.

2,5-3-ish - undecided.
A bit of a snore, to be honest. Nothing new, very similar to other books (like the Puddleduck Farm series) without there being anything that makes it stand out. Also a bit of a "non -story": really not that much going on: 20-something girl returning home to the family farm for a visit, receives news about parents planning to sell up, decides she wants to take over and has to prove herself capable for that to happen. Throw in two men and a past heartache and you've got the story: take over farm and choose the right man.

If you love Jessica Redland's Hedgehog Hollow series, Della Galton's Puddleduck Farm or Sarah Hope's Wagging Dogs Tail Home series, then you do not want to miss out on this story!

Just like Georginas other books, this one is set on Jersey again and although there is some talk of the beach, it is mainly set on the farm that Lettie is temporarily taking care of for her parents and at the vet practice. now run by Brodie. Both Lettie and Brodie are very likeable and have hearts of gold. There does not seem to be a mean bone in either of their bodies and they seem like a perfect match.

Although there was some drama with regards to the farm, there was not as much drama as I have become used to, so this was a gentler, feel good story and I look forward to returning to Hollyhock Farm.

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is an easy to read modern day romance that gave me Hallmark vibes. Lettie moves back to her small-town home after she is let go from her big career as a fashion designer. She is determined to take over the family farm and has 3 months to prove herself. She encounters her high school crush who is the new town veterinarian.

Cute and predictable storyline. The ending was very abrupt and left me wanting.

When Lettie learns that her parents will sell their farm to her uncle she ask them to give it to her now that she has just lost her job . She has three months to prove them that she is capable to work it . And there is the new veterinarian Brodie who helps her . Will she be able to achieve her goals ?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5 for Welcome to Hollyhock Farms. I loved Lettie, a determined young woman who decides to give up her career in London to try to run her family farm when her parents announce that they are going to sell the farm so they can travel.

The book, set on the isle of Jersey, totally makes me want to visit there. This book was a great summer escape!

Thanks to the author, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the ebook in exchange for my honest opinion.
